Description
Can Benet is an attractive house in a peaceful, idyllic riverside location. It is set in 2 acres of secluded grounds with a natural swimming pool. The house is surrounded by stunning woodland and mountain scenery. The River Merles flows beside the property and has many picturesque waterfalls and large pools.
Can Benet is within a Protected Natural Area, designated to preserve the wildlife. It is very tranquil and unspoilt, with natural beauty. The grounds around the house are bordered by a stream on one side and by the river where there is an inviting pool. It provides the perfect secluded place to cool off in summer with swimming or relaxing in the inflatable boats and rings. Numerous lovely waterfalls and large natural pools to swim in are just a short walk from the house.
The house is rustic style, with a comfortable lounge, leather sofas and log burning stove, a dining room, a large well-equipped kitchen and a separate utility room. There is a second lounge upstairs and a balcony overlooking the mountains. There are four bedrooms with beds for eight people plus a travel cot.
This region in the foothills of the Pyrenees is wonderful to explore by foot or by car. There are delightful villages, Romanesque churches, miles of well-marked footpaths and plenty of fabulous views.
Can Benet is the perfect place to get away to a peaceful mountain environment and still enjoy all the comforts and modern conveniences of home. It is a paradise for children, with a safe river to swim in, dams to build, camps to make and woods to explore. It is a great place for adults too, with plenty of space to relax and soak up the sun, enjoy the scenery, a dip in the river, mountain walks on the doorstep and star gazing at night.

“Absolutely Superb.....Rest & Relaxation getaway”
Let me start my review by saying that this is the most well equipped property we have stayed in. It has all the mod cons you need during your stay and it really is a home from home (the coffee machine is incredible......great way to start your day). The property is also renovated to a high standard and is tastefully furnished in traditional local style. The location is very secluded just as Christine describes it. If you want rest and relaxation (little or no telephone signal and no WiFi) then this is the place. You do need a car and if you want to eat out then you will have to drive. We would recommend going to one of the local farm type restaurants at lunch time where a large three course lunch of local authentic dishes will set you back - 12 euro P/P plus drinks (July/August 2019) and is a must if you love eating authentic Catalan foods and then back to the property for a relaxing evening. Talking of which, having a glass of local wine by the river pool in the late summer sunshine is something to experience and once it goes dark, if you look to the heavens the sky full of stars is just an amazing sight. If you are feeling energetic you can always play a game of badminton in the large garden. Christine, the owner of the property is quick to answer any questions and provides plenty of information about the property and places to visit either by foot or by car. During our stay we had family and friends pop by for a few nights and they also fell in love with the place. The one major problem we had.....we only booked it for two weeks, we could have stayed another month. We will definitely return again in the not too distant future.
