The apartment is quiet as it is 5 stories up, with dual-paned glass throughout and no walls are shared with any neighbors. If you have more than 6 people, there is an extra double mattress to sleep two more, and a dining room table for 8. For your comfort, all rooms have black-out curtains, there are portable heaters, a wood burning and an electric fireplace, a double electric blanket, and extra pillows and blankets, and unlimited hot water. There is a full-sized washer with hot water and gas dryer for your use. We use only hypo-allergenic fragrance-free detergents.

I feel all the previous reviews say it all. So I would like to add that Nanci is extremely helpful in making your stay as easy and informative as possible. Questions about transportation, restaurants, groceries, banks, tours and drivers are all available in her instructions and on the in-house computer. And if you need answers on any other issues Nanci and her manager Bev are very responsive. I absolutely loved the view from my bed of the city and mountains. It is a fabulous place at a perfect location.

This condo has all the amenities anyone would want. The location is a 10+. The balcony at the top of the 5th floor has amazing views of the city and surrounds. We would watch the skies change moment to moment and walk to anywhere we wanted to go. Having a laptop there was the icing on the cake. Plenty of cooking utensils. The beds were so comfortable. Laundry facilities perfect as we stayed 6 weeks and didn't pack a lot. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay!

The apartment was decorated by a true designer, no detail left out! We had everything we needed and more, location was superb and being sound proof really helped with the downtown traffic we could not hear anything outside unless we opened the door. The beds were the best we had in Ecuador! The host Naci & Jessi were so helpful and nice. I look forward to returning in the near future.

We would highly recommend this apartment for anyone who will come to see Cuenca. The location is couldn't be more perfect, it is in walking distance to all major attractions and restaurants. The apartment is very clean and comfortable as described. The kitchen is fully equipped, the bedrooms are beautifully decorated, the beds are very comfortable. Nancy and Jesse are excellent hostesses and generally just good people. When we had a family emergency situation they helped us as much as they could. We would recommend this place to anybody who wants to combine luxury and comfort.

First, we want to say that your apartment was great in so many different ways. It was easy to find from the airport and Beverly made checking in so very easy and showed us everything we needed to know about your place and things to do in Cuenca. She was so full of information and with all the additional information you have put on the apartment computer, it made our stay so easy and enjoyable. We knew that if we needed anything, Beverly would have been there for us.
We used the web site that had the map and suggested sites as our daily guide. It made our lives so easy when selecting places to eat and things to see. We did not get to all the places but everyone we visited was outstanding. The apartment had everything you could ask for to make a visit feel like home. My wife loved the Directv and DVR. We were there during the us Open and she was able to record matches and watch them in the evening. The electric fireplace was great to take off the chill in the evening. We only slept in the front Master but the bed and covers keep us warm and cozy. The location was the best, we could get anywhere by foot and enjoyed our walks by the river.
If you are looking for a great place to stay in Cuenca we would highly recommend this apartment. It has plenty of room for more than one couple and a great location for visiting Cuenca. It will be our choice for future visits as well

The condo was great. Beds were super comfortable and it is spacious and well equipped. The owners were great to deal with, payment was easy and they went above and beyond to ensure there were no issues with our stay. We loved the bacony, being able to sit outside and watch and listen to the city go by was cool.
Location is perfect, it is in a good spot in El Centro within walking distance to anything you need. When we return to Cuenca we will certainly stay there again if it is available.

This property is in a great location and has all the amenities necessary for a very comfortable stay in a foreign city. The owners have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay memorable. They have a great DVD collection for your few hours of down time. Highly recommend it and would stay there again.

My family and I have rented apartments all over the world, and without question, this apartment is one of the best. The location, in the middle of the historic "centro", and 2 blocks from the Tomemamba River, is unbeatable. Nanci, and her friend, Beverly (who acted as property manager), were extremely hospitable. The apartment lacked for nothing. Each of my 2 boys was very happy to have not only their own bedroom, but their own bathroom as well. The expansive veranda was a real joy, since the apartment is higher than most other buildings in the centro, so our views were expansive to the North (to the old and new cathedrals), East (to the mountains) and South (to the new city). The private washer and dryer allowed us to pack light, and the full kitchen with dishwasher allowed us to enjoy breakfasts and some other meals in. The extensive DVD collection meant no arguments over movies. And all this for such an affordable price! We look forward to returning to Cuenca, and to this apartment.

My fiance, along with 2 of his sisters (all of us 50+yrs of age) just came back from paradise. Nanci and I had been corresponding long before we took this trip, so I already felt like she was family. Altho' we didn't get to meet Nanci/Jesse, Bev was there when we arrived and she's terrific. I've moved 34 times in my life, and..not to exaggerate, I never wanted to leave! We all truly felt like we were in "Donald Trump" accomodations. Just to add to what others have mentioned, planes flew by and we couldn't even hear them due to the soundproof windows. The beds/linens/pillows were the best. I probably took 50 pics just of the penthouse. We walked most of the time altho' taxis were readily available right outside our building. We ate at "Bananas" almost every day for breakfast. Parque Calderon right down the street has several restaurants that we frequented. Even tho' we had a top of the line kitchen we ate out every meal except two (when we were taking an early excursion before restaurants opened). This is coming from a gal who doesn't eat out except when her fiance splurges at "Waffle House". :-) It's so inexpensive to eat out in Cuenca, you can't afford not to. We had met a couple in Quito when we visited there for 5 days (I heard him speaking English :-). We made contact w/them when they arrived in Cuenca, and quickly became friends, taking a bus to little villages, eating out, shopping, etc. :-) We invited them over before they left for the airport to head home to Texas. They were so impressed that they wanted me to send information so they can reserve the penthouse next summer. This was our 2nd visit to Cuenca, the city, Lord willing, that we'll be living in asap. We love the people, weather, food, the "family-oriented" atmosphere. This is "Heaven on Earth". We love Cuenca! We plan on a 1-1/2 to 2 month stay in Cuenca next summer to find our little paradise, thanks in part to Nanci and Jesse. :-)

It was simply awesome to stay at Nanci and Jesse's place. Two King beds, super comfortable and two beds for the kids. It is the place to be in Cuenca. The balcony is a great place to watch the lovely people of Cuenca. Get a Panama (Cuenca) hat when you are there as a gesture of friendship and compliance with local custom and you will receive a better reception from the local community. We stayed for 18 days. We would do it again in a minute. As a matter of fact, the family did not want to leave!

I just spent 8 nights in this a+ condo. Everything was as stated by the owner and actually exceeded my expectations. Nanci was super helpful providing complete answers to my unending questions. An especially nice asset was the provided phone and a complete office arrangement. The condo was super clean and comfortable. The terrace was a pleasure at all times. Location could not be better. Close to Calle Larga...shopping...Cathedral...restaurants. I felt totally secure in this building and Beverly (local manager) as well as Luis (security) were always available should I have a question. I highly reccomend this condo for travelers both first time and repeats. I will me more than happy to visit this property again. 5 Stars for sure. Read more
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! I'm thrilled to hear that our condo exceeded your expectations, and that you especially enjoyed the free local cell phone, laptop and printer, and of course the comfort, cleanliness, location, security and management. I'm glad I was able to assist you with answers to your questions, and appreciate your ability to reciprocate with answers to my questions thanks to your extensive travels. Thank you for your business and we look forward to hosting you again on your next visit to Cuenca!

This was our 1st trip to Ecuador and Cuenca. We had a great time and staying in Nanci and Jesse condo was part of a great experience. There condo is very well decorated, very functional, great views of the city from the awesome balcony, but lacked in functionality due to only 1ea bathroom out of 3 working. We worked around the problem to insure we had a great stay. The property manager Beverly was a great asset and big help during our stay. We would like to come back and hope that the problems encountered are fixed for our next stay in December. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I'm happy that your family had a great time and loved the decor, views, balcony and manager. However, I feel terrible that your stay was negatively impacted by emergency maintenance. When you reported a leak from the toilet base we were quick to act, but discovered that we needed to replace part of the drain line. This process would make quite a mess, a terrible smell, and take at least 2 days. Since your family had only 3 days left, we didn't want to disturb the three of you further and render the sink and shower unusable as well. You'll be happy to know that as soon as you checked out we immediately replaced that drain line and the fan and outlet in the other bathroom. We also performed a system flush which we will now be doing as part of our quarterly preventive maintenance. We've since had another guest stay and confirm that all 3 bathrooms now function perfectly. We're confident that when you return we'll be able to make it up to you with the 5 star stay your family deserves. To that end, we do hope you'll be able to take advantage of the compensation we discussed and appreciate the opportunity to serve you and your family again.

Flawless stay with the family in the best part of Cuenca

We are seasoned world travelers as well as vacation apartment rental owners in aruba. I have to say that Nanci and Jesse did a fabulous job setting up this wonderful apartment for the ultimate Cuenca experience. We plan to come back as soon as we possibly can. I could wax on with superlatives ranging from the friendliness of Beverly apartment manager To the comfort of the luscious king size beds with high quality premium mattresses and bedding or the incredible views off the balcony both morning noon and night but instead just carefully read the reviews below mine and you get the gist of the experience staying here.
After checking out the other locations around Cuenca that we could've stayed there is no doubt in my mind that by Far this is the number one location to stay in. Bar none. If you want further clarification contact me via email and I'll be glad to give you more details! Read more
Your high praises mean a lot to us coming from guests as well-travelled as yourselves. Your 5 year old son has travelled more than many adults I've met! Of course as the owner, I could listen to you wax on with superlatives for days, but any more glowing and people are going to think I wrote this review myself. But seriously, thank you so much for your business and for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We're so happy that your family enjoyed the plush king beds, the incredible views, and the friendly manager (who just raved about you guys as well.) I really appreciate that you took the time to investigate Cuenca and share with future visitors how our location is by far the best. Thanks again for your comments, and we look forward to providing your family with another flawless stay during your next visit to Cuenca!

My sisters and I stayed recently in this beautifully appointed penthouse where we were most comfortable and satisfied. All amenities of home, such as a completely outfitted kitchen, games, movies, etc. were provided. Beds. sofas, chairs were comfortable and views to the mountains lovely and ever-changing. It is on the top floor of a professional building with many levels of security provided. However, we walked the local streets in the daytime and early evening, sometimes alone, and never felt threatened. There are markets and restaurants just doors away and it is a short walk to major plazas and other locations of interest.
As in most of Cuenca central, there is a lot of traffic in the street below and much honking during peak times but with doors closed the only sounds that were intrusive were rather loud fireworks exploded somewhere in the vicinity during a major holiday. The laundry facilities are a wonderful mid-trip benefit and all appliances worked well. You will not find a homeowner more communicative and solicitous on your behalf. From first contact to last we received timely, thorough communications and insights on issues from banking in Cuenca to whether or not we could find peanut butter for sale. It is difficult to find a lodging in the historic district that is accessible to the disabled. This one, with its elevator that opens at the door of the penthouse provides that benefit should it be needed. The only stairs are those up a flight to the laundry room. We enjoyed having our own spacious bedrooms, 2 of which open onto the balcony, as well as a large and comfortable shared living space also open to the balcony to enjoy each others' company. There was very reliable wifi, a provided computer and telephone for local calls. Nanci is very generous with her time, energy and efforts to assure a comfortable stay for her guests. I highly recommend the penthouse. It is a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at this penthouse apartment with our two teenage kids and it was perfect! Although our travels through Ecuador were amazing, we did not often have comfort. That all changed when we got to Cuenca: The comfy sectional couch, heavenly beds, hot showers and drinkable water! The location, decor, amenities, and the view all exceeded our expectations.
Nanci and Jesse were out of the country, so their friend Beverly picked us up from the airport and showed us around the apartment. It was all seamless, except we didn't realize that we were on our own to get to the airport at the end of our stay. It would have been easy to catch a taxi but we thought we would just hike to the airport with our backpacks. My advice is to take a taxi.
The stay at this apartment was definitely the best part of our trip to Ecuador. Thank you Nanci and Jesse and Beverly!

I stayed in this beautiful recently renovated penthouse for 5 nights and it was everything depicted in the photos plus. I've been in other places in Ecuador and if one finds a comfortable bed you feel like you have hit the jackpot but this really is the entire jackpot. And you have a great property manager to settle you in and answer those questions at the beginning of the stay that always come up. She stayed to show us all we needed to know and was available if we had other questions pop up. The owners left nothing undone for beauty and comfort and convenience - even picked the right location in El Centro! You can be out your door and get most anywhere things are happening in a few minutes or you can stay up on the large terrace and watch the clouds float by after you've just watched one of umpteen Dvds they have available. The kitchen is gorgeous and the appliances are top of the line. There isn't anything I needed that wasn't already there. Overall the best place I have been in Ecuador and a number of other Latin american countries - hands down!

Our stay at the Penthouse was more than we expected. Starting out with the property manager Beverly, who was great and very helpful. The location is perfect, all the rooms are well appointed, more than enough room for the 4 of us. I would definitely rent the Parque Place Penthouse again. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here with our in-laws and our son and we were not disappointed! This place is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and right in the center of town. We have stayed in many places in Cuenca and one thing that caught our attention is how quiet this apartment is. They put special windows in that cut the city sound down quite a bit. This is a great place to stay for that special occasion! In fact we hope to stay there for our 25th anniversary.

A great experience from the moment we booked the apartment until we were ready to go. The owners and apartment caretaker are professional, conscientious, and are very helpful. Wonderful Penthouse in Center of Cuenca
Left on 03/18/2013 for a stay in March 2013 | A FlipKey verified reviewer
We stayed March 2nd to March 14th. The location is as described in downtown Cuenca. You are blocks aways from many attractions and wonderful places to eat. It fun to walk across the street each monoring and buy breakfast breads and sit on the large balcony and start the day with a cup of coffee. The interior finish of the penthouse is first rate. We made meals in the well appointed kitchen. The three bedrooms are large and the beds were confortable. A great place for 2 couples to share or a family. The manager Beverly was wonderful checking in to see how we were doing and answering our questions. The unit is on the forth floor overlooking downtown Cuenca. Private eleavator to the penthouse floor. Loved the washer and dryer as we were able to pack lighter as we could wash our clothes. The noise level inside the unit was quiet as the outside glass was very thick cutting down the outside distraction. Drivers love to use their horns. The beautiful main park was 2 blocks away. If you are going to use the kitchen markets are just a $2.00 cab ride. I must also mention the building security person Luis was also wonderful. Each day he greeted us as we went and came back to the entrance. The big thing we loved was the space of the unit compared to staying in a hotel room. Nice open floor plan and very relaxed place to stay and enjoy Cuenca. One block away a local bar with 2X1 Bloddy Mary's starting at 8:00 a.M. Cuenca is a wonderful city to visit and the relaxed feeling in the Penthouse added to the experience. The food in Cuenca was just great from a large lunch for $2.25 to the best places for $12.00. The local people are wonderful and the city felt safe. Take normal steps as you would in any city. Do not dress with flash and do not wear a lot of jewlery. Keep your cell phone secure, wallet in your front pocket. Take just enough money for the day. Staying in this Penthouse will add a very positive experience while in Cuenca
Thank you so much, Jim, for your kind and thorough review, and for being such excellent guests! We also had our favorite places when we lived in the penthouse, but now you make me want to return and try eating the fresh-baked bread on the terrace or perhaps in a picnic by the nearby river. I'm glad we could make your stay as comfortable as possible, and that you enjoyed the central location, elevator, plush beds, stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, and acoustic control windows. You are right about the horns in Cuenca, and there are also car alarms, roosters, and barking dogs depending on your area. Replacing the windows ended up being a huge challenge in the UNESCO heritage area, so I'm glad to hear that the new windows enhanced your experience. I'm sure your tips and suggestions will come in handy for our future guests. Thanks again for taking the time to write this review, and I'll be sure to pass your positive feedback on to Beverly and Luis!
