About Flagler Beach, Florida

Flagler Beach takes its name from the railroad developer (and oil tycoon) Henry Flagler, who was responsible for developing much of the area into a vacation destination. Lying some 30 miles north of Daytona, Flagler Beach is much less developed than its lively neighbor, with a three-story cap on building construction ensuring it maintains its scenic surroundings. Where Daytona may be a popular spring break destination, Flagler Beach appeals to families who come here for the six miles of golden sandy beaches and wealth of family-friendly attractions.

Whilst you’re here, don’t miss the opportunity to dine at Snack Jack, a 1950s-style shack serving up the freshest seafood and Ahi club sandwiches. You’ll find plenty of oceanfront restaurants serving an array of fresh fish and seafood, as well as international cuisine and local specialties too.

What to do

Start your trip with a visit to Flagler Beach Historical Museum, with its permanent exhibit on local history. Then take the kids to Flagler Beach for a day out – it’s dog friendly, and generally uncrowded. Here, you can splash about in the water or take part in watersports from body surfing and boogie boarding to surfing and kayaking. You may even spot sea turtles nesting on the beach.

For a fun family day out, head for Marineland Dolphin Adventure in nearby St Augustine, or rent a bike and explore the miles of coastal trails. A little further out of town, Gamble Rogen Memorial State Recreation Area is a popular spot, with 144 acres where you can swim, fish, hike, bike or just enjoy a picnic.

For something a little less active, there are always big-name stage shows at Flagler Auditorium and smaller productions at Flagler Playhouse.
