Description

One of two recently converted semi-detached cottages finished to a very high standard, featuring luxury kitchen, wood burning stove in the living area, family bathroom and two en-suite shower rooms. The cottages stand around a private forecourt, together with four mews style cottages with seating areas and barbecue facilities available in the courtyard.

Accommodation:
Stable door entrance into large sitting room area with exposed beams, feature brick wall incorporating a fireplace with wood burning stove and Freeview TV.
Open plan kitchen/dining area with modern kitchen units and gas hob and electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
Bedroom 3 leading off the kitchen area with 4'6" double bed and TV.
Family bathroom with bath with shower over, hand basin and WC.
Wrought iron spiral stairs off the kitchen/dining area to First Floor:
Bedroom 1 with 5' double bed with TV and en-suite shower room with shower cubicle with seat and radio, hand basin and WC.
Bedroom 2 with two 3' beds with TV and en-suite shower room with shower cubicle with seat, radio, hand basin and WC.

Outside: The cottages overlook a central courtyard with a lawn and plenty of picnic tables and benches. Barbecue facilities provided.
Included: Bed linen, towels, electricity and central heating (gas). Logs for wood burner provided at appropriate time of year.
Stair gate, travel cot (please provide own cot bedding) and high chair available on request.
Tumble Dryer and drying facilities in separate outbuilding by the cottages.

“Lovely place for a break with toddlers”

We really enjoyed our stay at Hurst View, was lovely and peaceful. You are in a mews with 8 other cottages and a shared garden area, so there's a bit of noise from other guests but just what you'd hear in any cul de sac in summer. The property was well presented, just a few niggles in the twin room (one mattress in need of replacement, overhead shower head needs a good clean) but otherwise it was great. It is a little dark downstairs but visiting in the middle of a heatwave we were grateful of the cool. I would say to the owners that they probably need to sort through the kids toys in the garden and remove the rusty, broken bikes, partially strung rackets, etc and clean in the playhouse occassionally as the play kitchen was full of sticky stuff when we arrived. Less stuff but better presented would be much nicer (and safer) for the kids. And some instructions for the washing machines in the wash room would be appreciated :) But it is a lovely place and we would happily stay again.

“Scruffy, dirty (photos sent to owner to prove this statement) misrepresented”

Cottage not prepared when we arrived after 4 o'clock. We were asked to return in an hour while the cottage was cleaned. The exterior looked like a children play zone, with tatty old toys all over the yard. The place looked unkempt, dirty windows and window sills. The interior was dark and dingy, lots of lighting must have been used to produce the photographs. The upstairs shower had mould and was unpleasant. The whole place had the air of a home for the dispossessed. Some of the other cottages had work men staying in them who left for work at 6.30 in the morning. We should have stayed somewhere else but we had prepaid and it was late in the day and our friends were tired having travel from Canada. I would never stay there again and would warn other people that it was not a pleasant environment. I have photographs to prove everything I have stated. I have never had to make a complaint before. I wrote three times to the owner but never received a reply.

Response from the owner Hello, We can't help if there are toys in the yard, probably due to a family staying and their children playing with them. We haven't had any complaints from parents that the toys our 'tatty'. The photos were taken in the summer so it was bright and light, where as you stayed in October. The work men needed accommodation as well and we can't do anything about what time they have to leave. Like I stated earlier we rarely have complaints. We would have hoped if it was causing you upset that you would have came to reception and we could have tried to fix things, instead of letting us know through here. Thank you anyway Abbie

“Very clean accommodation with room for children to play safely”

Very clean, family friendly, safe and quiet. Just a couple of small criticisms - settee slightly broken and also fridge is far too small for the number of people this accommodates. But we had a lovely holiday and returned for a second time this year.
