“wonderful country retreat” The Old Dairy is a fantastic country holiday retreat. You can walk for miles and miles without even getting in your car,,, our dogs loved it. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable, warm and inviting. We spent our days walking our dogs, coming back, lighting the fire, making dinner and cozying up in front of the fire and a DVD. “Fantastic views, Really felt we were in the heart of Wales.” The service was fine, we could phone the owner for information or her eggs. We were never intruded upon, but felt she was there to help if need be, give local info about restaurants or beaches. We liked the home, it had a cottage feel with all mod cons including a washing machine in an outhouse. The only snag about the beds was that my daughter [45 yrs] slept on the spare bed in the double bedroom. She found it incredibly hard and woke up stiff and painful. She didn't want to share the double bed with me, found me disturbing [up in the night.] We had to go a few miles into Betswy Coed for food, but the Spar there had everything we wanted and stayed open late every day so shopping was not a problem. The distance to all the different mountains took quite a while to get to, the situation was good, but perhaps not quite as central as we would have liked. Not a big deal really, but we only had a week and we wanted to do so much, a lot of our time was travelling. I liked the views over such a vast skyline of hills and the lovely wild flowers, streams and walks straight from the house. We didn't like sky television, couldn't see the programmes we wanted, they couldn't be found. The boys liked the peace of the place - they had come from the busy city of Shanghai, but being boys, they wanted to play football and found the garden a bit too small for that. I don't think they were too impressed with the games room, but as we were out most of time, these issues were minor. I know they enjoyed their holiday immensely, they had wanted to go to Wales for a long time and they reffered to the fields, the sheep, the beaches and their different hikes many times when they got back to my home. They wrote and thanked me warmly when they went back to Shanghai.

“super place” We spent a lovely week here in the summer. The house was beautiful, and full of character...only complaint was the shower in the en-suite was miniscule, and the shower curtain would stick to your legs if you took a shower! The kids loved the barn...and so did the parents! Lots of things to do, pool, badminton, table tennis, trampoline, darts etc even when it was raining. Beautiful cake was made for us on arrival...yum! All in all it was a great place to return home to, when we had a day sight seeing or shopping! Little patio at the back is a real sun trap in the morning, and we sat at the front in the afternoon. The owners were really friendly, yet give you your privacy which was really appreciated!

“fantastic location and lovely warm welcome” we had a fantastic week made all the better for the warm welcome from the owners who called for our 3 children each morning to come and help feed the horses and tolerated our 2 year old throwing the stones from the driveway into the water trough! This barn is in a wonderful location, close to Chatworth and Bakewell, right in the Peak District with beautiful walks right opposite. we will definitely go back!

“Secluded but not remote, very comfortable” There was a real attention to detail in the cleanliness and preparation of the rental. It made 'moving in' so easy. The log burner and comfortable beds made the environment one in which to instantly relax being able to watch superb skies pass by Wonderful cycling and walking. Access to interesting places and Hay on Wye was fantastic for pottering and bookshops. The kitchen at Hiraeth made cooking a pleasure - there are places to eat round and about but you do need to drive to them. Staying in was no hardship Beautiful and characterful properly, wonderfully presented and plenty of space for boots, wet kit and outdoor clothing. Superb walking straight out of the back door and up on to the hills.
