“Relaxed and beautiful few days in the most gorgeous setting!”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2014

We enjoyed 3 nights at Baobab House and loved every minute! The house is beautifully decorated with lots of cosy places to relax and unwind on a quiet stretch of the beach. The house staff were welcoming and took good care of us. We enjoyed the most delicious meals cooked for us by Chef Riziki, and went for late afternoon swims in the sea! We hope to come back again!

“Ultimate beach relaxation!”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2013

Staff were welcoming and looked after us well. The house was very comfortable, especially the lounging mattresses on the veranda! Not too close to Diani but near enough to get supplies. A pool would make it perfect as we had to watch out for jelly fish (February). Liked the peace and quiet best.

“Splendid Holiday Getaway”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2013

My family and I spent a week at the cottage from 17th to 24th aug 2013 and had the time of our lives. Right from the time I started corresponding with Mark and asking all the preliminary questions everything went smoothly and seamlessly from start to finish. Upon arrival we were received very heartily by the team of staff comprising Riziki (chef), Samuel (housekeeper) and Masha (gardener) and from that point on it was smooth flowing. They totally spoilt and pampered us. The cottage is right on the sandy beaches of Tiwi and what better place to be if you have little kids, my sons were down on the beach most of the time and it was a task getting them to come up for meals. The house is well secured and the staff are extremely trustworthy, we left all our valuables strewn around the house from day one and never lost a thing. The beach is equally secure, as opposed to Diani further south or the North Coast Tiwi has much less human traffic on the beach so one is able to enjoy their time at the beach without being pestered by beach boys. Special mention must go to Riziki the chef, he is a true master. He prepared any/every meal we asked for to perfection! We had crab, prawns and red snapper all freshly fished from the sea the very day we ate them. He went the extra mile and negotiated good prices for us from the fishermen then proceeded to prepare them exquisitely, the results were evident when we returned and all had to contend with snug fitting clothes!! He also makes the most delicious Swahili dishes. To add to the convenience all supplies are readily available close by at the supermarkets in Diani, which gives one a welcome break from the beach and also a chance to grab an ice-cream. All in all an exceptional outing, at a fab little beach cottage; I doubt we'll ever stay at a hotel again after this...

“Fantastic home!”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2013

My family enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay at Tiwi Baobab House and wish it could have been longer. The staff is amazing and the food wonderful. Raziki makes the best seafood imaginable - octopus, prawns, calamari, crab - all to perfection. We look forward to another visit!

“Great Beach House Vacation”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

Tiwi Baobab House was a great place for our family vacation. It has a great view of the ocean and the staff was phenomenal. Riziki is an excellent cook and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I hope we can get the chance to stay again!

“Beautiful place in Tiwi beach”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2012

Tiwi Baobab beach house is a beautiful house with a garden opening on a paridisiac view of the Indian ocean. We spend 5 days in October and we had a fantastic time. The rooms are nice and spacious. The neighboourhood is safe. Simon, the house keeper and Riziki, the chef, were very nice and made sure we had a good time. Riziki cooking was amazing. And you can order fish and seafood directly from the fishermen at a great price.

“Private Paradise”

Reviewed 2 May 2012

Excellent location, with a private beach. Good staff with a Superb Chief that added a Swahili touch to the fresh fish and seafood we enjoyed every day. You buy it fresh every day from the local fishermen. The quality of the food is very high and the prices are very low (lobster, prawns, calamaris etc). Even though I had some expectations I was truly surprised by the skills of Ratziki (The Chief). Excellent location, very private, but close to activities nearby like Safaris etc. I can strongly recommend the Baobab House at Tiwi Beach for anyone, regardless if you travel with children or friends (we traveled with 3 kids). You will be very well taken care of in this Paradise they call Baobab House.

“Mombasa's best beach experience”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2012

My family of 3 and another couple stayed at this house for 3 nights. The location was not a long drive after the Likoni ferry and was secluded yet safe as close to the beach as you want to be. With 2 staff members doing all of the cooking and cleaning, all we had to do was wake up. The beach was so beautiful and the water so warm and clear, snorkeling right out in the tide pools in front of the house was fantastic. With a quick call to a local reliable taxi, we were able to see Mombasa sites as well as other beach areas and the marine park 1 hour to the south. With no other tourist around the house, it felt like a private beach. Fresh fish daily on the menu and creative meals were a delight. Anyone going to this house will not be disappointed if they want privacy and relaxation on a beautiful stretch of beach. Take your own snorkel gear or buy a $25 set from costco and leave for the next visitors. It is a small contribution to ensure a wonderful stay.

“The dream beach house...”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2012

My only apprehension about writing this review is that others will find this amazing house and it will be fully booked when we try to go back! We had a truely a fantastic stay Tiwi Baobab house. The house is quite simply stunning, set in a beautiful garden that rolls down to white sand beaches and blue sea. We could not have asked for more in terms if location, away from the hassle of Diani beach but close enough for the odd trip down the beach. With daily visits from local fisherman, great fresh vegetables available down the road and the fantastic cooking by Riziki, not to mention the great humour and company of the rest of the team, Simon, Samuel and Swaleh, we were extremely spoilt. If I could have chosen to design my perfect house in a perfect location, I could not have done better than Mark has done with this. We will - without question - be back.

“Escape to the Ocean”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2011

My family stayed at the Tiwi Beach home in Kenya and had an amazing time. The house is simple but beautiful. Smartly designed every house has a door opening onto the porch for a full view of the ocean. We had a wonderful cook that cooked us lovely meals allowing us to truly relax! Every day fresh fish was brought to the house and I even placed a special order for calamari...the cook cooked it all perfect. Being right on the beach we could go to the beach for an hour..come back to the house and then dash for a swim again. The beach is heaven with white sands and blue oceans. Unlike some of the neighboring beaches that are crazy busy, Tiwi beach was empty. We had a private beach all to our selves!
