Description

Bull Pen is a lovely, holiday barn on Ford End Farm, a working farm at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. Ivinghoe is close to the Ridgeway path, the Grand Union Canal and about ten minutes to Tring Station, which has rail links to London in 50 minutes. There is a watermill and fishing lake on site, under different ownership.

Bull pen is a two storey property, with three bedrooms two shower rooms and a family bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. This is open plan to the dining area, with a large dining table which comfortably seats six.

The lounge has two large sofas, and a televison with Freeview. There is also a downstairs shower room and toilet. Upstairs the master bedroom has a king-size bed (which can be converted to a pair of twins), and en-suite shower room. There are two further twin bedrooms (which can both be converted to king-size) and a family bathroom with bath with a shower.

The Bull Pen has an enclosed garden with a washing line, there is also a table with two benches. Ample parking is available for tenants use. £30 worth of electricity is included in the rental for this property. Electricity cards are available to purchase if more electricity is required. Heating by electric radiators.

There is a fishing lake on site, and arrangements can be made to use this. there is also a Watermill on site, Ford End Watermill. This little mill, recorded in 1616 but certainly very much older, was in use until 1963.

Restored by volunteers, and now maintained and run by Ford End Watermill Society, it is the only remaining working watermill in Buckinghamshire with original machinery. It retains all the atmosphere of a small farm mill of the late 1800`s.

“Bull Pen iIvnghoe”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2021

The Bull Pen is very spacious and comfortably accommodates 6. The bedrooms could do with a deep clean especially the carpets and en suite shower. The farm is ideally situated to explore the surrounding area. There is no entertainment for children on site.

“Love this place!”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2019

We had a three week stay in The Bull Pen due to our house flooding. In a stressful situation this place really was my saving grace! The location is beautiful, Ivinghoe is a lovely village and the locals all made us feel welcome. The cottage is perfect for a family of 5, and with exposed beams and surrounded by a family run farm, it’s perfect for a break from reality! Paul is a fantastic host and made us feel like nothing was a problem. The park is just a 4 min walk and was a big hit little with our little ones. Right next to the park is the curiositea cafe, where you can get a great English breakfast! Buckinghamshire’s last working water mill is practically in the back garden and a great little visit - we came home with freshly milled flour. Another recommendation was the pick your own farm which is a 5 min journey to the next village, The nicest way to spend an afternoon and we came home with a wheelbarrow full of vegetables, which we made into soup! However f you don’t fancy cooking but fancy a lovely Sunday dinner and some amazing puds, then the rose & Crown is a 5 min walk. You’ll find friendly locals and a nice kid and dog friendly atmosphere. All in all couldn’t have enjoyed our stay here anymore!

“Fantastic home from home stay in spacious well furnished cottage”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2018

A very well furnished home from home with everything you need to make your stay special. Paul (the owner), has been exceptionally helpful and always on hand, if needed. The cottage is very spacious with every facility you need and very clean. Locally, Tring is a few minutes away, a lovely town with good shopping facilities and local markets. My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.
