Description
Early 19th century olive mill fully reconverted into a 55 sq.m. self-catered stone-built cottage, set in a tranquil and secluded 500-year old olive grove in the island of Paxos (Ionian Sea-Greece). Facilities include: one double bedroom, 2 built sofa beds in sitting area, spacious bathroom, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, open air cook oven & BBQ, 2 courtyards as well as ample space in the surrounding property, rain water from refurbished traditional cistern, and maid service 3 times a week. The thick stone walls and the ceiling fans ensure a comfortable temperature in hot days. However, as some days (and nights) are too hot to bear without air-conditioning,two discreet but very efficient A/C units have been recently added to make your stay more comfortable.The house is situated near the village of Fontana or Platanos, 3.5 km. from the main port of Gaios, and 3 km. from Loggos. There are two tavernas, one bakery and a mini market in the village near-by (Fontana). The closest beaches are 700 m. and 1 km. from the house. Plenty of hiking trails nearby and all over the island.The island of Paxos boasts great beaches and a clear sea surrounded by a deep green landscape and several picturesque villages. It balances perfectly a cosmopolitan side during high season while a tranquil refuge during the rest of the year.Renting this house will offer you a great opportunity for relaxing and secluded vacations in one of the most idyllic islands in the world.[National Tourism Organisation Registration number (MHTE):0829K9100O405201

“Peaceful Idyll”
We were very happy staying in this carefully restored and characterful house. It is spacious and very well equipped, with a lovely mixture of stylish but simple furnishing. The outside area is very nice to spend time in, partly shady during the day, with a hammock, and well lit in the evening with candles and lanterns.There is also an outside pizza oven. The surroundings are beautiful, and the location is very peaceful, at the end of a track amongst the olives. It is possible to walk to the nearest beach down quite a steep track, where were enjoyed a morning swim. You can also walk down a small path to kipiadi beach. However, the villa is centrally positioned on the island, making it possible to explore everywhere very easily. We had a car, but also crossed the island on foot, and walked to Loggos. The small village of Fontana is a five minute walk by foot, with a bakery, small but well-stocked shop, and a couple of tavernas. We spent a fortnight here and were very happy, I would certainly recommend this house.
