“Perfect Jamaican vacation for families who enjoy being in the heart of the city.”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2014

Our hosts, Nathan and Melissa were warm and friendly and very responsive to our many questions when preparing for our trip to Jamaica. They both visited with us during our trip and were available by phone to answer any questions or give recommendations. The villa was simple and perfect. There was always a cool breeze coming off the sea through the main entrance of the house and with the ceiling fans, there was no need for air conditioning. Both bedrooms had excellent air conditioning systems however, so we used those on just a few nights when the restaurant down the road had music playing - couldn't hear a thing with the windows closed. We felt very safe in the home and out and about in Ochi, which was an initial concern of ours. It was quickly dismissed after going out with Ms. Barbara around the town for a "tour". Milo (and Kirk - who was very nice), the night security gentleman was wonderful, had many interesting stories and was very generous, bringing us mangos and fresh ackee. Ms. Barbara, our chef, was simply the best. She cooked amazing fresh Jamaican food, oriented us to the town and stores, taught me how to make some dishes, and was knowledgeable about nutrition and health. She even made my "green juice" for me in the morning. She knew the island and was quite helpful about how to get around and acclimate to being in JA. The sea was perfect for scuba and looks just like the pictures posted - we spent time snorkeling, swimming, watching the world cup on the large screen TV, playing soccer on the beach, reading and just relaxing and rejuvenating in the sunshine. The Knutsford Express bus took us to Kingston and back - would highly recommend it for traveling distances - very clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful family vacation, my boys (11 & 16) loved it and felt it was way better than going to an all-inclusive resort - the food was CERTAINLY better! We hope to get back there soon - perhaps rent both Eden Sands and Neptune, the villa next door. Thank you to all those we met at Eden Sands Villa for a great Jamaica visit.

Response from the owner It was our pleasure to host your family at Eden Sands. We love when our families can cherish the memories created at Eden Sands and we hope to add to even more on your next visit to Jamaica. One Love

“You will not find a better place in Ochos Rio for the money”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2013

My wife and I recently went to Jamaica and stayed at Eden Sands Villa. We were amazed at how clean and accommodating the property was. It also came with our own cook Mrs.B who ended up giving us inside tips to what Jamaica really has to offer. So much of a more richful experience than your typical resort. It was comical that all the resort snorkle trips people pay to go on was only 20 meters straight out from our privtae beach. We literally could swim out and snorkle at our own leisure. Security was also provided, but wasn't really needed as we felt safe after the first night. Would highly recommend this villa to anyone traveling to Ochos Rio

Response from the owner Thank you Jay & Andrea, It was our pleasure to have provided you with Eden Sands hospitality!

“The best Ochi has to offer...”

Reviewed 28 Jan 2013

My wife and I travelled to Ocho Rios from Washington DC for a 10 day stay at Eden Sands. The Villa met and exceeded our expectations. From the delicious meals prepared by Barbara to the pristine beach right at your doorstep, if you want to stay as close to "the heart of Ochi" as you can while maintaining the comfort and relaxed atmosphere that any ideal Caribbean vacation requires this is the place for you! I highly doubt you'll ever find a need to leave the Villa (everything is provided for you) but if you should, dinning, nightlife, restaurants, and tourist attractions-including Dunn's River Falls and Mystic Mountain-are a short walk or taxi ride away. The Villa itself is perfect for a couples get away or a small nuclear family. My wife and I brought the in-laws, and they too enjoyed their stay immensely. In fact, other than his morning walk my father in-law did not leave the Villa once on our 10 day vacation. The food is also worth mentioning. As the spouse of a Jamaican national I'm no stranger to ackee and saltish, escovitch fish, curry goat, green banana, plantains, stew chicken, or the Jamaican treasure that is jerk pork. What you'll have at the Villa is as spectacular as you can get on the island, all that's required is a timely and polite request to your wonderful host Barbara and before long you and those that you choose to share this treasure of a rental property with will be dining on the scenic Caribbean sea. If you're looking for an authentic Caribbean getaway, this is the place for you!

Response from the owner Thank you for your review about your Eden Sands experience! We certainly look forward to your return! One Love.

“No More Crowded all-Inclusives for Us”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2012

Stayed at Eden Sands with our teen daughter and friends for two weeks--Amazing--so much nicer than the all-inclusives we usually vacation at. No need to fight for a lounge chair here as it has a private beach which was sooo great waking up to the waves hitting the beach. Our family occupied one bedroom and our friends stayed in the other and we each had our own bathroom. The villa was very clean, roomy and well equipped with coffee maker, toaster, washer/dryer, etc. and we really enjoyed using the outdoor grill and picnic table. Our daughter and friends loved the bean bag seating and flatscreen Tv--we spent most of our time on the deck equipped with a rattan table, four chairs and daybed or down at the beach with four chairs and four loungers. We felt very safe at the villa and loved its location just a short walk to the hustle and bustle of town with shopping and restaurants but enter the secured gate to the property and it's a whole different world-quiet, peaceful, relaxing. The short swim to the reef for snorkeling was a real unexpected plus. Minor inconveniences were the occasional wait for hot water to shower, missing plug for the kitchen sink and on one Friday night there was a party at a venue a few doors down--the music was quite loud until 3 a.m. but other than that our stay was close to perfect. Initially we were unsure about having a housekeeper come each day and considered arranging for every second day but wow Ms. Barbara is a wonderful cook and we ended up having her come everyday. She was kind enough to accompany us to town our first time so we could get familiar and taught us about the local produce and spices--just a really helpful, beautiful person. Her son Prince makes some awesome cocktails too. Nathan and Nicole were just excellent with all of our questions prior to booking and right through to our arrival and departure-absolutely no worries with booking this vacation spot. Hoping to return sometime soon-love it-miss it!

“Simply Lovely!!!”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2011

From the time I stepped through the door it felt like Eden Sands was the perfect home away from home. The decor was minimalist and almost hard to tell where indoors ended and outside began. The verandah opening right on to the beach was beautiful, relaxing and very scenic. The in-house staff were so friendly and efficient and made meals that I still dream about. It truly was the best of both worlds as we were just a minute or 2 by foot from downtown Ocho Rios. I never really wanted to leave the villa but when I did everything was right there. I felt like Eden Sands catered to my idea of the perfect vacation.

“The joy of relaxing”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2011

We spent five perfect days at the villa. We needed an quick escape & normally stay at rock house but we wanted to try something different. Friends recommended Eden sands. Exactly what we needed.  The property was beautiful. The villa has a beach chic vibe. The private beach was perfect.  I could tan  & return emails at the same time (love wireless Internet),all our meals were cooked by in-house staff and absolutely delicious! Amazing sunsets. My husband and I were really able to really just relax and didn't feel the need to leave villa for entire trip. We actually only left once to have scotchies which is a must have when in jamaica. I highly recommend Eden sands for couples & families with younger children that want a more personal private vacation experience without breaking the bank. You won't be disappointed you visited.

“A little piece of Eden.”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2011

I have to say Eden Sands is a little piece of Eden. The beach is so close to the house that you can practically put your foot in the water from the front veranda. I immediately felt the tension leave my body as I stepped in to this lovely little villa. I found the staff to be attentive but respectful of my privacy. The food was delicious and I liked that I could choose what I wanted to eat. Overall I had a very pleasant stay and I would definitely return to Eden Sands.

“Sanctuary”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2011

Peaceful, serene, private, pampered...just a few words to describe the little slice of paradise we found in Ocho Rios. Fresh ocean air, fresh food, immaculate facilities, and the sounds of waves, birds, crickets - how could we not leave there with renewed energy and peacefullness! It was a treat to be enclosed in our own little private paradise, and yet be able to walk down the street and be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle and excitement of downtown Ocho Rios and it's people, nightlife, shopping, restaurants. I would never stay in a big hotel when I have the choice to be at Eden Sands and feel like I'm right at home.

“Just what I needed”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2011

This rental had features that were better than a resort: private beach, personalized service from staff, quiet but still located in the heart of Ocho Rios within walking distance of everything. I appreciate the fact that the villa was not commercialized like a resort. It felt like being at home, but with much nicer, calmer surroundings. This was exactly what I was looking for, to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I definitely would love to come back. Barbara (housekeeper) was absolutely amazing! I wasnted to take her home with me! I've already referred a friend.

“Home away from Home”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2011

I am very particular about where I stay so I must admit that I was nervous staying here as pictures can be deceiving. This villa turned out to be more than I expected. The pictures are very accurate. The private beach is literally 20 steps away(if that). Barbara our housekeeper and cook was absolutely wonderful! We were there for 5 days and we didn't leave the house until Day 3. That's how comfortable it was! You go to sleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean and Ms. Barbara cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner for you! You have everything you need - hi speed internet, the beach, tv, and if you must leave, shopping is literally right around the corner. It was the best vacation I ever had. The cons? The mosquitoes are hungry! Make sure you close your room door and turn on the air during the day. Also, I never did figure out how to get a hot shower. There's some button you have to push but I never took the time to figure it out because after sitting in the sun all day a cold shower was welcome. I wish I could keep this place a secret as I plan to visit every year! So if you stay please make sure to take care of my new found 'home away from home'!
