This self catering holiday accommodation is based in the unique and beautiful Splash Cottage by the waters edge where the Belfast Lough meets the Irish Sea, views from the rear of the property are magnificent and the cottage is also privileged to have wonderful Guillemots nesting right outside the property.
The well appointed and recently renovated holiday rental property has three bedrooms sleeping up to a maximum of six people. There is convenient car parking outside the property and we are within walking distance of Bangor Town Centre, Bangor Marina and Ballyholme Yacht Club.

The home is beautiful- well furnished and beautifully appointed. There is ample space for six to spread out-- enjoy group time and private time. The views are magnificent. Excellent restaurants in walking distance.

The only problem with giving an honest, unexaggerated review of High Tide Cottage is that everyone else will want to go and stay and we may never get to stay there again! A truly wonderful place for a holiday whether you are visiting family nearby or are looking for a coastal retreat with plenty of amenities a stone's throw away. There was something for everyone: tasteful, seaside décor, well-furnished comfortable rooms that instantly made you feel at home (even the garden was well furnished with a table and chairs and lovely soft furnishings for the stone alcoves cut into the garden wall) magnificent sea views and an AGA to provide constant hot water and somewhere to warm your toes for those who feel the chill like me! The children spent many happy hours catching crabs on the rocks while the more senior members of the party enjoyed walks or runs along the coast. The owner Paul was extremely welcoming and helpful. This was a trip to Bangor that will be the stuff of memories for a long time to come and much of that was due to High Tide Cottage. I would thoroughly recommend a visit but book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
“Wonderful stay in unique, comfortable and so picturesque seaside cottage.”
We visited as a family of 6. The cottage was ideal for what we wanted. Lovely view, warm, spacious with modern amenities throughout. Also the location was ideal for walking into Bangor, along the coast or visiting the local inn for their very special fish pie!
“Perfect Holiday Cottage”
This is not our first stay at High Tide Cottage and we've already booked for 2016. The location is lovely, the welcome warm and friendly and both High Tide Cottage and Splash Cottage are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Brilliant location, levels of comfort & cleanliness, amenities and especially views. And if you're a birdwatcher, the black guillemots, gannets, terns, redshank and oystercatchers just over the garden wall make it even better still. Fantastic place - will be back.

“Tasteful accommodation in an excellent location”
We enjoyed a glorious week at Splash Cottage. The accommodation is like Pandora's Box: a small front door opens straight onto the pavement of a narrow road (parking is available a few yards away down this road where there was always available space) and then inside, the cottage just goes on and on, with panoramic sea views to enjoy on 3 levels, quality fixtures and fittings and tasteful furnishings. The master bedroom and en suite occupies the whole of the top floor: private, spacious, with those wonderful views to wake up to. We loved the garden and were lucky enough to enjoy some sunny breakfasts watching the guillemots and other seabirds on the rocks below, and the most glorious sunsets over Belfast Sound with the sea lapping against the garden wall. The owner, Paul, who lives nearby, couldn't have been more friendly and was very happy to share his knowledge of the area so that we would get the best out of our time in N Ireland. A lovely cottage in a delightful situation.
“A truly exceptional environment with beautiful views over Belfast Lough”
My wife, myself and a friend had a wonderful ten days at Splash Cottage. The accommodation far exceeded our expectations. We arrived late at night, due to aircraft delays, and everything was there to enable us to settle in comfortably, including a couple of bottles of wine, to ease our stress. Food was provided to enable us to have a wonderful breakfast on the following morning. On meeting Paul, and his lovely wife, we were assured o a lovely holiday. They even managed to turn on some really nice weather for us. We hope to return in 2017 and will make sure we will be staying at Splash Cottage.
“Beautiful views and great hospitality”
Our second stay to come 'home' and visit family. Very welcoming and well equipped house. The welcome pack was much appreciated after a longish journey with 3 young children, including treats for the children and wine for us! The house has great space for everyone and the necessary bits and pieces for young children e.g. stair gates/travel cot etc. Beautiful views of the sea from many windows, including the upstairs shower room! A good house for the children to play in after days out, and for us to relax in in the evenings, looking out to sea with a glass of wine. Paul is a very helpful host, with any queries being dealt with easily and we enjoyed visiting the sites of Bangor and around e.g. Pickie fun park and the coastal path. Jamaica Inn was good and the Salty Dog good for an evening out. All in all a lovely holiday and we will be back!
“Splash Cottage is everything you could wish for in a holiday let!”
The place is delightful with oceans of room - like a Tardis ! We now regret that we couldn't book it for longer. We were exhausted from our day trips out so just being able to chill out when we got back "home" in comfort and with the views was excellent. We hope to visit Northern Ireland much more in the future and would love to stay here again so will check availability of Splash Cottage well in advance. Paul made us so welcome.
This review is long overdue. My husband and I stayed at Splash Cottage in august/September 2012 for two weeks. We loved it so much that we have booked it again for august/September this year for 3 weeks! We can hardly wait to arrive and be greeted by cottage owner Paul and his lovely mother-in-law Ruthie who does a fabulous job keeping the cottage in tip-top shape inside. The bedrooms are all a nice size and have ample storage for your travel gear. As the other reviews say it is "fully equipped" and I can't imagine there would be anything you would need that is not provided and if there is, you are only a short distance away from the shops. If you are looking for the perfect place to stay and I mean perfect you won't be disappointed in Splash Cottage. This year Paul has even arranged for the morning paper to be delivered so we can enjoy a quiet read out on the patio while drinking our coffee. Well now that the secret is out I guess we will be reserving our spot for 2014 as I can see this property has become a hot spot to stay at in the lovely Bangor, County Down. Cheers Paul and Ruthie. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces tomorrow.
