Description
The Elmfield is a lovely large Victorian villa with 8 en suite boutique style bedrooms. There is a large terraced garden with gazebo, barbecue and fire-pit. Inside there is a Freeview TV lounge with separate games area with table football. There is a large commercial kitchen and dining room with tables and chairs to seat 16-18. Out front there is a private off street car park with 10 spaces. Great for walkers and cyclists the house is just off the south west coastal path and nation cycle route 27. Ilfracombe's stunning harbour area is a short walk with fabulous restaurants and pubs. The indoor heated swimming pool is open year round.
The garden has some lovely long reaching views over the Wilder valley, and the Wilder brook runs at the bottom of the garden. The Elmfield is available for Self catering hire. Caterers and staff can be arranged for special occasions.
Originally built as a gentleman's residence for a wealthy victorian spring water merchant, The Elmfield is a large comfortable house which is perfect for getting family and friends together. We are minutes from the Tunnels wedding venue and a great value option for wedding parties.
Close to the coastal path the house is an ideal base for groups on a walking holiday. Ten minutes walk from Ilfracombe harbour we are perfect for sea fishing and boat hire. For beach activities, tunnels beach with it's amazing rock pools and tidal bathing pool are literally a stones throw away, and for surfing, kite surfing and coasteering we are just a short drive away from the super surfing beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton.

Response from the owner We are very saddened that our house did not live up to your expectations, and that you did not enjoy yourself. We have been hosting holiday makers here for over 13 years and in that time we have had, on the whole, mostly people come and have a great time with loved ones. We do appreciate any and all feedback as we are constantly working on improvements in the house and on our guest experience. When issues do arise we always do our utmost to address them without delay and we would have much preferred the opportunity to address your issues in person and while you were here. Our mobile phones are always on and it would have taken 2 minutes to switch on the heating (which had not been on all summer and is rarely required in early September). It was an exceptionally rainy weekend when you stayed, TV'S and internet are very hit and miss in this area especially in wet weather, a call or text and we would have immediately got you re-tuned to the strongest service. Likewise bulbs would have been instantly replaced. We don’t usually allow such a large number of dogs in a booking. There is an additional charge for dogs and we always make sure we are clear on the phone about how much there will be to pay, it is unfortunate this information was not relayed to you. During your stay, the pool house changing rooms unfortunately flooded - this was due to 3 dog balls making their way into the guttering. These have been removed. The pool is hired twice weekly by a professional childrens’ swim school and is usually popular with guests. The house has not had a cinema screen for 3 years, we replaced it with a large TV as guests had difficulty using the screen set-up. We have removed all mention from our own advertising but have no control over 3rd party websites. Our 'awful' garden with BBQ, firepit and secluded terraces is usually a hit with guests. We have hosted over 50 weddings here with couples choosing the garden for their ceremony after viewing it. Although it does come into its own in fine weather. Our cleaning service is a professional local company and we have reported the comments to them, they sincerely apologise if you found the cleanliness below parr. Thank you again for your feedback, it’s a shame we didn’t get the opportunity to make your stay better.
