“Lovely, welcoming place to relax” A welcome pack is provided which enabled us to have the perfect evening meal on the terrace after a long days drive through France. We spent most of the time relaxing by the pool since the weather was sooo hot, but it is situated right in the heart of a wine region with lots of villages and vineyards selling their own wine to visit. Both Bordeaux and Bergerac are in easy range. Although we did not actually spend much time in it, the cottage interior was beautifully decorated, just the right size and contains everything you might think you require. The owners are available if you need them - but leave you to enjoy your holiday.

“Excellent value” The flat is new, very comfortable, clean and quiet, although you are right in the middle of Bordeaux. It is very spacious, too, and the equipment is very good. With the air-condition, it is no problem at all to be on the 4th floor at high temperatures. From the terrace you really have a postcard view (Garonne, Old Town, Pont de Pierre, Quai des Chartons) and you can reach most of the sights by foot. Any little problem was solved immediately. We had a very nice vacation and would rent this flat again at any time.

“Well presented, well equipped and with friendly, helpful owners” Finding your way to a holiday property is usually the first hurdle and can be quite stressful, not in this case. Comprehensive instructions and a text from Andy on the day all helped to ensure that we found Vine Cottage without difficulty. The welcome pack of essential provisions (including a bottle of wine) all help to make the stay easier. It is an attractive property with a private garden ideal for enjoying the sunshine on good days. Often the level of equipment in holiday properties is a bit basic. Not here, the kitchen has everything a keen cook needs including sharp knives which is a bonus. Andy is ready to offer advice about the locality and the odd indulgent treat from Richard's baking was very welcome too! Overall a very relaxing holiday in a friendly, well-run cottage.

“Comfortable and tranquil ...” The room was clean, comfortable and relaxing with good all round views of the vineyards and surrounding county side. Great en-suite with excellent shower. English hosts were warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, breakfast on the patio area. Booked B & B as attended a wedding nearby, so one night only, would have stayed longer! There was a holiday cottage on site with swimming pool, great for families. Good value for money, would go back there.

Luxury Villa in the walled village of St.Emilion
Beautiful, well located and large villa

The villa was great. Roomy throughout, air conditioning in bedrooms, beautiful floor and counter finishes, and nice furnishings. Very well located to village center but quiet. … see more

Great location, great view

This is a large, very comfortable and very clean flat in a great location. There are lovely views from the terrace and excellent shops, restaurants and bars within 2 mins walk. It was still very warm in early September so we appreciated the new a/c - which cools the whole place down very quickly. We got a very friendly welcome from the owner when we arrived, and the flat has many tourist brochures with ideas about how to spend your time in Bordeaux. The city itself is charming and it's very easy to get around by just walking or on trams/hired bikes. On Sundays there is a great local food market on the waterfront directly opposite the flat. I'd also recommend a visit to St Emilion - which is about an hour away by bus (cost approx 5 euros return). We also went west to the coast at Cap Ferret and arcachon, an area worth seeing if you have time.see more
Malbec - Bed entre Bordeaux and Bergerac
A wonderful getaway!

We had a great stay. The location is perfect, within a few minutes of the local towns but very peaceful. The owners were very friendly and helpful, but equally, very respectful of our privacy. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and large in comparison to others I have stayed in. I felt at home immediately. I can highly recommend this place. So much that we have booked in again next year!see more
ROSE COTTAGE WITH POOL AN HOUR FROM BORDEAUX & BERGERAC AIRPORTS
Heaven for wine lovers and those wanting a relaxing break

This accommodation was well laid out, spotless and sufficient size for a couple to stay at. The interior was a through room with a 2 seater sofa that was very comfy to snuggle up on after the sun had gone down. The kitchen was functional and met all of our needs during our stay. The mattress on the double bed was very comfortable and was not too soft or too hard. The shower worked perfectly and because of the skylight the bathroom was well lit during daylight hours, and sufficiently lit by the overhead bulb in the night. The private patio overlooked the pool and was warm into the late evening. We usually ate here about 1900 and stayed out until about 2100 when it became very dark, even with the outside light. It was also a nice area to sit in in the late afternoon if you wanted to be out of the sun and just relax. The pool itself is a reasonable size for the property, and its surrounding area was clean and well maintained. There are sufficient sunbeds and umbrellas for 3 couples to share the pool without it seeming overcrowded. Andy the owner was very welcoming, friendly and full of good ideas of about what to do/see in the surrounding area. If you are really lucky, the Richard will bake at least one cake during your stay. We got a Victoria Sponge cake that was divine. We had one small issue arising during our stay and Andy dealt with the issue promptly and with the minimum of fuss. We could not have asked for a better host, who was available without being intrusive. The wine tour with Andy is a must. It was the best day of our trip and we learnt a lot about the region, its wine and the other guests on the tour. The lunch that Andy took us too was also of a high standard, particularly considering where it was (a local builders cafe) and the cost. My fiancée is a pescitarian was easily accommodated by them with notice from Andy. The first stop on the tour was a proper Chateauin a 'castle' with a lovely view of the Fronsac region. This was a very commercial exercise, but the tour through the wine cellars where 1000000 bottles of wine are stored was a highlight. The second stop was in the Pomerol region and the vineyard we visited was a throwback to the 1960s in its philosophy and techniques. This chateua (not castle) is very near Chateau Petrus and its wines are of a very high standard too. The owner Hugh is a very typical Frenchman who has a wonderful life story and welcomes you as though you are a long lost member of the family. He cracks open a barrel of wine for you to sample and serves it in glasses via huge pipette. It is not only a wonder to behold, but also a joy to sample, and the samples keep on coming. For quality/price, this would be the place that I recommend you buy the majority of your take home wine. Unfortunately, Hugh does not ship. The last chateau we visited was right around the corner from the accommodation, and produced the wine that was in the accommodation as a welcome gift. This was the best visit from a social point because you are welcomed into their lives/house to sample their wine and you feel like an honoured guest into their lives. The wine here is also good, but to my palate I prefer the Pomerol region. Our only complaint about the wine tour was that we wished it had happened earlier in our stay. We cannot recommend this accommodation or the other 2 apartments here strongly enough and will hopefully be returning next year.see more
VINE COTTAGE WITH POOL AN HOUR FROM BORDEAUX & BERGERAC AIRPORTS
Excellent base for the Bordeaux region

This was our 2nd stay here - the first time we've ever made a return trip somewhere. The cottage is of a high standard and whilst it's a shared pool area, you do have your own private garden for relaxing in. St Emilion and the surrounding area are stunning and you can't help but be totally relaxed when you're there. Andy is a font of local knowledge and can make many recommendations on where to go/what to do/what restaurants to head for or avoid. He also introduced us to some fantastic local chateau owners where we could go for wine tastings and to stock up on wine for back home. Richard is a mighty fine chef and provided many culinary treats during our stay! The cottages provide a great base for exploring the region, although the local villages and towns provide enough to keep you entertained if you don't want to travel far. All in all a really lovely place to go on holiday and we're already thinking about when to make our third trip back to Vine Cottage.see more
