“comfortable” comfortable house. fantastic access to a large enclosed garden made it perfect for us as we have young children. location great just 3 miles from the lovely beach at almouth and 3 miles or so from alnwick. We liked it so much we intend booking it again for Summer 2011!

“Very comfortable and enjoyable stay” We stayed in Uppper alnbank this summer. The flat is very clean and spacious. I believe we were one of the first people to stay in the flat, the accomodation was obviously newly refurbished and decorated. Well equiped kitchen, all new appliances. The flat really has everything you need for your stay. Lots of nice touches such as maps and local guide books all provided. There is no garden or outdoor space but you are right in the heart of alnmouth so everything is litteraly on your doorstep.

“What you see is what you get.” Absolutely perfect place to stay if you are visiting Northumberland and this cottage offers fantastic views, great location and very comfortable relaxing surroundings. To be able to sit in the evening and watch an owl hunting in the adjacent field whilst the sunsets over alnmouth is idyllic. Alnmouth is an easy stroll for walkers of around 2 miles or a quick trip in the car, with good parking near the boat yard or all day on the common next to the beach. We could not fault this cottage as it has everything you need for a relaxing break and the owners are onhand if required. Best night sleeps we have had for a while and we just loved the peace and quiet. This is definitely on our list for a revisit at some stage.

“Warm, cosy and relaxing in the middle of November” As before (we stayed at the Midwood Cottage earlier this year) the booking, payment and whole exchange between ourselves and the owners, Louise and Christine, couldnt have been easier or smoother. On arrival we found, as before, a tray with wine, chocolates and a home made cake - soft fluffy towels, and fresh crisp linen on the very comfy bed! The Lodge was very welcoming, a modern bungalow with everything you could possibly need, including a wonderful log burner for that extra cosy touch! Alnmouth is a very pretty seaside village, one main street with lots of lovely places to eat, no noisy bars or slot machines! The views and scenery are breathtaking, walking is a must as there is so much natural beauty. Three nights fly by and we always wish we had longer here.

“All you need and more for a visit to Northumberland” We stayed for just 3 nights but see it as an investment to come back soon for a longer break . The cottage ticks all the boxes , for comfort , convenience and cleanliness and is in a fabulous location for either touring the wider area staying local or just staying in and relaxing. The facilities and furnishings are modern and of good quality and we certainly felt well catered for , not forgetting the little welcoming gifts on arrival... We will be back , this is a real gem...the owners really do look after you with pre arrival information and notes on what to do .

Great centre

After a stressful year this was just the sort of relaxing holiday we needed. Great position within the village and plenty of eateries in walking distance (including the Indian takeaway from the pub next door - I recommend the hash-o-bash duck!). Good centre for travelling around Northumberland which we hadn't visited much before. Lots of helpful info in the cottage, too. Whinges were few - it would have been nice to have some outside space but appreciate that's not possible - also the door from the back bedroom was unlocked but led nowhere except to a small muddy area which I shouldn't have trodden in anyway! Re the village itself - we shouldn't have to pay for access to the beach at the end of the day, around 5pm. Surprising how difficult it is to access the beaches (other than alnmouth itself) when your mobility is restricted. Recommended trips - boat from Seahouses to Farne Islands; long round trip Berwick-Jedburgh-Kielder; Rothbury a lovely village despite the memory of the Raoul Moat "shoot-out"; Alnwick; Tynemouth; Bamburgh Castle. There's still more to do so we expect to come again. … see more

Lovely cottage, friendly owners, clean, comfortable, relaxing an

Cottage was spotless and very romantic - lovely modern decor, gorgeous four-poster bed. Even nicer than it looks in the photos. Great location for exploring the area - we walked on the beach, went to alnwick Castle and Gardens (inc the Treehouse restaurant!), Dunstanburgh Castle, Barter books...all within a ten-fifteen minute drive. Friendly, helpful owners. Will be recommending to friends and family who want to explore Northumberland. … see more
Upper Alnbank
A fantastic apartment in a great location!

Just back from a long weekend prior to Christmas - what a great find! We were with another couple and had axel the greyhound with us so we wanted somewhere near the beach and with lots of space. Upper alnbank lived up to expectations and exceeded them. The styling is fab and it is spacious and light. The owners provide loads of honest info on the local area and the bits and bobs such as the microwave etc (how frustrating it can be not to be able to work out the technology if it is slightly different to your equipment at home!). Our friends have high standards and were as impressed as we were. This place is a jewel - ok there wasn't a steamer for our veg, but that's really the only thing I can think of as an improvement and seems pretty petty - there are plenty of pans etc to manage without! One of the best (maybe the best?) self- catering accommodation we have booked for a long time! Alnmouth also a great find and enjoyed a couple of great meals out just around the corner - literally! … see more

We stayed here in May and were delighted with the property so returned to enjoy another stay. The cottage has everything you could wish for, so cosy, comfy, clean and charming, great location and good parking. Just about to book another visit. We stay in lots of holiday cottages and this one rates well up in our favourites. Lots of plus points and none of the minus ones. Would highly recommend this property. … see more
