“What We Were Hoping It Would Be”

Reviewed 21 Mar 2015

No, really, we were hoping there would be oregano -- there was. We were hoping the knives would be sharp and that the dishwasher really washed dishes -- yup. We were hoping you really could snorkel out the back door and see fish you've only seen on TV and in aquariums -- absolutely. What we couldn't have hoped: that the cable would be wonky, I'd send an email, and ten minutes later the owner would call me personally to walk me through fixing it. That on a day too windy to go in the water, there would be so many things to do on the island (turtles, hikes, eating and eating and eating) that we wouldn't even care. Hopes exceeded. Such a great place to stay. Such a great owner. Clearly this is not a money-making investment. This is their second home that they let a few other lucky people use. I hope they rent this property as much as they can but always save some time for us.

“perfect getaway for island living”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2014

My husband & I had decided to take our 3 teenagers for their first trip abroad and their first beach/ocean vacation, and a number of factors led us to choose Grand Cayman. We absolutely did not want the "resort" experience, which tends to be largely the same no matter where the resort is located. After extensive research my husband found Frank's villa and this place is what made our vacation unforgettable. The north side of the island is much quieter than the Georgetown/Seven Mile Beach area where all the cruise ships land, and it has a more unspoiled beauty. Although there were residents in the other villas, we almost always had the beach to ourselves and some of the best snorkeling on the island was right out back. Every evening the kids researched new snorkel sites to try out, and with every new site they made the same comment: "Our" backyard has better snorkeling. The fact that they considered it "our" backyard speaks to the homeyness of this villa--Frank & Del have truly thought of everything and our stay was very comfortable. I want to also point out that our family always tries to rent a house when we travel--with 2 teen boys and a teen girl, having a house is so much more enjoyable than staying at a hotel--and this is the best experience we've ever had. Frank & Del have gone out of their way to set up the villa so that any guest can enjoy it to its fullest, and Frank was a wealth of information prior to our trip. I really kept thinking he would tire of my husband's seemingly endless questions, but Frank provided so much information about the island that we were able to plan an absolutely amazing adventure!

“Escape from Brutal Chicago Winter - Vacation in Paridise”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2014

This is a very well maintained property with comfortable, up-to-date furnishings. The view is fantastic, and just as pictured. Plenty of dinnerware and cookware were provided, as well. We spent most of our time between Rum Point and at this lovely villa...just lounging, reading and enjoying the wonderful Caribbean sun. If you are looking for "action" on a daily basis this may not be your place, but if you value a knock-out view, relaxation, and privacy, this villa on the "quiet" side of the island is perfect. One trip to 7 Mile Beach and Georgetown was all we needed and were grateful to get back to real island living. Frank is easy to work with and quick to respond to questions and comments. Tukka, Lighthouse, Kaibo, and Over the Edge restaurants are nearby as well as dining at Rum Point. All very good. A small grocery store called Chisholm's is a few minutes away for everyday items. Fosters Express on the east end about 10 minutes away is also handy. For more serious shopping, Hurleys and a larger Foster's are about 30 minutes away. They stock everything you might get in the us. All in all...after a brutal winter here in the Chicago area, this was a slice of heaven. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa. Thank you Frank and Del for sharing!

“Wonderful!”

Reviewed 10 Feb 2014

This was our first vacation to Cayman and it was fantastic. This villa is beautiful and peaceful. It is on the quiet side of the island, away from the large hotels and resorts. The beach is literally out the back door. We snorkeled every day at the corral reef out back, often several times a day. The reef was amazing and we saw a huge variety of colorful fish ... one day even saw a turtle! One afternoon we went snorkeling at the beach at Morritt's resort (east end on Queens Highway), and saw numerous tarpin fish under the pier, and also stingrays. More than once, we enjoyed going to Rum Point (very short drive from villa) for fancy tropical cocktails and hanging out at yet another beach. We had a fantastic fresh fish meal at Kurt's Corner but most nights just made dinner ourselves. The villa has a very well-equipped kitchen, actually well-equipped everything - with games, books, even extra sunscreen when we needed it. We spent most of a day at the turtle farm and swam with the turtles, and lingered for a long time in their aviary enjoying the birds. One day we went to the Botanical Garden (not far from the villa), and saw gorgeous plants, a couple of turtles, and huge iguanas. The best part was always coming "home" to our villa, and enjoying the peace and quiet. More than one day was spent all day at the villa - snorkeling, reading, walking on the beach, napping, snorkeling again, and reading. Just a perfect combination of relaxation and appreciating the beauty of the island. Frank and Del gave a lot of recommendations that made this a very memorable vacation. We will definitely return.

“slice of heaven”

Thank you so much to Frank and Del- loved loved loved this perfect quiet spot for our beach vacation! The villa is just as pictured, with so many homey touches- comfy pillows on the couches, bunches of beach towels and snorkel gear, and every possible cooking utensil for whatever dinner strikes your fancy! This would be a perfect spot for couples or families like ours. The beach is quite literally outside your door. We loved having our own private beach on the beautiful tropical island. We never ran out of stuff to do- recommendations were listed by Frank and Del and past guests, and the snorkeling right out the back is incredible. Lawn chairs are on the front of the beach for lazy reading in the sunshine, and board games are stacked high. We also loved the music system that we could attach our Ipod to so we could dance while we made dinner... and if we didn't feel like cooking, they were so many yummy places to eat at just a ways down the road. Just incredible to have our own paradise at our fingertips. Thank you again to Frank for being so accessible and helpful in advice and tips for making our stay fantastic. We will be back soon!

“A Week in Paradise”

Frank and Del, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful villa with us! This was the perfect place for my wife and I escape the stresses at home and enjoy a vacation together. With the beach right outside the door and snorkeling in the backyard,we couldn't have found a better place to stay in Grand Cayman. Being on the North Side of the island was much quieter and more peaceful than the hustle and bustle of George Town. Rum point on Sunday morning was a great time and Kirks Corner and Over the Edge right down the street were both delicious! The villa was beautifully decorated and Frank and Del were a pleasure to work with. Thanks again and we'll definitely be back!!
