Description

Ty Mad is situated in the quiet village of Plenee-Jugon. The cottage stands in half an acre of garden, with lawns and fruit trees. It has the advantages of being private and centrally located, making it an ideal family holiday home. Within the village there are a couple of bars, a small supermarket and two village bakeries for fresh bread and croissants. The cottage has a spacious lounge with beams and a granite fireplace with log stove. It is comfortable with a large sofa and two armchairs. There is English satellite TV, French internet TV, a DVD and CD player, DVDs, books and games. There is a well equipped kitchen/dining room, two double bedrooms on the first floor and a twin bedroom on a mezzanine floor. It has a good sized dining table and chairs for six. The bathroom has a full size bath and an overhead shower. Outside French windows open on to a patio area in front of the house, there is a outdoor dining table with chairs and a barbecue. Beach chairs and parasols are also available. The cottage has a marked parking area on a quiet street.

Getting around

Jugon-les-Lacs is just ten minutes drive away and the medieval town of Dinan 30 minutes, with its castle walls, timbered buildings and port. The village is within two miles of the motorway making it easy to access St-Brieuc and Rennes (Capital of Brittany). It is also easy to visit Paris by high speed rail link from Lamballe. The long sandy beaches of the emerald coast are 35 minutes drive away. St. Cast is a blue flag beach and is great for small children there are also lots of other lovely beaches on this coastline. Most of them are good for exploring rock pools and there are impressive walks along the cliffs.

“Fantastic Holiday Home”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2019

We stayed at this wonderful home for two weeks this August. We were also here last summer, which says everything really. It is simply perfect. Comfortable, cosy and convenient for visiting the area. Our current favourite places are St Cast le Guido and St Malo. The pools in Lamballe and Jugon les Lacs are fantastic too. I hope we can afford to return next year. Thank you for the best holiday.

“Gorgeous holiday home”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2018

Let’s just start by saying that we loved our holiday Lets start by saying we loved this holiday home so much that we have booked to come back next summer for the same two weeks! The cottage is wonderful. It has everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfy; the cottage is spotless and it’s full of nice little extras such as books, cds, dvds, board games and English TV. The wi-if reception is excellent- a lot better than we have at home! The owner has clearly invested a great deal of time and money fitting out the cottage. The huge kitchen diner looks new. It has everything! The dishwasher was a godsend too! The cooker is excellent and very powerful. Food cooked much quicker than expected. The lounge is beautiful and sofa is so comfortable it is hard to peel yourself off it some days. The utility room was well stocked. The washing machine was very clean and works quickly and very well. The French doors lead out onto a fantastic garden that is totally secluded and private. We estimated it’s close to quarter of an acre. It has a pear tree and has a lot of blackberry bushes. Our children loved picking them. Plenee Jugon itself is so quiet and relaxing. Everyone we met there was friendly and helpful. Both bakers are good. There is a children’s play park near the recycling bins on the way out of the village that our 7year olds loved. Lamballe is lovely. We noticed the Methurin Meheut prints in the cottage and made a point of visiting the museum in the centre of Lamballe. It’s great and the shop is amazing. The prints there are very good value and I’m looking forward to getting them framed. Lamballe pool is well worth a visit too- we went 5 times! We visited most of the beaches between Lannion and St Malo. I can’t say we found one we didn’t think was wonderful. St Cast is very lovely with miles of white sand. It’s well worth the drive up to Lannion and the beaches above it. Fréhel is breathtaking, Erquy is great for rockpooling. Our favourite though was Sable d’or les pins. Apart from the golden sand it was very relaxed and quiet. The kids had the best time there. There is a soft play/bouncy castle business near the beach that cost €7 per child for THE WHOLE DAY! They could play on the beach and return to the soft play as often as they wanted. Made for a brilliant and cheap day out. We were very sad to leave on Saturday and cannot wait to return next year. Thank you so much.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry to hear that the restaurants weren't open. We rang them and they said that they are only open at the weekend during January and February because there isn't enough demand. If you go again at this time of year the restaurants in Dinan are open and there is a good Routier in Tramain that is open in the evenings during the week.
