Bran is situated 30 Km from Brasov & 190 Km from Bucharest & is an excellent base to se the majority of the most renowned of Romania's treasures. The region between Bucegi & Piatra Craiului has sparked a series of historical episodes, from prehistoric days until current times, all due to one major geographical & historical factor: the Bran Gorge.
The Bran Gorge, one of the most important trans-Carpathian passages, has had a dynamic history. Its story has been characterised by two major components: the trade routes of its crossroads, & the recurring military invasions that utilized them.
A natural amphitheatre, guarded from the East by the Bucegi Mountains & from the West by the Piatra Craiului Massive, the Bran Gorge offered, due to its concave space, a wide panorama both to Burzenland (Tara Bârsei), & to the hills & valley of Moeciu. It is the gateway between the Transylvania & Valachia regions with one side lined by the Piatra Craiului mountains & the other by the Bucegi Mountains. Bran boasts the most visited castle in Europe, after Windsor Castle. The Castle was built in the later 14th centry to protect the pass from the invading Turkish armies but this is just one phase of a very colourful & rich history..TripAdvisor property ID 2340579...Read more
Carpathian (Bran) Holiday Villa - Craiasa Branului Bran, Transylvania, Romania
Additional Location Information
Bran-Predelut is the village directly joined to Bran, starting almost at the castle itself. it is a quiet, private affair & the choice for many well heeled Romanians at weekends, yet still retains all its ancient traditions. There is evidence of live here from 10,000 years ago! sot there is a stillness, a wisdom that words cannot describe. The castle area is busy by day, but the Craiasa Branului villa is 3km away & is totally tranquil. Even though it is only a 2 minute drive, because it is on a country track, it is rare to see more than 10 cars pass all day. Direct neighbours are 2 former Romanian Prime Ministers, so you are in good company.
Inside the garden there is parking available for 3-4 cars in. A car is essential here in the village of Bran although taxi's in Romonia are some of the cheapest in Europe. There is no need for a 4WD vehicle even in winter. Snow chains are recommended though if extreme snow exists.
Best solution if flying in, hire a car from the airport & drive up. Or, get a train to Brasov & hire a car, or for people with no car, simply get a train to Zarneste & take the 7km taxi ride.

A quiet place to stay . I enjoyed the days of peace and charm of the countryside place .
The villa is comfortable and well equipped accomodation;a real fire, comfortable bed and a lovely living room. A very good location and worth the price to follow the spirit of ancient place .
Lovely to wake up in the morning ,with a coup of coffe , and have a stunning view over Piata Craiului Mountains from the balcony and terrace. It's seems that nobody interrupt the silence of the mountains .
Owner is friendly and did his best to help with information about the surroundings and make us feel well.
