“Highly recommended - especially to those with small children”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Alla Piana, and wholeheartedly recommend it to others looking to stay in Bellagio. The owners Antonella and Pino were super-friendly and really could not do more to make you feel comfortable and at home in their apartment. The additional extras to accommodate a toddler were really welcome, this place is perfectly set-up if you have small children. Pino quickly put up a stairgate as soon as we arrived, and the highchair, travel cot and baby bath were nice touches too. Our 18 month old daughter also enjoyed playing in the garden. Other great benefits of Casa Alla Piana are the secure parking, quiet location and breathtaking views. But it's the owners that really set this place apart. We would highly recommend it, especially to those travelling with small children.
“Beautiful views from every window”
Very clean apartment with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It took a while to get our bearings in the area, but we loved it! Would have been nice if Wi-Fi was available.
“Extraordinary value for a truly memorable experience.”
Casa Alla Piana was outstanding. It is on the eastern edge of the small medieval village of Suria above Bellagio. It is on the middle and upper floor in the eastern end of a three story old stone building with high ceilings and vaulted bedrooms. Stained wood and centuries old natural stone abound. The donkey trails leading down from the village were a highlight for me. Window surrounds and the entrance balcony are single large solid slabs of crystalline stone - amazing. Inside is a surprise - the fit out is very modern with natural wood window frames and stairs - stained not painted. Coupled with the fabulous views, high ceilings and space this all adds up to a very ethereal experience. Best views are from the bedrooms (upstairs) which face north. The upstairs bathroom has a view to the east. Southerly views are from the upstairs landing and entrance door. The kitchen living room, the only room downstairs, has a door sized window looking across the neighbors garden to the north. Casa Alla Piana is well set up - everything worked well and we found all we needed in the apartment. There is no on-site WiFi at Casa Alla Piana but we were able to use a phone as a mobile WiFi hotspot. Across the lane way to the south is a private garden for exclusive use of guests at Casa Alla Piana. We stayed at the start of autumn. In the garden there were still sufficient vegetables (beans, zucchini, aubergine, tomato, broccoli) and herbs (parsley, sage, fennel) to go with our salmon, mussels, gorgonzola (one Euro per 100gm) or other treats. We shopped at the supermarket at the bottom of the nearest donkey trail. Note the opening hours on your first visit - we had 8:30am to 7:30pm, with afternoon siesta (12:30 to 15:30), Sunday afternoon and Monday closed. We did not meet Antonella or Pino but sister Lory and parents helped us settle in and showed us the start of the two main donkey trails leading down from hilltop Suria. The hidden garage is in a very modern, scrupulously clean complex, of ten or more garages ingeniously totally concealed under this ancient stone village. Once parked we didn’t use the car and walked or used the ferries. It is worth paying for a multi-day pass through the Metzi gardens as coupled with the middle donkey trail, it is not only a pleasant walk but probably the easiest way to get to and from central Bellagio. If you stay at Casa Alla Piana and plan to walk down the donkey trails you need a minimum level of fitness and map use. Casa Alla Piana was very quiet. There is a bit of an influx over the weekend period to gardens surrounding Casa Alla Piana (just like the garden attached to Casa Alla Piana) as they are used for large family meal gatherings – I guess by Milano apartment dwellers who seem to revel getting outdoors among the verdant greenery, clear blue sky and stone wall and lake backdrops. As best views are from the bedrooms upstairs (waist height windows), and not from the kitchen-dining-sitting room downstairs, you may want to construe a possie upstairs from what is available, for your reading, computing or idle hours whilst gazing at the view. Also upstairs gave a far superior phone reception for internet use. The best possible internet reception was to Blu-tak the phone (would not want it to slide off) onto the upstairs outside solid stone north facing window ledge which is slightly sloping. At the price paid, 250 Euro for four nights, including garage, Casa Alla Piana clearly deserves its five out of five rating. I am comfortable in going further to say that Casa Alla Piana ranks as luxury accommodation for the fit and map savvy guest who can connect their own internet. It is easy to write a lot about Casa Alla Piana – it was a wonderful experience.
“Best stay in Bellagio”
Thanks for Antonella and Pino! We did have a wonderful holiday stay in their property! They are very friendly and helpful. The amount of space and the beautiful view that you can't compare when you start in a hotel! The home is extremely clean and tidy with all the stuffs you need. If you have a car getting around is very easy! We will definitely plan to stay there again if we visit Lake Como again! Highly recommended!
“Superfriendly, very tidy, we love it !”
It´s in a little sideroad very quiet with a wonderfull view of the lake. You walk through a little yard to get into the lovely garden. To walk to the lake takes 20-30 min, to walk to the supermaket takes 10 min. The apartment is in a top condition, like brandnew and extremly tidy. Pino and Antonella are outstanding hosts, we felt like we were visiting some friends.:-) In the second floor there is one sleeping-room, the other sleeping-room is in the open hallway wich is very spacious. It´s an open area to the stairs but save for children. With the folding shutters you could darken the rooms perfektly. 100% Recomended by us. Thank you very much!
“Kind owners, perfect stay”
We were strongly delayed in arriving late in the evening, but the owners, Antonella and Pino were waiting for us patiently and helped us with heavy baggages. Welcome drinks were well prepared in the fridge. They also showed us the surroundings, walks and small markets on the map which did really help for the coming days. The maisonette-appartment is situated in a very tranquil place, it's very spacey, clean and well cared for. The view on the lake and mountains is stunning and there is a little private garden on the back. We passed very pleasant 5 days which was too short, we will definitively return. Thanks again, Antonella and Pino !
Response from the owner Hello, grazie mille for your beautifull review and your stay at casa alla piana. If you decide to return, we are very greatfully and we wait you with pleasure. Arrivederci, Antonella e Pino
“A lovely apartment in a great location.”
We had the most wonderful time at Casa alla Piana, which is in a lovely village just outside Bellagio. The hosts, Antonella and Pino, went out of their way to assist us and make us feel welcome. The apartment is very clean, spacious, and fully equipped, including a very comfortable bed. A market is a 5 minutes walk away. And the views from the apartment are fabulous! Although it rained, it didn't spoil a thing - a beautiful spot remains beautiful in any weather! A highlight for us was walking down the cobbled lanes through the villages into Bellagio. We hope to return to Casa alla Piana one day as it has been one of the highlights of our trip. (If you plan to stay here and won't have a car, pack your walking shoes and prepare yourself for the beautiful 25 minute walk into Bellagio!)
“The Perfect Getaway”
I was actually watching "Top Gears - The Perfect Road Trip" when one of the beautiful Italian lakes was displayed in full view and me and my partner in sync said "I want to go there!" - So, as you do, I googled "best italian lake" and low and behold, Lake Como came up trumps. I saw "Casa alla Piana" and the views of the mountains and lake drew me straight in, so I enquired. Antonella and Pino, I have to say, responded exceptionally quick, very helpful and this sealed the deal for me and I secured my dates in april (I have literally this second put my foot in the door, I am eager to tell the world about this beautiful holiday home). We were lucky enough to be greeted by Pino (a smiley, happy, very pleasant man) at the ferry quay in Bellagio and he drove us for a quick tour and showed us where the local market was... while communicating over SMS I had advised I had forgot to bring an adapter for our plugs... fear not, he had already gone out and bought one!! (So remember, when you stay in "Casa alla Piana" and use the travel plug... remember, that was me! The home is modern, warm and has some of the best views I have ever seen (see pics). A double main bedroom with 2 single beds at the top of the stairs, modern bathroom with shower and washing machine. Fitted kitchen with gas hobs but no oven. Microwave, sink etc. There is also a garden out the front with more wonderful views. I cannot speak highly enough of the home and the amazing people who own it. We booked early flights on the Monday and upon arriving it looked as though we would be scraping to get to the airport on time. Antonella and Pina offered to take us to Lecco train station just so we could make it in plenty of time for our flight - you cant ask for more than that! There are a lot of cobbled streets and the walk to and from the market / shop is a bit of a killer if you forget something and have to go back down and up a few times! Thanks to antonella and Pino again. We will be back in 2015!!
“A wonderful welcome to Bellagio”
We stayed as a family of four- 2 adults and 2 kids. The apartment was spotless and very well appointed. We were greeted very warmly by our hosts and shown where things were and how they work. The one minor drawback was that the parking garage was a 1 minute walk away, but a very nice garage and secure. The walk into Bellagio is scenic and pleasant- it takes about 15-20 minutes. It wouldn't be possible for people who cannot walk far and it is up hill on the way back- we enjoyed the exercise. We would definitely recommend Casa alla Piana.
“An amazing place”
We just arrived from casa alla piana after staying there for a week. The flat is very spacious, super clean with amazing views to the lake. The place is equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and the fact that there is a covered parking space for your car makes things even easier. The hosts (Antonella and Pino) are very kind and approachable people, ready to give you info in the area and help you on anything you need during your stay. If you are looking for a place to relax in Bellagio and at the same time out of the hustle and bustle of the touristic part of the town then this is a place to be. We definitely recommend this place and we will try to go back one day soon!
