Description
Drive south from charming Chiang Mai for some 30 kilometers and you come to this spacious retreat in the green and fertile Mae Wang Valley.
The teak-and-stone house (baan in Thai) resembles a large country house somewhere in Europe, with high-ceilings throughout, a large open-plan dining and living area, with wide doors that open out on to a spacious veranda.
A big western kitchen, a large master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a second double bedroom, one single bedroom and the main bathroom with a rain shower complete this spacious and well-provided oasis.
All bedrooms are fitted with air-conditioners and mosquito nets.
Local fish swim free in the large pond for you to feed them or easily catch on a line lazily dangled from the cool Thai-style teak sala.
Peace reigns at this place, and the evenings and mornings are cool as you sit on the large veranda overlooking the pond. There is a wide panorama of the distant mountains to the west in the direction of the northwestern border town of Mae Hong Son and forested Myanmar that lay just beyond those picturesque peaks.
The property is located 1 km from the next village which has convenient stores, an everyday fresh market, a pharmacy as well as typical Thai stores. There are many small Thai eating places around. A local bus leaves regularly from the village to the city. Driving is easy in this part of Thailand and the streets are exceptional good
