“most fabulous plase on earth!”
I don't know how to put into words the tranquility this place put back into my life. Not only is it one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, but the peace and serenity that dwells here... this is now going to be a yearly departure to feed my tired soul. We have already booked for next year. To the practicalities. It was just myself and my best friend of 30 years. We have been traveling buddies for many years. We were two gals needing a break from our very hectic lives. She lives in Washington, I live in Oregon. We have both traveled extensively. From the Seychelles to Tahiti. Extensively in the Caribbean. All over Europe. My friend was born and raised in Hawaii. Now we believe ourselves to be real beach connoisseurs. This beach was fabulous. While it didn't have the pink sands of Bermuda, the sand was soft, plentiful, and best of all, within steps from the house, I mean literally steps (maybe 5?) from the gate in the front lawn, you are there, with warm ocean water bubbling around your feet. In fact, it made us concerned what would happen in a big storm, would the house be washed away into the sea? Obviously that is not an issue as the house as stood firm for over 20 years, we were told because of the protective nature of the cove, but you are really right there! Oh, and the wonderful little cove. So private! We would usually have the entire beach to ourselves. No joke! Occasional we would see a family playing in the distance, or one or two people would stroll by, but it was rare. And the water! Pure as silk, perfect temperature to be refreshing, but not any cold shock when entering, and calm enough for swimming. My friend is a swimmer. Each morning she would go out into the calm sea and swim. Oh she loved it so, so, much. But the privacy, now to us, this was part of the beauty of the place. We loved the privacy and isolation. If you are in to partying, or having 50 million things to do in a big club like hotel, this is not for you. I did see that there were things to do in the small hotel strip the next bay over, but we didn't try it out, so can't comment. And there was a binder with places to go see, I can't comment on those either. Once we got here, we loved it so much, we couldn't tear ourselves away. It does take a bit to get here. For us, coming from the Northwest, long flights to even get to Montego Bay. And then a long and winding 2.5 hour drive over very bumpy roads, but very well worth it. We didn't try the local sights, we didn't want to leave Shakti home. We joked, (although it was completely true) that it was a swimsuit to nightgown existence. I didn't even put on shoes the first 5 days of our vacation. A true barefoot vacation! And why would we ever want to leave? Everything we wanted was here. Audrey, the cook, lived up to expectations. The lobster casserole that was waiting for us when we first arrived... I still have dreams of it. Each meal was so generous that there was leftovers to be enjoyed the next day for lunch. Then she would make breakfast each day. Whatever we wanted. I cannot express how gorgeous it is to sit eating delicious local fruit each morning on our lanai staring out at the endless beach and ocean,. So for food? It was right there in our beautiful home. We didn't need to leave. How better than that can it get? Then the house itself. So cleverly designed. Every vista opens onto sea views. And what seaviews! I mentioned the beach and cove before. The endless sea is so amazing. We were so impressed we had to look up on google map to even see where we were. (Excellent wifi in the home) We figured if you got on a boat and went straight out from our home, we would end up in Honduras. Nothing but open sea between here and there! Oh that reminds me, Callman (I can't remember his exact name) the gardner/handyman/all around man on the spot, would catch our fish out front in that same sea! Talk about fresh! Back to the house. The decorations were fresh, lovely, and spot on. Everything spotlessly clean. Beds uber comfortable. Bathrooms perfect. I couldn't have designed a place to my desires any better. And the small pool at front between the lanai and the sea. Perfect size! I had brought floaties from home, although they had nice pool lounges already there. We spend 80% of our time in that wonderful infinity pool, reading, napping, and talking. The weather perfect. Sunshine, floating clouds... truly nirvana. Oh, and we did avail ourselves of the massages. Two different times we had someone come to the house and these were fantastic. They were given in the little gazebo steps from the house next to the sea. Best place in the world for a massage! The ocean waves lapping in sound, the cool breeze blowing, the warm sun on our skin, and the massages..... perfect! The final delight of each day and I will end here. The sunsets. Each night so different, and gorgeous. Never seen such sunsets. And the cherry on top. Venus. Yes, we had Venus rising each early evening. We got so we watched for her each night. The stars the most bright and clear from any place I've been on earth. We vowed before we came back next year we were going to take an astronomy class so we could name all these bright stars. I did read someplace that Treasure Beach is one of the top star gazing places on the planet. I can verify that myself. I have been deep on safari in the Sinai desert and have never seen such stars as these. Unbelievable. Must be seen to be believed. Shakti Home the best. I could wax on forever. All I know is I will be back. Next year. And hopefully every year after.
Response from the owner Thank You so much for this heartfelt review of Shakti Home. I just makes our heart sing to hear from you and that you have enjoyed the love we have put into Shakti Home...this is exactly what we wanted our guests to experience....deep rest, relaxation and renewal from the crazy, stressful world we all live in, delicious, healthy home cooked meals and dreamy sleep, connection to nature and most of all, the feel the love of the amazing Treasure Beach Community and the vibe of our beautiful country Jamaica. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and we cant wait to have you back next year! Namaste! Sharon and Nikcy Feanny!
“A Special Place”
Our 3rd time at Shakti Home and it just keeps getting better. Lots of interesting upgrades since we were there last and the best parts the same, amazing home cooking by Audrey, and a view to die for with the peace and serenity we needed. You leave here a new person. McCarl, the caretaker at Shakti also helped to make sure any of our needs were met. Perfect place for doing nothing but relaxing!
Response from the owner We are so so thrilled you had another wonderful Shakti Home experience. We can't thank you enough for returning to Shakti Home for the third time...it is now officially your Home Away from Home! See you soon again! Much love from the Feanny Family!!
“The best the best the best”
We traveled with our 4 children and my mother in law to Treasure Beach for the week. It was absolutely Phenomenal. It is perfectly situated On the beach with two magnificent beach coves 20 steps from the door. Our kids were able to run in and out easily all day. Absolutely highlight however is audrey's fantastic cooking. We made a menu with her for the week and every night after a heavenly day at the beach we were greeted with a traditional, home cooked Jamaica Feast. Book early because this house books up far in advance.
This is a long overdue review. We had a fantastic time, wonderful food, wonderful folks to take are of Shakti home. We still talk about the truly relaxing vacation we took months later. The design of the home is really fantastic and we spend hours outside, sitting in different area. It was truly a quiet relaxing and unassuming location which is what we were looking for. Thank you!
Response from the owner Dear Jennifer: Thanks so so much for your wonderful review and we are so thrilled you loved Shakti HOme as much as we do. It is such and incredible space to get away from it all, yet still be pampered and so taken care of! Come back soon! Much Love, Sharon and Nicky Feanny
“The most relaxed I have ever felt in my life!! Not kidding!!”
First trip for my husband and I and did we ever choose the right place!! You instantly feel relaxed upon entering the home. The decorating is unique and fits the feel of the place. Location is great for walking to Jack Sprats for pizza and a beer(they deliver!!) We had a driver take us to appleton factory, YS falls and was awesome! Audrey is the best cook!!, every dish was delicious and flavorful. Best thing was how relaxed we felt and least thing I liked was having to leave. Hoping we can make it back to paradise!
What a wonderful place! The photos don't do it justice...we had a perfect week in this enchanted house. Thanks so much to the owners for sharing their lovely home.Every detail inside and out speaks of the tender loving care that went into this home and the grounds.Audrey prepared amazing Jamaican dinners for us - what a treat! Everything was delicious and it was a joy to sample new dishes we had never tasted before.Sheldon was always helpful and there for us and our many questions .It was a pleasure to meet them both.A big thank you to Treasure Tours .Rebecca and her Debbian went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and gave us excellent advice on just about everything, including arranging a guided safari up the Black River with Dennis abrahamson. We highly recommend both the tour and this knowledgable and experienced captain. Thanks to him and his colleague,we had another wonderful day! If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing setting with a view to die for,to meet lovely people and get a sense of Jamaica away from the touristy areas ,Shakti is the place to go!
“Shakti Home is the perfect place in which to relax in style and”
This was my fourth (!) stay at Shakti and, as always, it proved the perfect spot for an utterly relaxing vacation on Jamaica's beautiful, sunny South Coast. The house is just steps from the beach which means the sound of the ocean is your lullaby at night. I cannot say enough about audrey's cooking. She is clearly a gifted chef and every meal she prepares is five star delicious. I can't wait to go back!
“Serene and romantic. Stunning vistas and great breezes.”
Shakti Home is beautifully situated on the ocean with waves nearly touching the property. The villa is very open with tasteful appointments and fantastic energy. We enjoyed the use of the yoga deck overlooking the ocean. Sunsets were an event every evening followed by fabulous cuisine served up by our attentive staff. This was our second visit to Shakti and surely won't be our last. We love it!
“Treasured Moments on Jamaica's South Coast”
Are you looking for just a moment of peace in this wild, chaotic world? A place where there are no car alarms blaring, no reality television white noise, and no cell phones endlessly ringing? Then travel to Treasure Beach Jamaica and find escape at Shakti Home. There you can truly download from stress and breathe in fresh salt air, hear gently lapping waves on the shore, and an occasional seabird call. You can choose complete privacy or intermingle with colorful expats and natives in the village scene nearby. The locals have protected the South Coast of Jamaica from mass tourism, and life is easy here. Shakti Home cashes in on the surroundings with a lovely little beach where the occasional turtle will come to nest. The protected waters are safe for children to enjoy, and with the house located right on the beach, its easy to shower off and come out of the sun anytime of day. Arriving at Shakti Home with ocean breezes passing through the verandah to the house is as rewarding as the finale of a fantastic massage. Anytime of the year there are cooling breezes from the sea, making it wonderful for reading and sleeping. Delicious island food and fresh fish are available at your own table, or at small cafes nearby. The house will be stocked to your wishes, and a kind staff do their best to cater to your needs. I cannot imagine how self-indulgence could be finer! I've been to the house twice as it has evolved and I look forward to returning soon. I have also traveled to the area many times in the last 15 years. For attention to detail, Shakti Home only gets better with each visit. If you are seeking a romantic stay, a family outing, or a solitary rejuvenation of spirit and creativity, this hideaway should be on your travel wish list. The word "Shakti” is the Hindu concept of divine feminine creative power. Go be nurtured and pampered at Shakti Home, and return to your world renewed. I hope to follow you again soon!
"The minute you arrive at Shakti Home, you let go” is what the Shakti Home website says. What else is their website going to say? Right? Having not been on holiday for quite some time, it did sound to be the perfect place for me to unwind and relax. I needed to "let go" and I can tell you...I wasn't disappointed. While this wasn't my first trip to Jamaica, it was my first trip to the South Coast. Driving down out of the mountains getting your first glimpse of the coastline and sea is breathtaking. Arriving at Shakti Home, I was greeted by the wonderful audrey and Sheldon. They are warm, gracious, and endearing. The house is beautifully decorated and beyond comfortable. It is filled with lots of love and audrey and Sheldon are available for recommendations and advice on local attractions as well as generally helping in any and every way possible. As a vegetarian, I was a bit concerned about what my meals might be like. I can honestly say that I was blown away by audrey's ability to create amazing fresh and flavorful dishes every night. Mornings always included a freshly created juices or smoothies from the local seasonal fruits. Awesome! She is an incredible chef! I wanted to take her home! I was lulled to sleep by the sounds of the surf at night and woke in the morning to take long walks on the deserted beach. Two coves provide easy swimming and the surrounding reefs provide remarkable snorkeling. Should you choose to leave Shakti Home, Jake's is a short walk away as are some local artist galleries and gift shops. Shakti Home has a wooden deck that can be used as a little shade from the midday sun...or as a marvelous yoga studio (its intended purpose.) Each morning it provided space for my yoga practice and the launching point for the day. Heaven! Shakti Home definitely allows you to let go, but you won't want to let go of Shakti Home! I can't wait to return!
