Description from owner

A charming and cosy three bedroom chalet nestling in the hollow of the hill, situated four miles from the pretty seaside village of Cushendun. The caves featured in "The Game of Thrones" is sited in the village. From inside and out, the cottage enjoys spectacular views of the Glendun valley. The perfect base for anyone who wants to be surrounded by an outstanding natural environment and yet within easy driving reach of N Ireland`s top attraction "The Giants Causeway".

The cottage is beside the recently opened “Ronan`s Way”. This is a series of designated walks through farmland stretching from 5.8 km to 1.5k. Some take you up the steep incline leading to the top of the valley, whilst others provide a leisurely stroll along the tumbling waters of the River Dun.. All around are superb views of the surrounding glen and on the top of the hill sight of The Mull of Kintyre, Rathlin Island and Sea of Moyle as well as the adjacent glens and valleys.can be enjoyed. Bring along your picnic and enjoy it at some of the sites provided, information on the history, flora and fauna of the farm is available on site.

On the lower tracks guests can enjoy a more leisurely amble taking in the sounds of a wonderful natural environment and listen to the babbling of the River Dun making its way down the valley. Walking foot wear and outdoor gear is advised especially for the high slopes as the open moorland can be very wet..

The secluded patio at the rear of the property is a trap for the afternoon sun and provides the ideal place to relax, have a quiet read or enjoy an evening barbeque. The cottage is the perfect base for visiting all the places of interest along the North Antrim Coast e.g. only a short drive from the Giants Causeway, Kenban , Ballintoy Rope Bridge, Bushmills Distillery as well as the many historical sites, beaches and villages in the area. Several scenes from the popular TV series "Game of Thrones" were filmed nearby you can easily visit the caves at Cushendun and The Dark Hedges at Armoy, enjoy the boat journey from Ballycastle to Rathlin Island, visit the bird sanctuary and learn all about the birds from the RSBP officer or just enjoy the challenge of walking around the island.

The Cottage is just a short drive from Ballycastle Golf course and Watertop Open Farm

“My dream of the Glens begins at Drumfaskey.”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2018

Of all the places that we called home while traveling in Northern Ireland, nowhere else has left an impression as deep as Drumfaskey. Even our photos look otherworldly and friends comment, “Was that place real?” Eileen, your amazing set up for Tea, (with all the home made delectable biscuits, cookies and pies) was the start of a wonderful stay. This also made a strong impression on my father!! The views and walks right outside our doors and windows were everything I wanted. The warm cozy fire and well set kitchen made everything comfortable as well for daily living. When ever I could pull my self away from the house, a quick wonderful drive in the area offered so many wonderful adventures and attractions. The Glenariff Falls, the wonderful seafood chowder in the village of Cushendun, session in Cushendall, and chats with the locals in the pubs keeps me smiling now. I would like to return again as soon as I can! Thank you for making our dreams of the Glens come true. Many blessings to you and the family for a very healthy and happy Autumn.

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to write a review which I much appreciate. Delighted you so enjoyed your stay in Glendun and had a fun time around the area. I look forward to seeing you soon again Kind Regards Eileen

“Perfect, restful, serene!”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2017

Where do we begin? We read the reviews online and decided Drumfaskey Cottage was the place for us to come on our family holiday with our 16 month old. We are SO glad we did! We have already booked for next summer. We were greeted by Eileen with some sweet treats and an apple pie. She even put the kettle on for us so we'd be able to enjoy a hot brew once we'd brought our bags in from the car. There is so much to see and do nearby, so Drumfaskey Cottage is the perfect base for exploring the gorgeous Antrim coastline and Glens. One particularly brilliant day we explored Glenariff Forest Park - magical! The main bedroom... the view is indescribable! On our final day I sat on the bed for 5 final minutes before we had to leave, just to drink in that breathtaking view down the valley. Wow! One look out of that window, and your troubles will drift away. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked, better than my own kitchen at home! The bedrooms are all cosy and clean. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire a couple of evenings when the weather was awful. If you want to stay somewhere with a warm and helpful host, great walks nearby and the space to breathe and find peace, Drumfaskey Cottage is it! We can't wait to return!

Response from the owner Thank you for your lovely comments. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay in the cottage and were able to explore our unique countryside. I look forward to welcoming you back again in 2018 Best wishes Eileen

“Wonderful holiday”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2017

It is the best holiday cottage that I have been so far. Very quiet yet not too far away from coastline or forest park. If you are a nature enthusiast, it is perfect for you. The host lady is so so nice. She went extra mile to make sure we feel it at home with apple pie, biscuit and scones, and home plant tomato. Oh don't be afraid of dogs. They are all friendly. Definitely recommend it:)

Response from the owner Thank you for your generous comments and so glad you enjoyed your stay at Drumfaskey I look forward to seeing you soon again
