Boynton Beach, Florida

About Boynton Beach, Florida

Known as ‘America’s Gateway to the Gulfstream’, Boynton Beach takes its name from the American Civil War major Nathan Boynton, who built the Boynton Hotel here after being attracted to the area by its beautiful beaches and sunny weather. Boynton Beach has been a popular vacation destination since the 1920s, thanks in part to its year-round warm weather.

Whilst you’re here, don’t miss the opportunity to dine at the marina on some of the freshest seafood around, and visit Due South Brewing Company to sample its craft beer. Here you can watch beer being brewed in the taproom and enjoy a pint of the cold stuff. The brewery is open from noon-10pm most days, closed Mondays, with tours available at weekends.

What to do

Stroll around the city to take in some of its history and architecture. See The Andrews Home, Boynton Beach’s oldest home, and Boynton Women’s Club, designed by the architect Addison Mizner in the 1920s. Kids will love a trip to the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum And Learning Center with its interactive exhibits and pirate ship playground.

When the sun is shining, a day out at the Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge will give you a chance to spot snakes, turtles, lizards and more, or go hiking, boating, fishing, kayaking or mountain biking on miles of trails.

OceanFront Park is a family-friendly beach where you can rent a lounger and parasol while the kids let off some steam in the playground, or head for Boynton Harbor Marina where you can hire a fishing charter, rent a jet-ski or go scuba diving. For golfers, Westchester Golf and Country Club is a popular course.
