Description from owner

Description

The Old Vicarage is timeless, situated in an unspoilt, rural peaceful village, with panoramic views over the meadows to the River Severn, Cotswolds and Forest of Dean. It is set within four acres of beautiful mature gardens and a cider orchard. There is a hot tub in the private, secluded garden of the Stables. The Bulls make award winning craft cider and have been for three generations. There are walks straight from the garden into the fields leading to the River Severn, famous for the Severn Bore, wetland birds and the stunning lightscape across the Severn. The village of Awre is three miles from the Forest of Dean, renowned for its walking, cycling, canoeing, photography, bird life, animals and has historical market towns and pretty villages all steeped in history. It is within easy distance to of Cheltenham and the Cotswolds, Abergervenny, Brecon and the Black Mountains, Chepstow and Monmouth.

Guests who enjoy staying at The Old Vicarage are those that appreciate peace, beauty, countryside, being active, creative or relaxing, observing birds, wild life, listening to the wind in the trees, without sound interruption, seeing huge skies, reading, talking and may be drinking cider!

The Old Vicarage has four large bedrooms and a single room. One of the large rooms can either be a super king or two singles. In the Stables which is joined to the Vicarage by brick but access is across the small courtyard as seen in one of the photos, there are two double bedrooms. One is with a king size bed and ensuite. The second is a smaller room with either two singles, or a kingsize bed, or one single and a cot. The Stables is the main socialising area as it has a large kitchen/dining room/conservatory and an upstairs lounge with fabulous views. in the lounge there are also two discreet 3' beds, which can be zip and linked to make a super king. There is also a top quality, generous sized sofa bed. These are only used for a group of 12 singletons where each person wants their own bed. If you have small children between the ages of 2 and 7, please note that if the children are sleeping in the Vicarage and parents are socialising in the Stables then they could feel isolated. A baby alarm works between the property, so babes in cots are fine. Best if small children can sleep in the Stables with their parents.

In the Vicarage there is a drawing room with open fire and an adjoining elegant dining room, making for a sophisticated evening. For a treat you can book your own private chef, or have meals ready prepared, delivered, to give a truly relaxing evening.

There are extensive gardens, the Stables has its own private garden over looking the Severn with a BBQ and hot tub. In addition there is an area under the canopy of mature oaks for wild cooking over an open wood fire. The accommodation is ideal for workshops for photography, writing, literary, church groups and those either riding or watching the Severn Bore as well as just relaxing and being family or with a group of friends.

We had a wonderful weekend staying at this gorgeous house ! We were made to feel so welcome and they ensured our stay was perfect. The grounds/gardens are beautiful and perfect for children to play in ! The house is very remote but as long as you are aware of that then you will have an amazing time !

“fabulous family get together”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2021

The vicarage was a perfect place for our family post lockdown get together. The stables kitchen/ social area was very well equipped with everything we needed- it was so lovely to be able to all sit round the table at last ( there was 10 of us plus a baby and dog!). The vicarage itself was so beautiful with spacious accommodation for us all. We loved the cider talk and ploughman's lunch- Nick and May are certainly super hosts as they were so attentive and friendly yet discrete. I would recommend without hesitation the vicarage and stables.
