Chateau du Ludaix offers you the chance to live the dream...You can rent this property with its 7 lovely bedroom suites sleeping 18 people. All are sumptuously decorated with lovely antiques and have bathrooms in the chateau towers with beautiful views over the 7 acres of gardens.
The leopard suite has a double bedroom, a bathroom and a balcony room with a single bed in an alcove ideal for a child.
The four poster suite has a double bedroom with an 18th century four poster bed, a square tower room with a single bed and a quirky bathroom with antique bath and walls decorated with 13 clocks!
The tower suite has a double south facing bedroom, a second bedroom with two single beds, a dressing room with a small child's bed and a lovely bathroom in a round tower
The Romeo bedroom is a charming double bedroom with bathroom and a small balcony which looks out onto a150 year old cedar tree.
The Mama suite has twin beds and another single in the round tower, whilst the Art Deco suite with its double bed is an homage to the 1930's.
The Henri suite is decorated is blue and white with a double bed and a small salon in the round tower where you could easily pass a couple of hours with a favourite book!
On the ground floor you have two salons one with an open fireplace a beautiful salle a manger and a small but well planned kitchen with a range cooker and dishwasher.
On the second floor there is a large games room with table tennis and plenty of space for the kids to run around and let off steam!
Outside there is a large terrace for dining and beautifully managed gardens with a large heated pool.
The village of Marcillat which is a 4 minute walk has a bakery for your morning croissants, a small supermarket, a couple of bars and a tourist office which will help you plan your visit to this beautiful area.
Your hosts live in a wing of the building and are on hand to ensure you have a fabulous stay. Stephanie is a great cook and should you choose not to self cater every night you can have a delicious four course dinner with wine served on the terrace or in the delightful candlelit salle a manger
Make sure you ask your hosts for a tour of the chateau with its 30 plus rooms and its enormous attics from where you can climb onto the roof for a stunning view of the Auvergne countryside. Although parts of the building date back to the late 13 th century it was remodelled in its present form by Count Francois-Cesar de Durat who told his builders to give him 'something that would amuse him'.
Perfectly located in the centre of France Chateau du Ludaix is easily accessible from Clermont Ferrand or Limoges airports and the Paris train arrives at Montlucon a town 25 minutes drive from the chateau. There are so many lovely places to visit in this undiscovered area of France, delightful spa towns, medieval villages and river gorges with stunning views.
The nearby town of Neris les Bains has a newly refurbished spa where you can spend an hour or two relaxing with a superb massage or for the more adventurous there is a world class Karting circuit just 5 minutes away.
The historic and charming towns of Vichy and Moulins are certainly worth a visit and the dramatic scenery of the Parc Nationale de Volcans is a stunning 45 minute drive.
Conveniently situated half way between Calais and the Côte d'Azur, the Chateau offers a great stopping off point for those journeying through France.
