“Home away from home -- the wine edition”

Reviewed 27 Dec 2013

It's impossible to talk about this rental without talking about the man who owns the house: Julio. He's wonderful! For English speakers, his English is excellent. But more importantly, he's warm, welcoming, helpful, and he loves Mendoza wines. We rented his house to start our South american wine vacation (we're also hitting Buenos aires and Santiago), and he figured out which wineries were open during Christmas week, he made all the necessary winery and restaurant reservations for us, he offered himself as our driver, and he offered his warm companionship throughout our winery tours (explaining and translating as we went). And then there's the house. It is beautiful! Perfect for us (a couple and a single person), it would also be perfect for two couples. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, the barbecue grill, the wi-fi (sadly, I had to work a bit while I was there), the kitchen (we did some cooking while there--do visit the Central Market!), and everything worked perfectly. One of my favorite little luxuries was the bath sheets! Too often, I find regular hotel towels too small, so I loved the huge bath sheets in our bathroom. The value can't be beat. We visited the Park Hyatt in Mendoza (they have a nice wine bar!) and while it is very nice, for what we paid to rent this house, we would have only gotten one hotel room at the Hyatt. If I could, I'd visit Julio and his lovely house every year. Heck, every month!

“An oasis of stylish calm in a busy (but lovely) city!”

Reviewed 17 Dec 2013

What a beautiful place Julio's house is - an oasis of architectural beauty and total calm behind an unassuming door on a busy street. Just 15 minutes enjoyable stroll into the centre of town, and convenient for other transport hubs (airport, bus station, etc). The home is beautiful - distinctive style, high ceilings, a small garden area, spotlessly clean and thoroughly inviting. Efficient wifi, comfy bed and well-equipped kitchen...perfect for the traveller to Mendoza. While there, don't miss out on a trip to Termas Cacheuta (about an hour away by local bus) - the best hot spring spa in argentina, possibly all of South america!

“Excelente”

Nada que decir, la casa tal cual como se ve en las fotos, en un bario tranquilo y la casa muy segura. Equipada con todo y más de lo necesario. Julio, el dueño, con una preocupación increíble, una excelente atención. En resumen: totalmente recomendable.

“On a scale of one to ten, both Julio and his home rate a 15!!!”

Reviewed 30 Nov 2013

Our stay in Mendoza at Julio's home was outstanding! On a scale of one to ten, Julio's place gets a fifteen! The pictures do not do his place justice. Yes, it is a two story living area that you see with live plants with a two story wall of windows overlooking the courtyard. The kitchen is open to the dining room and to a small patio which makes Julio's place look even larger. Upstairs there is a bedroom with an outside deck which was super cool. Downstairs, the master faces the courtyard which is very private with gorgeous deep pink flowers and green ivy. Julio has paid attention to detail with everything. I walked to the market store and the wine shop which were a couple of blocks away. Great restaurants were a five to ten minute drive from his home. One of the reasons we picked this home was the great reviews Julio received from other travelers. Well, Julio surpassed anything the reviewers said. My friend became ill so I called Julio to see where we could go to an emergency room. Julio said he would find a doctor, then met the doctor at his home so he could translate, then went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription the doctor prescribed. In addition, Julio took us to an incredible winery just outside of Mendoza where we shared a five course meal with wine pairings that was fantastic in a glass enclosed building facing the vineyard. Terrific five star experience!!!

“Look no further - Best Place to Stay in Mendoza”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2013

Visited for three days in august 2013 with my family. We stayed in some terrific places (including five star hotels), but without a doubt, this was the highlight of our trip lodgings. The home was amazingly well appointed; Julio has thought of every single detail (and then some more beyond that). Very comfortable, close to just about everything. Beautiful, safe and Julio is a terrific landlord. Reserve this house now; there is no better place to stay in Mendoza. A bargain at twice the price.

“Great House in Mendoza”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2013

My wife and I shared the accommodation with another couple. A good choice for us. Julio welcomed us on our arrival and ensured we had everything we required. The house was beautiful, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was a 20 minute walk from downtown in a good area. Mendoza is very clean and friendly. Wine country was great!!

“An excellent home away from home in a quiet street!!!”

Reviewed 23 Jan 2013

This home was very confortable with a very relaxing garden. My wife and I really enjoy our stay and hope to come back again and again. The owner Julio is very accommodating and treated us like family. The house is extremely clean throughout. The house is in a perfect location very close to business center. If you are looking for a perfect stay in Mendoza, this is the house to stay in.

“Spectacular Retreat with Charming Details!”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2013

My husband and I stayed in Julio's home for 3 nights / 4 days over December 2012. His home was a charming oasis with beautiful artwork and greenery inside and out. The location was convenient and safe to the city downtown center. After traveling for sometime we appreciated the conveniences like a laundry machine, well-stocked kitchen, and separate bathrooms! Our first full day in Mendoza, my husband and I (a young couple in their late 20's / early 30's) decided to be adventurous and ride bikes through wine country instead of signing up for a guided wine tour from Julio or other tour operators. We took the bus to Maipu (for 2.70 argentine Pesos each) and rented bikes (for 30 argentine Pesos each). While we were able to visit 3 wineries throughout the day on a dime, our bums were sore and the ride was not only dusty, sweaty, but a bit treacherous. After about 2 minutes of riding from the bike rental location, the bike path disappeared and we were left to ride on a busy "highway" with trucks buzzing past and occasionally on the bumpy gravel shoulder. At the last minute we contacted Julio, and he was able to schedule a spectacular day in Lujan de Cuyo to 3 wineries. What an amazing experience! We went to some of the most beautiful wineries I've ever seen with views of the road leading to Chile and enjoyed a delectable lunch and wine pairing at Ruca Malen. Julio even managed to squeeze in a visit for us to an olive oil vineyard at the end of the day. Julio dropped us off at the airport the next day. He was truly a warm and generous Mendoza host. Highly highly recommend! Definitely sign up for his tour. Wished we could have gone to Uco Valley. Next time! By far, this was the most relaxing stay we had in argentina, because Julio's home was relaxing, serene, and he had cable tv (we surprisingly caught our tv shows from home).

“Beautiful home and friendly owner”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2012

We booked this property on-line, based on description and pictures. Both were accurate. The property is a lovely and unique small home designed by an architect with input from Julio, the owner. It is beautifully conceived and rendered. The house is comfortable and the enclosed courtyard is like an extra room. We felt privileged to stay here. The location is convenient to center Mendoza, which was reached on foot or by inexpensive taxi. Julio is a great guy who wants to be sure you enjoy his place. We actually booked two days of winery tours with him, at better rates than we found otherwise. Having Julio as a traveling companion on the tours was fun and gave us a greater understanding of argentina. He was also accurate in his recommendations in Mendoza for shopping and restaurants.

Response from the owner Hi Gene, Sandy and Shea!!! thanks for your very kind publication!!! I also enjoy being with you during your stay at my place and visiting wineries!! Due your advice, I BOUGHT THE COW!!!! My living room looks now as a ranch... very nice!!! (I'll send you pictures!) Wish to see you soon back :-) at your place or mine. My best regards Julio

“Great service and very kind host!”

Service and communication were excellent and Julio such a kind person. Due to personal circumstances we were not able to make it to Mendoza unfortunately. Julio was full of understanding and responded more than helpful. We will absolutely visit Mendoza one day and stay at Julio's house.
