“Hidden Country Gem”

Reviewed 5 May 2014

It was my first time staying in country Victoria and I will look no further in the future for other accomodation because 1860 was everything you could want and more! A cosy homely cabin in Beechworth is everything you could need when staying in the town. It was walking distance to the main street which was very convenient for getting around and seeing all the town had to offer. Even though it was so close to the main street it still felt secluded and quiet and a personal space for us to enjoy. The workmanship of the cabin itself was beautiful and it was a nice touch that there was a photo album showing all stages of the build. The service offered by Matt & Gina was fabulous as they supplied brochures and all the local information we might need for our stay and sightseeing. The small touches made the experience all the more special, from handwritten welcome notes, easy check in and check out to the breakfast hamper placed in the fridge for our convenience - It was everything that you would need for a weekend away without the hassle of having to organise it yourself. They were also very prompt to assist us when we were in need of anything. All in all it was a wonderful weekend away in Beechworth and alot of that was due to our great accomodation. I definately hope I get to return soon.

“Relax'n on an Island”

Its central but its tucked away. Free of white noise, overlooking a peaceful garden and creek the mind escapes the rat race and can just chill. Sitting on the verandah, dining in the garden lounging inside on the huge luxurious couch in front of the fire 1860 is fantastic. The rustic soul of another world but with modern amenities quite possibly the best place I have stayed at.

“1860 in autumn”

Reviewed 30 May 2013

My husband and I had the most delightful stay at 1860. It is such a pretty place, with beautiful autumn trees, is very cosy and quiet and with everything sensitively designed to blend into the environment. We loved all of the use of the recycled timbers and the history of the cottage coupled with all the luxuries and comforts of modern times. 1860 is a minutes walk from the Beechworth town centre and our lovely hosts, Gina and Matt, had great suggestions for eateries and activities. We walked up to Lake Kerferd which is a very picturesque lake and water supply to Beechworth and were fortunate enough to see koalas and wallabies in their natural environment - it was such a treat. Lake Sambell was also very pretty and great to walk around. We would highly recommend 1860 and as we were driving home, we were trying to work out when next we could come back and stay for few more days.

My husband and I planned a 1 night getaway for our 10 year wedding anniversary - our first night away since having children. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Matt and Gina have created a beautiful sanctuary with exceptional attention to detail (we even had to wonder if the waddling ducks followed by the possum dancing in the moonlight were staged because it was all too perfect!) We will be sure to go back to enjoy the peace and luxury at 1860!

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished it were many more. Beautiful setting with so many lovely details. It feels luxurious without feeling bland and lifeless like so many hotels do. Instead it was homely and perfect for a weekend away for 2. Location is great with a short walk to all the great places in Beechworth but from the verandah it feels like you could be all alone in the country. Would love to go back...

“A magnificent blend of new and old”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2012

A fabulous weekend getaway in this beautifully restored 1860's cottage. The attention to detail is quite magnificent. We arrived on Friday evening to a bottle of bubbly and a breakfast platter which filled us up on both mornings. Fresh bread and the paper delivered to our door on Saturday morning. Great kitchen, fantastic open fireplace, huge bath, and comfortable bed, and all beautifully done. We loved it! A short walk into town and all that Beechworth has to offer. We particularly enjoyed the degustation menu at The Provenance restaurant. Would highly recommend to all.

“A perfect getaway from it all with peaceful serenity and lots of”

Fantastic service with true country hospitality in a perfect location, away from it all. All the effort that's been put in to the place and the special extra touches made it even more appeciated. We will be back again for sure.

1860 Luxury accommodation was fantastic!!! I would definitely recommend to others and visit again! It is a beautiful home that the owners should be proud of, and the service we received was excellent!! We chose 1860 Luxury accommodation as a stop over to Melbourne, but Beechworth and 1860 Luxury accommodation are definitely worth a visit!

“Country Luxury”

Wonderful place for a romantic weekend away. Would highly recommend. Such an interesting place to stay with so much history. Luxurious and comfortable. Good location just out of the main part of town, easy walk to main street. Minutes from great restaurants and cafes. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend with a difference.

“Best place for couples in Beechworth!”

1860 was beautiful - secluded and romantic, rustic but will all the luxurious creature comforts. Highly recommended!
