“Stunning house with lovely view in a area surrounded with love”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2014

It was a great stay at Villa Patria. Even the first contact with the owner was filled with love, fulfilling all our wishes. The stay there was absolutely fabulous, 5 star meals, wonderful infinity pool with a stunning view. we felt home and every wish was fulfilled. The garden is beautiful, wonderful trees and flowers, we felt safe as well. The house is very nice furnitured, the rain shower with the feeling having a shower outside in nature is very nice and special. all in all: very special and absolutely wonderful.

“Heaven on the Hill”

Reviewed 28 Nov 2013

I'd heard so much about Bali and Villa Patria before my trip but didn't know what to expect. The experience was beyond what I could have imagined. Bali is such an incredible place with the nicest people and most beautiful landscapes. Pictures do not do Villa Patria justice. The view over the garden and out to sea is inspiring and every corner of the property is aesthetically pleasing and meticulously groomed. An Indonesian timeline of art and artifacts grace every wall and garden. There are so many different comfortable nooks to lounge in and numerous spots to meditate and focus. The location of the Villa is exceptional--close to town, but away from the hubbub. The huge menu of gourmet food served is delicious and the staff is completely accomodating and friendly. One of my favorite aspects of the Villa was the element of water; the perfectly designed infinity pool has a great sunning ledge to enjoy drinks on or read a book. When it comes time to rinse off, you can do so under the stars in the guesthouse with the gorgeous indoor/outdoor shower room. John was an amazing host and brought so much insight about every aspect of the island and its people. We were fortunate enough to spend about three weeks at the Villa and enjoyed many trips all over the island by car and by motorcycle with the help of our wonderful drivers. We couldn't find a better, more pleasant place to stay or spend time on the entire island. I cannot thank everyone at the Villa enough for the unforgettable time that we had in Bali. Many mahalos to John, Dika, Ketut, Putu and Sana for their time and help! Suksma!

“Solitude in Paradise”

Reviewed 1 Feb 2013

A friend and i just spent two weeks at Villa Patria. Like everyone else who has written reviews, we could not speak more highly of our experience. In our case we were looking for a place to do some writing and research. John and his staff were exceptionally friendly and discrete as we spent hours writing on the beautiful verandah overlooking the valley to the sea and took numerous plunges in the infinity pool each day. The weather in the hills is far more mild than the heat down by the beach. Agus, the driver, took us down to Lovina when we craved a change of pace and a restaurant meal, although the meals provided at the villa were great and varied; even catering for my vegan tastes. John suggested a wonderful snorkelling excursion. I stayed in the smaller bedroom in a separate wooden building which is reached by ladder. The main house is superb and tastefully decorated. This is an ideal place to get away from it all and be looked after graciously and attentively. I want to go back!

“Honeymoon paradise”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2012

We stayed here at the end of October for four nights on our honeymoon. From the moment I started liaising with John regarding our booking, I knew that this was going to be a very special part of our trip. John was so helpful and friendly, even coming with the villa driver (Agus) to collect us from amed! The location of the villa is breathtaking, at the top of a hill with the most phenomenal views! The staff were friendly and discreet, and the food at the villa was delicious. John was able to help us with going on a few local excursions - to the hot springs, swimming with dolphins and the highlight of the trip - a four hour trek through rice paddies and to some amazing waterfalls. I would definitely recommend this villa! Thank you so much John, Ketut, Putu, Agus & Co... we had a great time :)

“Truly a Paradise!!”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2012

I have been there many times and each stay has always been like a new experience. An awesome paradise! , a romantic place to be with such great staffs. I will recommend John's villa to friends for sure and looking forward to being there again.

“Experience of a Lifetime...”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2012

To say we had an incredible experience that we will never forget at Villa Patria is an understatement. The care and beauty that we were surrounded with at Villa Patria has been unequaled on any of our travels. We chose Villa Patria to host a celebration event for 50 of our friends and family and then stayed there as well for a week. The furnishings and decorations are exquisite and the staff could not have been more attentive. The views are spectacular and you really feel like you can get away from it all and submerge yourself in Balinese culture while keeping a high level of amenities. However, at the same time, the Villa has enough resources to host a sizable event and really do it right down to every detail. I would highly recommend this establishment without hesitation and confidently say that you will be in the best hands you could hope for.

“Absolutely Stunning!”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2012

We stayed for one night at Villa Patria in the beginning of august and what a beautiful place! We arrived in the evening to a romantic dinner for two on our own private terrace. The staff is lovely, very discreet and the food was very nice. The villa itself is mostly open air to some stunning tropical gardens, furnished with Balinese antiques and complete with the sounds of water all around. Breakfast was delicious and served right on time. We had no complaints and would return anytime!

“Amazing heavenly villa”

Reviewed 18 Dec 2011

I honestly thought I had arrived in heaven - we loved every minute of our stay at Villa Patria - with the best food in Bali prepared each evening by the staff. We will definitely be returning!

“Beautiful experience in an amazing location”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2011

Villa Patria is the most amazing place we have stayed at in Bali. The gardens are beautifully designed and maintained by John and his staff, the enormous infinity pool overlooks the mountains as well as the distant views of the ocean, and the villa itself has been thoughtfully decorated using Balinese artwork and textiles. The villa has internet access, a clean, open air bathroom, satellite t.v., cooking facilities, books and magazines and food available to order. Sitting in the open air verandah watching the rain and reading books from the Villa's 'library' was a relaxing way to spend a few days, leaving occasionally to eat at the beautiful 'Damai' restaurant or watch the sunset from a beachside restaurant in Lovina. The villa is about 10 minutes drive from the town of Lovina, but there is a friendly driver to take you wherever you need to go. The only less than positive thing we could say is that the roosters ensure you're awake to enjoy the villa very, very early! I would recommend the Villa Patria to my closest friends.

“Paradise...didnt want to leave!”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2011

We stayed for 3 nights at Villa Patria, as part of a 3 week trip around Bali and Borneo. There were 4 of us (2 couples)aged 27-31yrs. On first entering the grounds of Villa Patria we were all amazed by how beautiful it truly is...I don't think photos can do it justice. The tiered gardens are perfectly manicured and beautiful. The views from the infinity pool out over the forest and towards the Java Sea are incredible. Watching the sunset on the first evening whilst having drinks in the pool was a highlight for us all. As the villa is set high up in the mountains and in its own secluded grounds it is very peaceful and the only noises come from the wildlife in the forest and the roosters in the mornings! The villa itself is designed and maintained to a very high standard. There is one large bedroom with a beautiful ensuite outdoor bathroom with hot water shower. To the rear of the villa there is a Lumbung which has been converted into a bedroom and has its own separate outdoor bathroom. The staff at Villa Patria really enhance the experience of staying there. They are friendly and attentive but also discrete-it often feels as if there is noone else there except you. Breakfast was cooked by Putu every morning and we also had 2 evening meals at the villa. Each meal was cooked to a very high standard and great value for money. During our time at Villa Patria we spent time with Gede, our driver. He provided lots of information about the local area and much entertainment to us during our trips out, during which he schooled us in Balinese providing much amusement when we relayed it back to him and the locals. Villa Patria was definitely a highlight of our 3 weeks travelling Bali and Borneo. We were all reluctant to leave and are hoping to visit again soon. We would definitely recommend Villa Patria to anyone looking for a little piece of paradise in Bali. Many thanks to John and all the staff at Villa Patria, From Laura, Mark, Rhiannon and Paul
