Description
The Granary is a recently renovated stone barn on our smallholding on the edge of the historic village of Richards Castle, named after Richard Fitz Scrob’s castle, one of the few pre Norman castles in England.
The barn has retained all of its charm whilst offering a luxurious and welcoming stay in the beautiful countryside of the Herefordshire / Shropshire borders.Perfectly placed for exploring the area close to many national and local walking and cycle routes that criss cross the landscape including the Shropshire Way and the Six Castles Cycleway (including Richards Castle) as well as the picturesque black and white villages and market towns of Shropshire and Herefordshire.
On the first floor there is beamed, open-plan living space with oak floors and a cosy wood burner, a well-equipped kitchen/dining area leading out to a spacious balcony giving stunning views of rolling countryside. There is a table and chairs on the balcony, perfect for al fresco dining. On the ground floor there is a large bedroom with french doors out to the patio with views over the landscape.
Also on the ground floor there is a spacious shower room. Next to the barn is the converted piggery which now holds a utility area with areas for drying walking and cycling gear and secure bike storage.Outside the barn is a patio area, and the smallholding to explore!
We enjoy the 'good life' here growing and producing our own food and keep sheep, pigs, hens and a horse. All very friendly and very happy to accept the odd apple! Along with the cat and the dog they keep us amused and busy!

“A little gem in Herefordshire (just)”

“Holiday”
Excellent accommodation, very clean, warm and comfortable. The owners were very sociable, willing and helpful. Lovely quiet ambience in the locality. Property was very well equipped but would benefit from a wok being provided.

“A wonderful place to stay”
A delightful cottage in a beautiful location. Quiet and rural, but within easy reach of a main road and nearby towns, villages and country walks. Julian and Jane are most welcoming, helpful hosts. I was so comfortable there that I really didn't want to leave.

“Excellent property with a nice view”
The Granary at Richards Castle is an excellent property Spotlessly clean .Well maintained by the owners Julian & Jayne with a very high spec décor, A lovely view over the Shropshire hills makes for a very relaxing break. We received a very nice welcome pack on arrival complete with a bottle of wine ( which we enjoyed after a long drive )
