Description
Happy Vale, located in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, has two luxury cottages Bearnagh and Meelbeg separated by a courtyard. A walking equipment/bike store/heated drying room is provided. The cottages have been designed to suit families, walking groups, mountain bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts who want a warm cosy base with mountain walking from the door.
Situated on a hill farm close to Happy Valley in the Mourne Mountains. Happy Vale with a mountain stream running past is a smaller version of Happy Valley.
Meelbeg cottage is ideally suited to a small family or group of walkers/mountain bikers. A well equipped live in kitchen has a sofa that easily converts to a double bed. Outside, a picnic table is perfect for groups eating outdoors while enjoying views of the mountains above and the farmland below the cottage. Ample parking space is provided. The cottage is Northern Ireland Tourist Board approved but not star rated.
One bedroom, sleeps 2 in bunk beds
Luxury bathroom with walk in shower and facilities for wheelchair users.
Happy Vale is a showcase for environmentally friendly systems: ground source heat pump linked to under floor heating, solar hot water, solar PV electricity, grey water system from our mountain spring for flushing toilets, external sockets for charging electric vehicles.

“Happy vale weekend”
From the moment we stepped into meelbeg cottage until the moment we left we had nothing but fun! Gerry is a great host and runs a great establishment. Very comfortable beds and everything you would need to make a great holiday. The views are beautiful and there is plenty to keep one occupied. Thanks Gerry we cant wait to our next visit.

“Short break to county Down”
We had a great few days visiting both Kilkeel and Newcastle and going for a long walk in Tullymore forest. The cottage that we stayed in - Meelbeg in Happyvale was excellent. It was spotless clean with everything we needed and our host Gerry was very friendly and helpful. The location was absolutely beautiful - a great place to escape from a busy life. I only wish we had booked a longer visit and we will definately be back!
