“Unsurpassable”
Three nights was far too short a time to be at this magical venue. I adored the place. It was an honour to be able to stay here once again (I last visited in 1976 when the house was all private). If y… More

Response from the owner Many thanks Katherine and Tim for the lovely comments. We're so thrilled that you enjoyed Little Hazelcott and the magic had not disappeared with your return visit. If you visit again you are more than welcome to look around the rest of the property and the garden: I think Andy might have mentioned this to Tim. All good wishes and many thanks for the fudge.

Response from the owner Many thanks for your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return one day. We, too, enjoy privacy especially when on holiday so we would always try and ensure our guests' privacy. We're glad that the only disturbance was the cat and you could enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and have the opportunity to unwind.

“A comfy, cosy countryside getaway”
We've just got back from a lovely 3 night stay at Little Hazelcott. The location is so quiet and peaceful, with a field of sheep right on the doorstep, a little bird feeder outside the patio doors and the view of fields from the sofa in the lounge. Sadly, the weather was against us! It was so wet and windy - but it didn't matter because we had a toasty warm cottage to come back to! We bought our 3 little dogs with us and they settled in very well. The cottage has everything, and I mean everything, very well equipped! We were able to wash the dirty dog coats in the washing machine after our walk on the moors and dry them on the radiator for the next day. The bed was comfy, the sofa was comfy (albeit small). There's a little room next to the cottage to store your grubby boots (make sure you check your boots for spiders though!). The owners provided home made cream teas and wine - a lovely touch! If you look in the welcome pack there are plenty of local walks you can do, right from your doorstep (most start from the village green which is a short 15 minute walk up the road) Although, some of the walks are quite difficult - The Horsham Steps walk, for example, require you to cross a fast flowing river using slippery "stepping stones" (huge boulders on a bend in the river). Not great with 3 little dogs to carry! So it might be best to Google the walks first. We chose a 1.5 - 2 hour walk and it took us 3.5 hours... Thank goodness for the Kestor Inn and their home made steak and stilton pie... life saver! I always leave an honest review. The only reason I have knocked off 1 star is because, the cottage wasn't as private as we would have liked. The owner lives next door and above. Although we never saw the owners, apart from a quick wave through the window as we were leaving one morning, the owners front door is right next to the bedroom window (being on the ground floor). We were so aware of the owners presence that we felt like we were staying in a room in their house. Also, I don't think the owners are aware of the noise people make when walking on the ceiling. On the Sunday morning, at 07:40am, it sounded like someone was running up and down some stairs.. on the ceiling. I think it may have been their son as he left through the front door shortly after. Not how you want to be woken up on your quiet relaxing mini-break in the countryside. All that aside, this was a lovely break and I would thoroughly recommend Little Hazelcott to anyone looking for a comfy, cosy countryside getaway. Perfect for walkers and ideal for your little doggy friends (they even have their own doggy supplies cupboard!). Thank you for a lovely stay

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind words and glad you enjoyed the stay, sorry we are unable to influence the weather. We try and keep the annex as private as possible but understand the use of the front door might seem a little distracting - it has never been mentioned before so we were oblivious to it. We have a side door at the far end of the property which we will now get into the habit of using. Im afraid the noise on Sunday morning was probably our German Shepherd coming down the stairs, she can be rather heavy footed - we will endeavour to slow her down, thanks for bringing it to our attention. Again, really appreciate your kind words and would love to welcome you backin the future.
