Description
Au pres de la Valée des Saints is situated 100m from the heart of the hamlet of Trévenec in beautiful countryside near the border of Cote D'Armor and Finisterre. Trévenec is just 5 minutes from the new heritage site of the Valley of the Saints and the nearby village of Carnoet and 15 minutes from the attractive market towns of Callac and Carhaix and the extraordinary rock formations at Huelgoat and just 35 minutes from the sea. It is within easy reach of the attractive tourist towns of Morlaix, Quimper and Concarneau and offers a choice of lovely sandy beaches on the North, West and Southern coast of Brittany.
The Valley of the Saints is a unique heritage project begun in 2009 and now comprising over 100 3-5m high granite statues of Breton saints set in 38 hectares of hill-top meadow with a wonderful 360 degree view across Central Brittany. This project is unique in Europe and is becoming a major tourist attraction; entrance to the site is fee.
The cottage is ideal for a get-away-from-it-all break for couples or for a family holiday in safe surroundings or as a base for exploring many of the best places to visit in Brittany
The village has wonderful star- or moon-lit "dark" skies.
The cottage benefits from a lovely living room looking out onto the sheltered patio and garden which provides a safe environment for children. The kitchen looks out across the fields, whilst upstairs three generous sized bedrooms with one double and two twin rooms provide ample accommodation. The cottage is beautifully furnished and equipped to give you a home from home at any season of the year and is ideal for couples looking to get away from it all, families seeking well-equipped accommodation for 4 people plus two children, cyclists and walkers alike.

Large lounge/dining room with open Breton fireplace, beamed ceilings and tiled floor, well furnished with comfortable seating, cushions, coffee tables, dining table and chairs. Freeserve satellite TV. Staircase to first floor. French doors to patio/garden.
Fitted pine kitchen with fridge, electric oven/grill/microwave, full gas cooker and hob, beamed ceiling, tiled floor. Door to driveway.
Bathroom with washbasin and shower cubicle and washing machine. Separate W.C. next door with tiled floor. Beamed ceilings.

One bedroom with double bed.
Two bedrooms with twin pine single beds in each. Please note that the second twin bedroom is accessed through the double bedroom only.
Duvets, pillows and all bedding. Fitted carpets. Character beamed ceilings to all bedrooms.
The property has thermostatically-controlled electric heaters in all rooms.

From the lounge there are french doors to a suntrap patio complete with garden furniture/barbecue, and on to a lawned garden.
The cottage is south-facing and not overlooked by any other properties.
There are views out to open countryside from the front of the property and pleasant walks nearby. The nearest village is about 5-10 minutes drive away. There is ample off-road parking.

Response from the owner However, we do not accept that the house furniture is old and broken down or that the house is dirty. We were there just two weeks before you arrived and the house was clean and tidy when we left. There were no other guests before you and we know that our cleaners always leave the house clean and tidy when they go in to prepare the house for our guests. My wife had removed and washed all the crockery and cutlery during our visit and all the surfaces were wiped clean, The beds are not damp or damaged and we have never seen a snail in the house!! The house is about 200 years old and has been well refurbished but is of a particular character known as a longere. The furniture is in good repair and has been chosen to be appropriate to the character of the property and items have been regularly replaced as needed in our time as owners and the photos of the interior on the website show quite clearly what it is like. The living room and upstairs bedroom were re-decorated last year, the velux windows and blinds, the back door and the large downstairs alcove window replaced also and a new patio sunshade purchased. The electric heaters have nearly all been replaced. Since your visit we have had other guests whose views of the house have been much more favourable and we do monitor the cleaning of the house to ensure that it is ready for our guests.

“Peaceful, well equipped gite.”
Lovely cottage in a very peaceful location. It is very comfortable and the bedrooms are clean, light and airy. There are lovely big patio doors with a view to the garden. Everything you might need is provided. John was very helpful both by e-mail and telephone. We hope to return.
