About Columbus

Once belonging to the Creek Indians, Columbus has a long history. Named after Christopher Columbus, this city is located at the opening of the Chattahoochee River.

The city was a hubbub of export and was one of the most important industrial centers of the South. Thanks to the development of the railroad, shipping significantly increased in the 1850s.

You will also find Fort Benning Military Reservation close by, as it sits right on the Alabama-Georgia border. Visitors will be able to enjoy plenty of activities if they decide to stop by here!

Columbus has since become quite the tourist spot.

Thanks to its location by the Chattahoochee River, there are plenty of recreational activities on offer. Even if you're just looking to relax, you'll easily be able to do this in many of the districts.

There are plenty of reasons to make Columbus your vacation this year!
