“New Year treat”
We stayed here for New Year, and this cottage was perfect, it really was in the middle of nowhere, and we caught the northern lights. Its close enough to Reykjavik and the Golden Circle. The cottage was wonderful. It was so welcoming and warm, the water was safe to drink, the wifi was fast, and the hot tub was lovely (Although a pain to get started). It was a perfect base. One advantage is when the weather is clear you can see Reykjavik in the far distance, (At night) and on new year's eve you can see all the fireworks in the distance. It really was something special. I intend to comeback again
“A home away from home.”
We rented two of the cottages and stayed towards the end of February. The accommodation was very well equipped and we had some lovely family meals with the beautiful view of the fjord before us. We spent our days exploring, doing the usual trips like the Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik, the geysers and waterfalls, and when we returned each evening, the cottages were warm and inviting. As there was a fierce and bitter February wind, only my husband was brave, or mad, enough to try the hot tub, but we were all fortunate to see the Northern Lights faintly on our last evening. We found Iceland fascinating and would love to return to the cottages, but perhaps in summer :-) All in all, it was an incredible experience and the hospitality of our hosts and their friendly beagles made us feel very welcome.
“Sehr schönes Ferienhaus und tolle Lage”
sehr gute Gastgeber , wunderschöne Lage , bestens zum empfehlen
“Land of Fire, Ice and the cottage with three beagles.”
We were greeted by Brynja upon our arrival and immediately we knew we had made the right decision. Before setting off for Iceland we had planned our itinerary pretty meticulously but Brynja provided us with enough ideas for places to visit and things to do to keep us occupied for a month. The cottage itself was delightful: well appointed on the shores of an Icelandic Fjord and with views of some of some of the most breathtaking scenery. Inside the cottage was no less impressive; spotlessly clean and complete with more all the comforts of home. We had chosen the cottage because of its location - an hour from Reykjavik - and had made plans to get all our shopping from the city. There is, however, a small shop 5 minutes drive from the cottage. Our stay in Iceland was amazing thanks in no small part to having this incredible home away from home.
“A fantastic cottage in a truly beautiful, tranquil location”
An excellent cottage on the Whale Fjord. Overlooks ice capped mountains and the fjord. A great place to relax. You can easily spend a lazy days around the cottage, soaking up the view or get out and about. Around 15 mins from the akranes tunnel. All amenities to cook/ BBQ or great food at the Hotel Glymer (not cheap). A short drive away, over in Borganes, there is a great, new family run restaurant serving lovely, reasonably priced food. Lots of walking to be had along the beach. Watch out for eagles, seals and hundreds of birds. Short drive to the bottom of the trail to the Glymer Foss. Would definitely return, couldn't recommend it highly enough. Hot tub was great to spend an evening with a glass of wine. Made our trip to Iceland complete.
“Fantastic cottage, beautiful country”
Had an amazing stay in the cottage. Couldn't have asked for better accommodation. Friendly hosts, fantastic views and a great place to base yourself for a holiday. Thoroughly recommended.
“Wonderful, peaceful, stunning location.”
A great base to tour Iceland from with friendly, welcoming hosts.
“Wonderful iceland in Winter”
Brynja & Thorvaldur are so nice host knowing how to make you feel like home. The cottage offers enough space for couples or families and offers a breathtaking panorama on hvalfjordur. The hot pot was so relaxing for us three. Perfect place for trips to snaefellsness, golden circle and reykjavik. We´ll never forget these wonderful holidays. Thank you Brynja & Thorvaldur
“Iceland's best kept secret!!!”
Review: These beautifully decorated spotless cottages are nestled just down the hill from the highway and overlook the picturesque fjord. This idyllic setting comes complete with seals basking in the sun just down by the waters edge!! The owners Brynja and Thorvaldur make you feel so welcome and make sure your stay at their cottages is most enjoyable!! The cottages besides being spotless and very comfy, come complete with everything you will need for your stay except you food of course. Your home away from home!!! Another great feature of these cottage is their location. Centrally located, we used the cottages as our home base and took day trips to all the must sees in the area. We would leave after breakfast in the morning and arrive back in the evening and relax in the hut tub on our deck and enjoy the beautiful scenery!!! Our little piece of heaven!!!
