Description from owner

Description

The ideal location for your stay in the stunningly beautiful Ostuni region. The charming and ancient trullo is the integral and heart of this 3 bedroom villa which has its of your own private swimming pool set in its own private garden! You are only 5 min from the city and 15 mins from the beach resort at Pilone. The trullo has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen-living room with access directly onto a very large veranda and views of the garden. In the kitchen there are all the conveniences you will need, plus a sofa-bed and large family table for the few times of the year when you will dine inside or to quickly have breakfast before you head off to the beach. The sitting area of the kitchen also offers a modern TV and DVD player for your relaxation in the late evening, watching a video or listening to music. Outside the kitchen the veranda offers both covered and open space for relaxing, reading or sunbathing. The whole of the roof area is accessible also as a sun terrace and as somewhere to enjoy the sunset and have an early evening drink. There are good panoramic views of the valley and surrounding area as far as the town of Ostuni from this viewpoint location. There are 5000 sq meters of land surrounding the house where you can feel free to stroll or eat the fruit growing there when in season. There are almonds, pears, pomegranate and of course olives. The trullo sits equidistant from some of the most interesting towns and villages in Puglia.

All the towns of Ostuni, Cisternino, and Ceglie Massappica offer stunning southern Italian streets, churches and castles to visit, as well as the usual range of fine restaurants, pizzerias and bars. Within 30 minutes drive you can also take in Martina Franca with its magnificent atmosphere, fine basilica, opera festival in July and fine views of the Salento peninsula. Within an hour from the trullo you can also visit Bari with its great Cathedral, named after St Nicolas, as well as the football stadium, of the same name, which is home of one of the Italian Serie A's greatest teams. Brindisi is also worth a visit at only 30 minutes away and formerly the end on the Via Appia which left from Rome taking the legions on their way to conquer the Levant. Just beyond that is Lecce, about 45 minutes away, which is a must for lovers of Baroque architecture and grandeur. A car tour of the southern-most part of the peninsular will take over an hour but is worth the journey especially a visit to Gallipoli and the few villages on the way to Santa Marie del Lueca, where a dialect of ancient Greek is still spoken. The Greek past must be explored with a trip to the museum of Grecia Magna in Taranto, taking in,on the way from the trullo, a visit to the ceramic capital of the south is in Lagrottaglie. Just to the north and a little into the region of Basilicata you should take the opportunity to visit the city of Matera, looking like a film set of biblical Jerusalem - it has been the location for many films including Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ.

“Beautifully chilled out Trullo”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2022

We had a beautifully chilled out holiday in Trullo Tranquillo. with our family including a small baby. The huge covered veranda overlooking the pool and olive grove beyond was a wonderful space.

“Definitely Trullo tranquillo”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2019

If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday Trullo Tranquillo is the place for you! When you arrive the first time you wonder if you are ever going to find it. As previous reviewers have said it is on a hill at the end of a pretty rough narrow road! We most loved the fact that apart from sleeping we lived outside all the time we were there. The Trullo has a lovely terrace with a dining area and sitting area and you can lounge around the pool too. The situation is great as there are lots of interesting places within 30-45 mins. We had lovely trips to Ostuni, Martina Franca and Locorotondo, Alberobello, Monopoli, Cisternino. Lecce is a fabulous city and we took a train there from Ostuni (50 mins) as a break from the often crazy Italian driving. We visited beaches along the Adriatic coast too but they are not sandy beaches like our local Scottish ones ( admittedly the water is warmer) and we probably wouldn't rush back to them. Bari was interesting too. Don't miss the Ostuni Saturday market which has a fabulous array of shoes as well as the usual fruit veg, household stuff. We found that communication with Brendan, the owner, was excellent from the booking stage through to the accurate advice and instructions pre visit and Tom who looks after the property was also very helpful when we had an electricity hiccup. We will definitely be back!

Response from the owner Thank you very much for that fine endorsement of Trullo Tranquillo. Both Tom and I very much enjoyed having you as a delightful and communicative guest. We hope to be of help again in the future (hopefully with some improvements made to the road!).

Response from the owner Dear Geoff and Merise! Thank you for the splendid feedback on your time at Trullo Tranquillo Ostuni. I have taken full note of your issues with finding the locations for those not using SATNAV coordinates and also those like your family who arrive by car from other directions than Bari or Brindisi. I will amend any instructions to take the individual needs of future guests in mind more carefully and also recommend that when having the difficulties such as you had, that everyone should call Tom immediately for assistance either on the phone or in person to avoid any stress. Thank you again for your great review and helpful feedback.

Response from the owner I am obviously very sad that the poor wifi situation proved to be such an obstacle to my guest/reviewer's enjoyment of our property. I will ensure that we upgrade the internet considerably taking account of the poor coverage our property has from the conventional mobile telephone- based telephone-based system we have used for several years. I have also asked the team preparing the house to check that crockery and glasses which have been put away in cupboards by previous guests, are properly cleaned, ready for the next guests.
