"LA VICINIA" (150 sqm - 2 floors - sleeps 4 people)
Lovely fully renovated medieval stone house with two floors, forming part of the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra. In olden times it was the administrative and judicial centre of the complex.
On the garden side there is a beautiful 3-arched portico and a private garden, with direct access on the castle’s main garden.
On the first floor there are 2 en-suite double rooms, each with air conditioning and its own bathroom with shower . It is very well furnished with pretty copies of Venetian furniture, which has been painted by local artisans.
On the ground-floor there is a vast room, with a dining area on one side and a sitting area on the other side and access to a beautiful arched portico for al fresco dining on warm Friulian evenings and for relaxing.
The house has its own private garden with access on the castle’s main garden.
In front there is a private parking place.
The complex of the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra is formed by the main building, where the owners still live, surrounded by a series of beautiful stone buildings in olden times used as guards' houses, administrative and judicial centre, stables, artisans' house, granaries, archives, rice mill and the ancient tower.
The main buillding is connected by an arch to the church of St. Nikolaus, formerly the castle's chapel, where catholic masses are held on Sundays at 7:30 and 11:00, on one side and to the ancient tower on the other side.
The setting is very beautiful and the whole castle complex is surrounded by lovely gardens, crossed by spring-water streams and rivers.
The quietness and positive atmosphere of La Vicinia is ideal for families, for people searching a place to rest and tank energy and for those interested in discovering the hidden treasures of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, which is still rather unknown.
Next to La Vicinia there are two further lovely medieval stone holiday houses called “Casa Rambaldo" (90 sqm) and “Casa Artuico" , with private gardens, which were the former Guards' houses.
The holiday homes of the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra still preserve their ancient flair, are very nicely furnished and have been provided with every comfort.

1) "La Vicinia": 150 sqm - two floor stone house - sleeps: 4 people
Formerly the administrative and judicial centre of the castle, it has a door towards the borgo and a door towards its arched portico with access on the garden
2) "Casa Rambaldo: 90 sqm - one floor stone house with a mezzanine - Sleeps: 4 people
Formerly one of the two Guards' houses of the castle, it has a door towards the borgo and two doors towards the garden.
3) "Casa Artuico": 80 sqm - one floor stone house - Sleeps: 2 to 4 people

The holiday homes of the Castle of Strassoldo di Sopra offer the magic atmosphere of one of the most important and ancient castles of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which has been slowly and beautifully restored preserving its charm.
Strassoldo is a precious gem of a lovely and still unknown region which is not overrun by tourists. In fact, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, has many important historical sites, a lovely nature with many different wonderful landscapes ranging from high mountains, through rolling hills and green plains to rock or sand beaches.
The castle is situated in a very central position from where it is easy to reach all these attractions.
Only to mention a few, Venice is reachable in 1 hour's drive, the ancient Roman colony of Aquileia (the second biggest colony of Rome) is reachable in 10 minutes, the golden beach of Grado in 20 minutes, the beautiful town of Udine in 30 minutes, the marvelous Adriatic Gulf with the town/port of Trieste in 38 minutes, Slovenia in 35 minutes and Austria in 60 minutes.
The guests of the castle can make very nice walks in the Friulian countryside, go biking through cute little rural villages, go swimming in the nearby Adriatic sea and make nice day excursions to many interesting regional sites and towns.

The house is rented on a weekly base from Saturday 4 p.m. to Saturday 11 a.m.
The owners speak fluent English, German and French
20% initial deposit required to confirm booking.
Settlement 20 days before arrival together with a 20% guarantee deposit, which will be given back when the guest hand over the keys and the owner sees that no damage has occurred to the property.

“La Vicinia in Strassoldo Castle was an excellent base for us”
We stayed here for two weeks in September 2012. It was a good choice and an enjoyable place to stay. The location is excellent if you have a rent car. It is close to the Autostrade. You can visit Trieste, Venice, Slovenia, Croatia, and many interesting smaller towns in Italy. The apartment is quite nice and is well equipped. We highly recommend this apartment.
