Description

This environmentally responsible Ecohouse is architect designed for the 21st Century to cater for all age groups including people with impared mobility. It was built in 2013, is heated with geo-thermal floor heating, powered by hydro electricity, ventilated by air-to-air heat exchanger and designed and built to the highest national standards.

Located in Eyrarbakki, the old centre of southern Iceland, this is the ideal base for exploring the wonders of the area through day trips from The Blue Lagoon and the Capital Area to Thingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss, Skálholt and many others (see also www.south.is). All these destinations are within an hour´s drive from Eyrarbakki. For the more adventurous, Landmannalaugar, the mountain Hekla and the glacier Eyjafjallajökull, to name a few, are alaso within an easy reach. Just walking on the coast by Eyrarbakki and watching the waves break on the shore is also a very special experience.

The house has two double and two single bedrooms; a fully equipped kitchen; dining table for 8 people; sitting area with a TV, DVD,CD, internet access and a small collection of books and music and an exhibition of the work of a local painter; bathroom with a shower for handicapped people and a laundry. On booking you will be sent a Welcome Packet with general information and information about the property.

Interaction with guest

The house is locked and the key is in a keybox outside of the front door. When you have made the last payment, I become your e-mail from TripAdvisor and send you a welcome letter including the number to the box. Then you can let yourselves in. However try to meet all my guests upon arrival, explain where things are, where the router password is, show how the heating works etc. To make this possible it´s helpful if you send me a SMS when you´re there. I live nearby and can be there quickly. I don´t mind my guests asking questions about possibilities and what the vicinity has to offer. The welcome letter has some information about what one can expect and some tips.
