Description from owner
Description
The Old Chapel is situated on the edge of the village of Yorkley (population 2,600). Access is via an unnamed lane which is right next to the forest and wonderful walks can be taken from the doorstep. As one of our guests succinctly put it 'we came away for a break and could not have found a nicer place'. The chapel has been sympathetically converted retaining much of its original character and charm. There is lots of pine cladding on both walls and ceilings which gives a wonderful feeling of warmth and relaxation. The floors are old pine. Candles in the evening and a beast of a wood burning fire make this an incredibly relaxing place to be. Bliss! Sitting on the sofa by the fire all you can see is a wonderful forest view... no houses!
Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor, including a large through lounge and dining room with 14 foot high ceilings giving a feeling of space, along with a double bedroom, a small but well equipped kitchen, a large utility room and a good-sized bathroom. Upstairs is another double bedroom on a mezzanine overlooking the lounge.
The Old Chapel exudes a feeling of peace, calm and tranquility; a place where you can get in touch with your soul.
Further details
A welcome tea tray is provided on arrival.
The kitchen is very well equipped as I enjoy cooking so there should be everything there you would hope there to be (but PLEASE let me know if anything is missing).
We have decorated the cottage to give it a 'home from home' feel as I remember a couple of holiday places we stayed at that had absolutely no character whatsoever which I found really depressing.
I hope you enjoy the homely feel of the cottage.
Further details indoors
The cottage has very high ceilings with lots of pine cladding and mainly original wooden floors. The lounge/diner measures approx 31 feet x 18 feet and the high ceilings make it look spacious. There is a 42 inch flat screen TV in the lounge which has Amazon Prime, Netflix, BBC Iplayer etc, etc. We would be grateful if people just watch was is included on the TV, as other films which have to be paid for will show up on our bill). There is also a DVD player and about 40 DVDs (three-quarters of which are suitable for adults and one quarter for children). There are 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each; (one bedroom is on the ground floor and the other is a galleried bedroom with an apex ceiling and wooden beams). There is a fully equipped bathroom with a large walk-in shower, a wash-hand basin, bath and toilet. The kitchen is very well equipped.
Picnic chairs are kept in the understairs cupboard should you wish to take them out on day trips.
Further details outdoors
The small courtyard garden has a table and chairs for 4 people. There are also 2 'La Fuma' style recliner style chairs for relaxing. The garden is lit, so it is possible to read in the garden during the evening in the summer months.
The garden is small but there is a forest just on the doorstep.
Sheep regularly come up our lane and the mostly nocturnal boar can be seen on occasions if you are lucky. Even if you don't see them, you can see their legacy on nearly all roadsides, they churn up all the grass looking for roots to feed on. They have been known to dig up the bit of grass at the front of the chapel a few times too!

Response from the owner Thank you James. What a lovely review! Yes the eateries finish serving food at 9pm. Maybe I should put that in with the arrival details. Four months ago you might have seen the wild boar chewing up the grass in front of the chapel. It's near perfect again after such a short time. Thanks once again. Doreen
