Description

La Croix is a spacious newly renovated gite which provides modern facilities in a traditional tuffeau stone built house. It's three large bedrooms and extensive living area make it ideal for family holidays. It is also perfect for couples looking for a romantic retreat with its ground floor master bedroom and lounge with log burner. Situated in amongst rural farmland on the edge of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine National Park it is a perfect place to sit, relax and unwind whilst sampling a glass of wine from the many Loire Valley vineyards.

La Croix is located between the villages of Courleon and Gizeux and is only a 25 minute drive to Saumur, with it's impressive chateau and many restaurants, shops and bars. A short drive or cycle south of La Croix through forest and you will reach 'La Loire' river and the Bougueil vineyards, here there are lots of opportunities to taste the local wines and visit the many picturesque villages along the river. It's a great place to relax and picnic whilst enjoying the views.

The area surrounding La Croix has lots to offer. It is great for cyclists with empty roads and endless forest trails, canoes can be hired at various points on the Loire, there are lots of local walking trails, fishing on the local lakes, horse riding, as well as opportunites for swimming at many of the natural lakes. In addition, La Croix is perfectly situated for visiting the many Loire Valley chateaux as well as family orientated theme parks and zoos.

Getting around

It is a perfect area to cycle with many signed and well marked cycle routes. You do need a car as La Croix is located in a rural area which provides the peace and quiet for you to really relax.

Interaction with guest

Interaction with guests is generally via email, text or phone call. We are based in the UK and La Croix is managed for us by Angie & Darren who live locally. We deal with all guest queries or problems but can call on local help where it is needed. La Croix is operated on a flexible changeover basis so please contact us to discuss your requirements. Short breaks with a minimum stay of 3 nights can be arranged, please contact us to check availability and prices. We charge €15 per person up to a max of €70 for bed linen for stays of less than 7 nights. This must be left on the table on departure. Prices for 7+ nights include bed linen but we no longer supply towels.

If Louise (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
