“Sky's the Limit at SkyView”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2016

Here's the deal: SkyView is a remote, spacious and well-appointed property, which means you can enjoy the house itself, or venture out and discover some of the magic of Nova Scotia's South Shore in an off-the-beaten-track kind of way. We did a bit of both, and had a great week. Some things to look forward to: The sunrise over the Atlantic and the sunset over the forested coast. In between, you can choose to lounge on the house's wraparound deck or take a country walk to Crescent Beach, the local marine museum (it's in a re-purposed church), the local church in a magical forest setting and an ancient cemetery. (We always include local cemetery visits; names and dates say so much about the area's history.) You'll need a car to go farther afield, including to Bridgewater for supplies (30 minutes), but choose the back roads to experience some of the cutest towns you'll ever see. All in all, two thumbs up, including the owner's assistance throughout. Cheers, -Jim, Montreal, QC

We spent a week here,. What a beautiful home this is, spectacular views, beautiful sunsets and a very serene setting. We found lots to do, we done the lighthouse trail, spent time in Liverpool and Yarmouth and visited a lot of small fishing villages, we were so happy to have SkyView to come back to, it is so peaceful and quiet. The people in Nova Scotia are so very friendly,we never met a stranger. We will be back it was AWESOME.

“An absolutely wonderful experience with picture perfect views”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2015

"Wow". From the moment we entered this beautiful home, to every time we caught a glimpse of the stunning ocean views (which wasn't hard to do, as basically every window in the house and the many balconies provided breath-taking views of the LaHave Islands and surrounding areas), this is the word that we continually came back to - "wow". The house itself is beautiful. It's extremely spacious, but feels cozy at the same time. The windows provide incredible views and lots of natural light all day long. There are several beautiful balconies overlooking the islands and surrounding ocean. The kitchen was well equipped with any utensil or appliance you'd require, and a washer and dryer are available as well. For the first few hours after we arrived, we just sat in the atrium in the comfy armchairs, listening to music and taking in our amazing surroundings. It was delightful and relaxing, and I would've been content to do just that all weekend. Having lived in Nova Scotia for my entire life, I was somewhat familiar with the area of Petite Rivière/LaHave from childhood visits to Risser's Beach and Crescent Beach (both within 10 minutes of Skyview). I had never made the trip over to the LaHave Islands, but am so glad I was able to now. It's such a beautiful and quiet area. We also made trips to the LaHave Bakery (a must on your to-do list) and several markets, art and craft shops along the way, just a short drive from Skyview. The Owner of this beautiful spot was wonderful, and more than helpful, ensuring everything was in order so that we could enjoy our stay. His response time to e-mails was very quick, and he also called shortly after we arrived to make sure everything was ok and to answer any questions. He had taken the time to provide instructions regarding anything you may need to know about the house, as well as information on many of the local attractions. We were thoroughly impressed with all aspects of our interactions with the Owner! This was an absolutely enjoyable experience and we're already really looking forward to our next stay. I would highly recommend a stay at Skyview!!

“Relaxing Getaway with Amazing Views”

Enjoyed every aspect of the stay. Mont was great to deal with prior to arranging our stay and provided everything we could possibly need to know before our stay. The location is ideal if you're coming from Halifax and want to get some space to yourself. The cottage is bright, well kept and has everything you could possibly need (Even for an Easter dinner). Loved the wood stove and spent a relaxing weekend stoking the fire and enjoying the great room. Thanks to Mont for sharing this space.

Skyview is absolutely amazing! If you think it looks breath taking in the pictures, wait until you arrive! The minute we opened the doors into the large entry way, we were all amazed! Skyview itself, it very well taken care of and the owners show great pride in this home. It is the perfect place to host family and friends and has ample usable space, large decks, large kitchen (with all amenities), common area and the bedrooms are a very generous size. The master bedroom is a home all on it's own! We have our own family summer home and have also rented many vacation homes over the years, I must say that Skyview is now one of our very favorites. The owners are very friendly and helpful and as mentioned earlier, show great pride in Skyview. We visited for 4 days over new years, and look very much forward to coming back in the summer to take advantage of the large deck space and Crescent beach, which is a beautiful beach only minutes awayout door activities. I highly reccomend Skyview and the pleasure it brings!

“Island retreat with breathtaking views”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2014

I booked this beautiful island oasis as a special last-minute suprise for my wife right after Valentine's Day and it was the most relaxing two days we've had in months! I can only imagine how magical this place would be in warmer seasons, but it was perfect for a winter escape. We certainly had more space than we needed (3 of us including our 2 month old daughter) with 3 good sized bedrooms and a den, along with 2 full washrooms with laundry facilities. The kitchen was fully equipped, with modern appliances, very spacious, and had lots of seating space. Sitting in the atrium with a roaring fire in the soapstone wood stove, overlooking the water with wine in the evening and coffee in the morning was pretty magical as there were blizzard conditions outside and massive waves crashing in the distance . This place has such a warm and welcoming family feel to it, and we felt so lucky to spend 2 nights in this very exclusive property. The owner was in touch with us throughout our visit, answered all questions, and made sure our stay was a memorable one. Highly recommend this private and peaceful location to anyone looking for a true escape to nature with the comforts of a modern home.

“Great Time- 5 Star View and accommodation”

Reviewed 20 Dec 2013

We spent two weeks at Skyview last June and we had a great experience there. The place was as advertised and the views were fabulous.. With the number of decks you can follow the sun around the place over the course of the day. Skyview is a very quiet place but is only about 25 minutes from all the amenities that you will ever need for your stay. We used this as a base for explore the area. It's location puts much of the south east coast within an hours drive for day trip planning. The best beach around is at Crescent beach which is a few kilometers from Skyview. It stretches for a couple of kilometers. Great sand and a shallow slope. We went just before summer high season and practically had the beach to ourselves. The dog loved it. We went by the list of local atractions that Mont supplied and we were not disappointed. We really like the bakery at LaHave River and the local winery (It is reputed to the oldest vineyard in Canada). The marine museum on the road to Skyview is also worth a visit. It provides a lot of history on the area that you are staying. It's worth an hour of your time. The accommodations were top notch with a great kitchen. The only thing it needs is a sharper knife. We had great weather and would have liked to have done more outdoor barbequing but the BBQ was really small. A larger unit would be useful. Mont, the owner was very attentive to any concerns. We had a small problem with the water after a power bump but it was resolved quickly with a phone call. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay at a higher end place in the Bridgewater area. Jim & Diane S.

“breathtaking views”

Breathtaking views • 5 of 5 • Submitted: Nov 10, 2013 • Stayed: May 2013 We went there as a family reunion with my father and mother in law. The view will drop your jaw the moment you walk in. great porch. Excellent well equipped kitchen. Each bedroom on the second floor has it's own flavor. The island itself is a photographers paradise. Great stay overall. The only thing we would have wished for is a barbecue. I think this property is perfect for a family reunion or a couple going for a romantic weekend hideaway. The photos on the website don't do the place justice. You are advised to have a car as the nearest cafe/restaurant is a good 10-15 min drive. which is a price you have to pay if you want the peaceful feeling you get when you come here. Besides the property is great for star gazing which you would lose if it was any closer to the village. The property was very clean and the owner very helpful in answering all the questions and the handouts left in the property were very helpful as well. Thank you very much for a great stay.
