“Absolute heaven!”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2014

My husband and I spent 5 days discovering the St Elizabeth area and believe that Great Bay is the very best place to be. Quiet, friendly fishing village that has beautiful beach and surf and little evidence of tourists. Our stay was too short and we definitely plan to return. The accommodations at Pelican Reach are clean and comfortable. Stop for groceries on the way from the airport and angie will cook for you. A very nice perk. She will also arrange transportation and tell you about the area. We felt very at home at Pelican Reach and are looking for dates when we can return. Thank you.

“Fantastic Spot!!”

This place is amazing, so remote and relaxed. Not a tourist in sight except for us. Angie (the cook/lady who does everything) and her family are really wonderful people, her cooking is delicious traditional Jamaican fare and so good. The water is warm and so close. I'll never forget falling asleep there to the sound of the sea.

“A true holiday”

The relaxation allowed at Pelican's Reach was beyond my greatest expectations. We all loved the authentic Jamaican food prepared by the experienced caretaker and the beachfront location was perfect! With every thing we needed at the beach house and surrounding village, we only took a few trips out! We will definitely be back!

“The real Jamaica!”

The perfect beach house! The location is so relaxing, the service and food is brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

“Charming beach house on peaceful Great Pedro Bay”

Reviewed 24 Nov 2011

Pelican's Reach is a pleasant home located right on the beach with views of picturesque fishing boats and stunning sunsets. During the day and evening, we enjoyed the fabulous screened porch overlooking Great Bay. At night, we could hear the waves from our bedroom. Most days we had the whole beach practically to ourselves. Some days we enjoyed watching the pelicans dive for fish. While we did enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area, we were also able to arrange excursions to local attractions such as Y.S. Falls and the town of Black River. We even ordered take-out from nearby Jack Sprat Cafe.

“Simple charm on the beach”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2011

We love Pelican's Reach, and the surrounding beautiful rural area. The tiny town is a fishing village with no tourist amenities, which we like. The town beach is on your doorstep and there are nearby country lanes for long walks. The housekeeper is a gem-- a superb cook and a welcoming presence. It's a perfect place for two couples or a small family; the third bedroom is fine for a teen or an au pair. There are fancier places in the area, but this one is the best value.

“Relaxed Jamaican hospitality”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2011

Angie our housekeeper went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay preparing authentic Jamaican food, our favourite breakfast being ackee & codfish with kalaloo sp?? The house has all the necessary amenities although some could do with updating, overall Pelicans Reach was good value. Being located in a rural area we found a car a necessity to get around sight seeing, although some of our best moments were spent sitting on the roof watching the pelicans diving, the fishermen from the nearby village going about their work and watching the fantastic sun sets each evening. Angie also arranged a boat to collect us from the beach and take us up Black River to see the crockodiles followed by a visit to the Pelicans Bar (a bar located out at sea), a great experience enjoyed by all 5 of us. Overall an ideal location for a laid back relaxing holiday.
