“Lovely hosts, lovely villa, great location”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights. We were met at the Hvar port by Ela Marija's brother and driven to the apartment (and driven back at the end of our stay), which was very kind. They were welcoming and friendly, happy to help with our queries about Hvar, gave us lots of information, but also gave us our privacy too. The villa itself is in a great location and was very clean and tidy. Views are great and it was plenty of space for two people. Well equipped kitchen. We also got free wifi. 10/15min walk to Hvar centre, and minutes from the beach. Only issue (sometimes) was noise at night, but that is clearly not the fault of the hosts. We would absolutely go back.

“Genuine Croatian Hospitality”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2013

On arriving at Hvar, we were met on the Riva and driven up to our apartment by Teo, Marija's brother. Our apartment was spotlessly clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, large bedroom and bathroom, and double decks. A very warm welcome and some beautiful marmalade were waiting on the kitchen table. The apartment is situated within walking distance to the beautiful historic town of Hvar, where we enjoyed many hours of exploring, and eating in many of the local restaurants and cafes. The famous Hula Hula bar was just down the hill from our apartment, or for those who wished somewhere a little quieter; a short stroll along the promenade to the Falco Bar, where we watched the sun set... paradise. Marija, your marmalade was fabulous, and yes, we did think of you while eating it in Igrane. Teo, many thanks for driving us up to the fortress on that very hot day; it was a panoramic view not to be missed. We would highly recommend Ela Majija's apartments to any one traveling to Hvar.

“A great holiday apartment.”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2013

We stayed for 9 nights and had a wonderful holiday. The apartment was very clean and well presented with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views were amazing. Marija and Teo were very helpful and friendly hosts and offered information on were to visit and were to eat. Teo picked us up from the centre on arrival and took us back on our last day which was a great help with our luggage. Marija gave us a warm welcome and the homemade orange marmalade was delicious. Our tickets for the catamaran were sorted out for us so we didn't have to get up extra early and queue for them the day before departure. The apartment was in a good location being very close to the sea and we enjoyed the walk into the town along the coastal path. There was a small supermarket nearby which was handy but there was greater choice in the town along with market stalls selling fresh fruit and veg. We had a great holiday and enjoyed our stay at apartment Ela Marija and would be very happy to visit again.

“great apartment and a warm welcome”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2013

We stayed in Ela Marija's apartment in June this year and I can confidently recommend it without hesitation. The upstairs apartment with its sea views was comfortable, spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Ela Marija and her brother were thoughtful and helpful hosts advising on ferry times, picking us up when we arrived after a long day's travel and dropping us back at the harbour when we were leaving. The apartment was a 10 minute stroll down a short incline and along the waterfront to Hvar Town centre. Easy to reach but far enough away from the bustle of the town to get a good night's sleep. The apartment's two balconies were great for chilling out or dining in and there was an additional outside shared dining area overlooking the garden from a vine covered terrace. The kitchen was well equipped and included a much welcome dishwasher and coffee maker. Ela Marija had also thoughtfully provided us with a welcome pack that contained a jar of her delicious marmalade made from the orange tree in the garden. We really enjoyed our stay on Hvar. Hvar Town has some excellent eating places, some nice bars and the main square with its lively cafes is a great place to people watch. The Hula Hula Bar is a good place to chill out and watch the sun go down and only a five minute walk from the apartment. There is also a nearby supermarket for all your daily provisions. You can use the regular buses from behind the town square to take you to other picturesque harbour towns such as Jelsa and Starigrad and I'd also strongly recommend a trip to the mainland to spend some time in lively and atmospheric Split. Would I go back again? Absolutely! Thank you Ela Marija!

“Great place to visit”

This is a lovely apartment a short walk from the square. Very kind hosts who are there if you need anything too. Nice and peaceful here so you can get away from it all - enjoyed Falko's bar down on the beach as well as all of the restaurants on the main square and in the surrounding lanes. Recommended totally.

“A haven in paradise”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2013

From the moment we where picked up from our ferry by Maria's brother, followed by a warm welcome and lovely homemade marmalade from Maria as we arrived at the apartment, every moment of our stay in Ela Maja rooms was like living in paradise. The views over the ocean, the large bright comfortable rooms, kitchen with everything we needed to prepare food, and a short walk to a magnificent pebble beach were perfect ingredients for a peaceful island holiday.

“Comfortable accommodation with a very friendly owner”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2013

This is a very comfortable and well equipped appartment with lots of space. The owner is very friendly and helpful but not intrusive and leaves a lovely pot of homemade marmalade as a welcome gift. There is a parking space in front of the property which is a bit tricky to find by car, but the owners brother met us in Hvar Town to show us the way. There are a couple of small pebble beaches near the property where you can swim and it's a pleasant 15 minute walk into town along the sea front. You can hear some music from the Hula Hula club on the beach below the property but this is only in the evening and stops at 10:00PM and was not a problem. A small supermaket with very good bread is just round the corner. There is a larger supermarket in town but we never used it. We had the downstairs apartment which does not have a sea view but has a nice shady terrace and small garden which we prefered. Hvar town is beautiful but very busy in late June/early July. If you can do visit some of the other parts of the island which are a lot quieter. I can recommend Stari Grad and Jeselo. We will definitly stay again if we return to Hvar.

“I could live there”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

Where do I start.. Ela and her brother were amazing hosts. Picked us up and offered to drop us off. They even got our catamaran to tickets for us on departure. As there was no room available on our first night, Ela let us stay at her apartment then we moved upstairs the next afternoon.. 2 balconies and a shared Veranda (which we used to watch the sun set... Amazing) having only got back yesterday I, I have recommended this place to everyone I know. Percectly located. Beautiful views, wonderful people.. I am lost for words.. Planning next year already..

“A perfect stay”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

You can't go wrong staying in this apartment - fantastic value, perfect location, spotlessly clean, comfy bed, great view... I could go on. We stayed in the lower floor apartment for two nights and then moved one of the apartments on the 2nd floor for four nights. The 2nd apartment was brighter and had the views and a choice of two private balconies or a large shared terrace so book this if available but we loved the other apartment also. Ela and her brother could not have been more helpful. Everything is supplied in the apartment and everything is in perfect working condition. All cooking utensils a available to make proper meals if you are that way inclined. There is also a hair dryer... I would recommend anyone to stay here you would be doing very well if you found something better on Hvar island for this price!!

We enjoyed ten days in the larger of the two apartments in May/June 2013. The apartment was clean and spacious with two balconies and a shared terrace. There are great views from the main balcony to the nearby islands. The apartment had everything we required including wooden cot, fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher. We found the bath useful for bathing our toddler. The flat was safe for our 23 month old son who loved pointing out what he could see from the balconies. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who lives downstairs. We received lifts to and from the port as well as 'welcome' gifts such as delicious home-made orange marmalade. Such touches were appreciated. Thank you Ela Marija for your hospitality. The apartment is only a minute or two's walk from a couple of small local coves where we were able to swim. The Hula-Hula sunset bar is also 1-2 minute's walk away. We enjoyed going to this bar and although you could occasionally hear their music whilst on the balcony, it was neither loud nor annoying and always ended by 9pm. The apartment is an enjoyable 10-15 minutes walk into Hvar Town along a scenic coastal path passing bars, a hotel and a playground. It is worth noting that there are some steps leading to the apartment that may not be suitable for everybody. There is a supermarket just 50m away from the apartment which had everything we needed. All in all, this was the perfect apartment for a holiday in beautiful Hvar Town. Recommended!
