“What a Place!”
It was our 25th wedding anniversary so we brought our 4 kids 19-23 years of age with us to Bali to celebrate. The villa is right on the ocean with a huge balcony off the master where you watch the fishing boats go by in the morning sunrise. The other bedrooms are on the main level and overlook the infinity pool and then on to the ocean. We had two boats pick us up right on the beach in front for dolphin watching and then later in the week for snorkelling (each was only about 9 dollars Canadian per person too). We also had a driver that took us to some great and nearby waterfalls and temples. We went into town a couple of times for dinner in Lovina which is very close with tons of options but mostly we had Made and Komang prepare meals and shop for us as they were fantastic cooks and also wonderful people. The highlight, which the entire staff group, Made, Komang, Putu, Anik and the owners Nigel and Valerie helped me keep a secret until everything was ready was our Bali vow renewal. Everyone did so much to make the experience so wonderful. Anik did all the arranging for me via email from the other side of the world and did not disappoint - even preparing all the flowers and even leis for the children to wear! If I ever get a chance to return to Bali, I would definitely stay here again.
Response from the owner It was our pleasure to host your family for your Silver Anniversary - we look forward to seeing you again before your Pearl Anniversary, too!
“A week in Paradise”
Puri Segara Villa (not to be confused with Puri Sagara Village) is a magnificent private house built on the beach at Tangguwisia on the northern coast of Bali. As you approach the villa through the rice paddies and vineyards you leave the pressures of real live behind. On arrival we were greeted by our two lovely housekeepers, Komang and Made. They opened the double front doors to reveal a view of the Bali Sea beautifully framed by the house. Most of our travel and exploration plans began to evaporate at this point. Instead we decided that we had probably found the most beautiful spot on the island and decided to stay put. One of the very few excursions we did make was a dolphin watching trip. The boat arrived at six o’clock at the bottom of the garden. We climbed aboard and saw the sunrise and a huge number of dolphins playing in the surf. At sea the spectacular volcanic scenery of the island is even more stunning. The house sits in a beautiful garden expertly maintained by Putu, the full-time gardener. It has a wonderful infinity pool and is set right on the beach. Our kids loved the new routine of a swim before breakfast and playing on the beach all day. Komang and Made looked after our every need shopping for us and producing wonderful Balinese meals three times a day and spoiling the kids. It was a horrible wrench to leave but we all decided that we would return.
Response from the owner Thanks for the review, Phill. Great photos, too. We look forward to seeing your family again soon!
“Perfect holiday: relaxing, beautiful, interesting,...”
This is a very nice villa, with thoughtful and artistic design, beautiful sea views, comfortable and relaxing architecture, and a pleasant staff. We could not have been more satisfied with our holiday. The north of Bali is a serene haven compared to the relative chaos of the south, and the local culture and sights are colorful, accessible, and interesting. The large infinity pool and the cozy outside furnishings make it impossible not to relax and enjoy. The household staff were helpful and accommodating, interesting, and sweet, and provided fine meals and service. It is nice that the friendly and unobtrusive owners, Nigel and Valerie, live next door, since this facilitates smooth operations. We began our mornings with coffee in the gazebo beside the sea, watching local fishermen casting nets. We arranged a trek to beautiful waterfalls in the jungle, with great swimming and sweeping vistas of rice fields. We visited a nearby Buddhist temple and many Hindu temples, learned scuba diving in the pool, and did two dives on coral reefs at Menjangan island. Excellent beach restaurants with live music are a mere 15 minutes away in Lovina, and the nearby market in Seririt offers a colorful swath of genuine local culture. Reliable wifi internet access was excellent and fast: the owners avoid cut-rate suppliers used by some other villas. (We later rented another villa in Ubud with the opposite circumstance, so we appreciate this feature.) Top this off with a calm swimmable sea just outside the door, vistas of volcanoes in the distance, and colorful garden surroundings... Highly recommended...
“relaxing vacation with new horizon”
Villa is really spectacular and service is excellent. You can relaxe or to be busy all the time as there is still something to do arround. Our family went scuba diving, snorkeling, waterfall sliding, hiking, hot springs and temple visiting, enjoyed family bedminton competition, boat fishing, scooter riding to Seririt and Lovina to get the taste of local life. We also enjoyed masage right in the villa. We have been talking to local people on the beach, swam a lot in the sea. 2 days out of 10 was a little bit windy so there was some local waste in the sea, but it was only temporary. Otherwise the sea is calm , you simply cross the garden and with sun rise you can swim in nice water or do jogging around while watching fishermen leaving in their boats. Me and my husband stayed in open air bedroom with moskyto bed net which was the best in our opinion. You do not need air condition also you get an excellent view . Staff in the villa wears smile on their faces all the time, doesnt matter what you are asking for. Coman is an excelent cook , thus we could enjoy local cuisine.
“Bali beachfront style in the peaceful North”
The beautiful design, spaciousness, ocean-view and high-peaked rooftops of Villa Puri Segara set the tone for a wonderful setting that we thoroughly enjoyed. The natural stone, infinity swimming pool was great for a morning swim and the large bale (pergola) alongside was fantastic for relaxation and socialising. We also enjoyed the smaller beachfront bale where we could watch the fishermen pass by and marvel at the spectacular sunsets. The Bali statues that are placed throughout the property add to the appeal and ambience of this luxury accommodation. Much thought has gone into the interior design of Villa Puri Segara and we particularly liked the semi-outdoor bathrooms and showers with their inlaid rock design and prctical approach. Being just 5 minutes from the tourist cenre of Lovina, we took the opportunity, several times, to visit restaurants and bars there, but the meals provided at Villa Puri Segara were great on their own and there were times when we decided just to stay in the Villa and enjoy the atmosphere. We would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Puri Segara to anyone who wants a luxury getaway holiday with all the bells and whistles laid on.
We stayed 4 nights in Puri Sebatu, together with our parents, parents-in-law and our 9-year-old boy. It was a real escape. By the time we entered into the villa, our breath was taken by this beautiful house with a stunning view over the sea, and most important, there is a huge pool where we can really swim with our son! The staff are very friendly and do what they can to ensure you a relaxing holiday. We didn't go out for dinner, just enjoyed the delicious balinese cooking at the villa. Valery and Nigel are nice hosts. They have prepared a useful manual with all pratical information that we need, including things to do, emergency numbers and good addresses. We even found home made icecream that can be delivered in this manual! My father was sick during the stay, Nigel drove him to the hospital and provided lots of help. Thank you again, Valery and Nigel, we will definately recommend your little paradise to all friends.
“Puri Segara villa experience was wonderful.”
It is a spacious house, airy & light with beautiful lush grounds, large infinity pool and calming views over the sea. The people who work there made our holiday week so enjoyable & relaxing. Komang & Iluh provided 3 delicious meals each day & saw to all our domestic needs; Putu & Nuymon took care of the grounds & security. All are delightful people & talking to them taught us about Bali life in the area. I can recommend this villa and the services it offers.
“A truly relaxing vacation in Paradise.”
My family (2 adults and 1 nine year old daughter) shared Nigel's villa with another family (2 adults and two girls 10 + 14). The photographs, although accurate, can never give you the true feeling of the beauty of this property. But what made it special was the fine service provided by the staff which made for a tryly relaxing vacation. Komang and Iluh fed us royaly with delicious Balinese cooking. Iluh also offered massages and mani/pedis which most of us took advantage of. They also drove us the market and money exchange as needed - allowing us not to have to rent a motor bike or car. Putu tended to the garden and pool keeping all pristine. And Nyoman made us all feel secure each night as he patroled the property. All of Nigel's recommendations of sights, drivers, vendors, etc. were excellent. A notebook of villa procedures and locales was very helpful. They had a dvd collection and books to read. We scuba dived, snorkled, hiked to splendid water falls, played tennis off site. Our driver took us to various locations we wished to see. The villa is well appointed, beautifully designed with high ceilings, open floor plan, large infinity pool and two bale benongs the families loved to lounge in - especially the one by the sea with a view of the coastline and volcanic formation further north with exceptional breezes as you watch the fishermen. The yard offers room for badmington and enjoying the large variety of flora. I can not find fault with anything in this villa. I highly recommend staying at Nigel's and would not hesitate retuning.
This place was pure heaven to stay at! I booked my family reunion here and it was perfect! The cook and house manager were so warm and welcoming, as were the owners. They were all very helpful in making our stay as enjoyable as possible. Stay here, you won't regret it!
“Seaside, poolside paradise and a cracking good time!”
What a time we had! The dry season had yet to find Bali until we arrived to the deep blue skies of Lovina at Puri Segara. Nigel and Valerie are wonderful hosts and made the rental process painless. Valerie is quite the tropical gardener, at at her direction, the grounds were planted and are even lovelier than the photos. There are a few other villas tucked away along that stretch of beach, but I can assure you that you will be the only two bale family in the area. One giant bale at the pool is perfect for a mid day break from the sun, the other, at the beach, provides all day breezes and unparalleled sunset views. The staff are endearing in every way. The main housekeeper and cook, Koman, is ever cheerful and makes everything from scratch. You will be hard pressaed to find the same quality in the local restaurants, which are still decent, but just don't measure up to food made with a smile, care and love. I think we were all misty eyed when saying good bye to Koman and her helper Iluh. What lovely ladies. Nyoman, the security guard, makes it his business to know who you are and for how long, once convinced, he is a most pleasant chap and will greet each you evening with a dazzling smile. The driver, Bambang, works for a chauffeur service, not for the villa, but he knows his way around not just Lovina et environs, but the whole of Bali. Traffic jam in Kuta? No problem, we'll just take the back way! Truly an amazing chap, and a delight to get to know. Putu, the pool man and gardener keeps the grounds and pool in impeccable shape. He is up at first light making sure everything is clean and ready for your day in the sun. Thank you Nigel and Valerie for such a memorable and carefree stay, wee look forward to our next visit.
