“Cliff House June 2021”

We enjoyed our stay, yes the accommodation is quite basic but had all we needed. Pool table was a great addition and was enjoyed by us all every evening. The house has excellent transport links with a selection of small supermarkets and takeaways or cafes within easy walking distance. We would certainly stay again and recommend to those that are looking for a back to basics break. Cliff House' host, Peter was both friendly and available to help if required, will definitely be staying again. Portland is a great place to visit and Cliff House a great place to stay.

“Filthy - DO NOT BOOK”

This property is absolutely filthy. There were toenails on the floor, hair in the oven, a filthy towel in the downstairs loo with an old soap stuck to the side of the tap, grime all around the taps, poo and hair in the toilet, hair in the bed and you could write your name in the dust. Food on the sides, sofas and dining chairs, floors haven’t seen a hoover or mop in god knows how long and the bedroom light gave me an electric shock. This property should NOT be let to anybody before it is fumigated! We arrived at 5pm on Monday and left at 8pm on Tuesday and we’re charged £332!! We were promised we would be refunded 3 days (we booked for 4) and once we had left the property the owner went back on his word and would only refund us 2 days. We only stayed on the Monday night as we had nowhere else to go. We spent our evening cleaning to try and make it habitable but no amount of shop bought products could get this place clean! Please please please do not waste your money and Tripadvisor, shame on you for not regularly vetting the properties you let. The least anybody should expect is a clean property, particularly during the current climate with Covid. I cannot believe this has been let out in this disgusting state! Unfortunately this website is also lacking and I’m unable to upload pictures but I have pictures of everything stated above and more!

“Pool table, back of the beach, next to a pub - what's not to love?”

Cliff House was a brilliant choice for our climbing trip. The house does seem a bit run down on first arrival but it's perfect for a big group and Pete is always really amenable and quick to solve any problems. Shower was great, beds were comfy, there's a pool table and the kitchen has all the things you could need (including a cafetière). The location of Cliff House is the real draw however. The house is less than 10 steps from Chesil Beach and no more than 20 from the best pub on the island, The Cove. Lidl is also 5 mins drive (30 mins walk) away so getting food in is easy! Can't wait to stay again next year!

“Basic”

We had a lovely weekend break, the heating was on and there was plenty of hot water and the beds were nice and fresh, but it was basic and needed a bit of t.l.c. Saying that it was the ideal spot for us and we would probably stay there again. I loved being so close to the sea . Thanks Peter

“Adequate Accomodation”

Our team used this house for a month. If you don’t mind the student accomodation feel in every way then this will do you just fine but do not expect to much. Basic and dated. Thanks for the support of the owner, it was appreciated.
