Description from owner

Description

This apartment is in a grade II listed building, offering loads of character. It affords lovely views up and down the Georgian High Street of Lymington.

The property has been refurbished, including a brand new bathroom. We always strive to keep our apartment in the best condition for our guests, therefore we have made the following further improvements in 2018: New sofa, new heaters on both floors and a new mattress.

Set out over two levels, the first floor features a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and bright lounge (including sofa bed and dining area). There is a large double bedroom covering the top floor, with plenty of room to accommodate young children (if required) or to simply relax and enjoy the views.

Located on the High Street with plenty of shops and restaurants to explore, it is within 5 minutes walk of Lymington Town train station, the Quay and marina.

The apartment has it's own allocated off street parking space.

There is an extensive library of DVD's and books for you to enjoy during your stay.

LYMINGTON:

Lymington is a market town steeped in history, from it's smuggling past to it's more legitimate business of the sea salt industry. As you wander down the High Street you can see how the town has evolved over the years into the yachting retreat it is today. Every Saturday this apartment has views over the market stalls that have an array of items to explore. There are also some fantastic restaurants such as The Haven for a lovely meal overlooking the Marina, to a more relaxed meal in the Kings Head (where the fish and chips are legendary) or if you are looking for a coffee, Ciao Belli serves up a lovely coffee (and some classic Italian food).

A must during your stay should be a walk along the Solent Way towards Keyhaven. Starting at the marina, it follows the sea wall past Lymington marshes and wildlife reserve and offers beautiful views across the Solent to the Isle of White and the iconic Needles. The route is accessible by foot, cycle and buggy.

The local park (Woodside Gardens) has tennis courts, playgrounds, rugby and football pitches. This is a lovely place to go for a picnic and the walk from the apartment to Woodside takes you past some of the historic architecture of Lymington.

If you would like to get out on the water during your time in Lymington then boat tours around the Solent are available from the Quay. There are various options available depending on your preferences.

Or if you prefer to stay on dry land, you can grab some fishing gear, kick back and do a spot of crabbing.

THE SURROUNDING AREAS:

Lymington has the New Forest on its doorstep so it is the perfect location to explore all the villages, trails, forest walks and pubs it has to offer.

You also have Buckler's Hard, quaint Beaulieu and it's motor museum, Hurst Castle and Milford-on-Sea, Highcliffe Castle and Mudeford's beautiful beach, all a short journey by car or a bike ride away. There is also an excellent network of buses should you require them.

DAY TRIPS:

Lymington Town train station is only a short 5 minute walk from the apartment and connects to Brockenhurst in the New Forest where you can spend the day exploring the village and surrounding forest trails or hire bikes and venture further afield (cycle hire is available right next to Brockenhurst train station - maps and suggested routes are supplied).

There is a ferry that departs frequently between Lymington and the Isle of Wight (Yarmouth), taking passengers and cars. Try to squeeze in a day trip over to the island to explore Yarmouth, Alum Bay, hike out to The Needles, wander around Shanklin or soak up some history at Osborne House. Lymington Pier ferry terminal is just a short train journey from Lymington Town station.

If relaxation is what you have in mind, then Senspa or the spa at Chewton Glen should be on your list of things to do. There are loads of individual treatments or spa days to choose from - if you are heading to Chewton Glen then I would recommend having afternoon tea there too!

For the children there is Longdown activity farm, where they can see and hold a range of cute farmyard animals!!

If exploring further afield, then a great trip is to drive to the famous beaches at Sandbanks and catch the chain ferry across to Studland. From there, continue on to Corfe Castle, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove where you can experience some the the dramatic Jurassic coast.

.... or you could always curl up with a good book, a glass of wine and watch the world wander by in the comfort of this lovely High Street apartment!

Response from the owner Hi Wycliffe, I am sorry to hear you found the mattress uncomfortable. I wish you had let us know at the time as we may have been able to do something (some people prefer hard vs soft mattresses, etc). Also as you stayed for 3 weeks, I suspect the topper may have settled a bit (so I could have checked with my cleaner to make sure she was plumping it each time she changed the sheets) We will take your feedback on board (like we did last year when you stayed). Cheers, Nicola
