“Superb apartment in excellent location”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2016

This is an exceptionally well-designed modern apartment within an historic building in the heart of the oldest quarter of the city. Literally a few minutes from the cathedral, the city walls and other sites it is a perfect location. Whilst the steps of the ancient alleyways keep you fit it it isn't long before you're close to the bars and restaurants near the River. Beautiful apartment in a beautiful city.

“A magnificent house in a gem of a city...”

Reviewed 13 Nov 2015

The house is really a work of art by a very talented architect/designer. The thought, the details, the workmanship altogether created a place of comfort, warmth and understated beauty. I stayed in the lower apartment, El Jardi. The garden/terrace were where I began each day.. The tolling of church bells only enhance the ambience, as you are right around the corner f on the Cathedral. With that said, you will be climbing the many stone steps to make your way home each day. It's a delightful, charming walk through the maze of ancient narrow and winding lanes... But not for anyone with ambulatory issues, of course. I must mention also, the professionalism of the communications with Juan Miguel, as well as that of the house manager, Montse, who so kindly had set for me a hot pot of tea with two fresh pastries and a sweet red daisy, knowing I would be tired and hungry upon my arrival. I was shown the house in entirety, as well and if you are traveling solo or in a larger group...this house cannot be beat. Don't hesitate. Just do it! A memory of a lifetime at a very reasonable price!

“Excellent stay: Perfect combination of architecture and location”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2014

We stayed for four nights at the house (El Jardi apartment) and we would be happy to come again in the future. The house has been restored to highest standards and the location in the middle of the old town of Girona is perfect for short strolls through the city, picking up groceries or just going out for dinner. Everything one can need is available (Nespresso coffee-maker, decent hifi and plug for your iPod,...) The attention to details is very high. We were welcomed by Montse Ollé. She showed us the apartment and gave some good recommendations for restaurants and shops. Communication with the owners was quick and without any problems.

“Magical location, incredible space for family of 4, planning our return!”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2013

Stayed here with our teenage daughter and we were all thrilled-it's a once in a lifetime experience. Location at the top of the old city by the cathedral feels like you've been dropped into a fairy tale. The apartment in an ancient house is a modern fantasy done to perfection by the wildly talented architect-owner. Bedrooms, bathroom and living room are immaculate and spacious (with plenty of room for 4 as long as you don't mind sharing a bathroom.) Hip decor is worthy of a glossy magazine feature. Kitchen is fully equipped. Yard is peaceful and private and the private plunge pool was a godsend after walking the steep hills of the gorgeous village. No AC was not a problem as it's breezy on the hill and thick stone walls kept it cool. We were hesitant about the 5 night minimum, but it turned into a positive as we explored mind-blowing Catalonia--there is much to do and see in the tony town (you can walk the Roman wall and buy Prada at a discount in July!) And the surrounding area has several 2 star Michelin restaurants close by. Plus we were quite happy to have time to relax in the beautiful apartment! You don't need a car but if you have one be sure to follow Juan's directions as the GPS will get you lost in the town's labyrinth Only caveat is this is not for people who can't walk stairs as you must walk down many town steps to restaurants and shopping, and then back UP to Alemanys5!!

“Beautiful apartment in heart of Girona's old town”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2012

Centrally located in a sensitively and beautifully restored old town building, El Jardi apartment is comfortable, attractively designed and well-equipped with the added bonus of a private garden and small plunge pool. Every effort is made to help guests feel welcome and we especially appreciated our early entry time on a day of monsoon-like rain! I stayed in this apartment two years ago with my daughters and was so entranced that this time I brought my husband to enjoy it with me. I highly recommend it with no reservations whatsoever.

“Lovely apartment in the historic centre of Girona”

Reviewed 28 May 2012

This was a lovely Apartment, just around the corner from the Cathedral and in easy walking distance to everything! The accommodation is excellent and very comfortable, the photographs on the web site reflect exactly the quality of the finish and the furnishings. The Kitchen is a little difficult to use as the cupboards mean you have to bend under them to get a the work surface but it is well equipped. The garden was perfect, relaxing, cool but still very smart, just like the rest of the apartment. Girona is a wonderful place to stay for however long you have.

“Stunning”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2012

We stayed in the ground floor 2 bed apartment which is huge and features a beautiful patio/garden area with pool. The sympathetic conversion has contemporary design elements that blend seamlessly with the old creating a unique space that is very relaxing. As soon as you walk in you realize that you are somewhere very special that could have only been created by an owner/architect with real vision, talent and love for the building. We will be back. We ate many lovely restaurants in Girona the best of which was called Nu. We hired road bikes from Girona Cycle Centre who are great and can show you fantastic rides from the city out into the countryside.
