“Absolutely fabulous stay”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2020

Just spent the week staying in this perfect cottage, it had everything we needed. Location was ideal for walking into the town or just watching the world go by. Can't wait to stay again.

Response from the owner Glad you enjoyed Coastguard Cottage. Yes, it is the perfect location for walking - up the Granite Trail, into Donard Park. or along the seafront and into the town. Come again!

Response from the owner I am very disappointed in your judgement in publishing a spurious review of my property. I would never expect guests to stay in "a damp smelling property". My other property is Five star NITB accredited, and has a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence. I have been a host since 2013, yet you choose to believe the writer of this terrible review who tried to blackmail me into sending him money. I would like this correspondence sent to the manager.

“Fabulous position”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2017

Thank you for the great stay. We were very pleased with everything and the position for the village and the view were both great. Also so enjoyed the airshow. Just could not find the Coastguard cottage as it was not marked with name or number, so maybe just think about that. But owner met us there so did not worry us too much.

Response from the owner Thank you Mike and Di. The Airshow was fabulous and you were in a great position for a great view. I hope you find time to visit beautiful Newcastle again!

The harbour view from the sitting room window was like an ever-changing beautiful artwork. Gannets diving, sun rising, fishing boats bobbing about. Everything on the'doorstep', mountains, parks, beach, shops, restaurants. Cottage comfortable and clean, plenty of information about local area. Perfect place for a super holiday.

Response from the owner Sorry for the lack of Internet provision . We cancelled it recently because we are seeking another provider. Response from the owner Coastguard Cottage sits above the main road, overlooking the sea. The approach from King Street and down the hill, past Widows Row Cottages, is the best mode of entry. There is only a parking space for one vehicle. The stairs to the third bedroom (converted attic), lead from the second bedroom. It has a single bed, and is the bedroom of choice for many guests ( especially young people) since it has a spectacular view, via the dormer window, of Dundrum Bay. The other dormer window overlooks the garden behind the coastguard house.
