Elounda Solfez Villas
Wow!!

We stayed here for four nights recently and couldn't have been happier. Ippo welcomed us on the first evening with keys and full description of the villa: 3 bedrooms with a family room, kitchen, and our own pool! After a week of close quarters (i.e., small European hotel rooms), our family of four was grateful for the chance to spread out, make a few of our own meals, and relax. The villa was clean, very modern, and well laid-out. It had 3 levels, each with a balcony and/or patio, so you are enjoying the incredible views wherever you are. We didn't want to leave to go sightseeing each day. My one caveat: the villas have incredible views because they are built on a steep hill overlooking Elounda. Climbing the driveway in your car is not for the faint-of-heart! The basic drill is as follows... 1) Put your car in first gear; 2) Floor it!;) and, 3) If there are cars coming down the driveway the same time you're going up, you have the right of way. We never did have to test #3, thankfully, but our little VW Polo did cough and even stall (twice) on this steep (1/2-mile?) stretch of road. A little harrowing, but we'd still stay there again because *every* other aspect of the villa was outstanding. … see more

Perfect lodging for a East Crete

This location in Mikro Vathi is perfect for exploring east and south east part of Crete. With immediate access to the main road agios Nikolaos - Sitia, you will avoid traffic jams so common for tourist cities. On the other hand, it won't take you more than 7 minutes drive by car to reach the centre of agios Nikolaos, the most beautiful small town on the east side of Crete. For those who are seeking quiet holiday, the villa with its lovely green courtyard and splendid mountain and sea view is the right choice. The owners, Yanna and Yannis, are dear and generous people, who decorated the interior of the house with lots of love and respect for Cretan tradition - the living room is like a small museum with amazing family photos and traditional utensils from the old days - here you can see how Lassithi plateau and agios Nikolaos used to look like decades ago. Kitchen is equipped with everything you can possibly need (lots of dishes, even raki and wine glasses) and all electric appliances are working flawlessly. I recommend using the outdoor barbecue for fresh fish (tzipoura) and local lamb (don't waste your money on pork and buy meet in private butcher's shop, not hypermarkets) - we did it twice and it was perfect to enjoy dining on the terrace. The beds are very comfortable, there are nets on the bedroom windows against mosquitos and flies and in the bathroom there's even a small chair, in case you run out of the hanging space - Yanna is really thinking about everything. Not to mention a welcome basket she prepared for our arrival, sweet and savoury treats during our stay and presents for goodbye, we were really touched. There is enough space for two parking lots and cars are safe because Matias, a good-natured dog, is watching over them with occasional help of a young poppy Vasilij :) This was the most comfortable and the best lodging we had so far on Greek islands and I hope we'll come here again next year. Sarakina Spiti .. pure relaxation
A Jewel off the mainbeat - a dream for relaxation and de-stressi

This is a beautifully located house to totally relax in... everything is updated and decorated with the owner's personal touch. A lot of love went into this home to ensure travelers find all the amenities they are used to. The terrace is a wonderful place to take in the beautiful sunsets... have a glass of wine and just close your eyes and enjoy the peace and quiet you don't get in the city. Markakis Seafront 2-bedroom Apartment
Wonderful location

The location of this apartment is wonderful and contained everything we needed to make us comfortable for our stay. It has a homely atmosphere and is decorated in traditional Cretan style with all mod cons included. The bathroom is quite basic, but is very clean. It is ideal for anyone who doesn't want to use a car, as everywhere is within comfortable walking distance. We are hoping to stay later in the year, a high recommendation from us as we don't usually visit anywhere twice! … see more
