“A bit of mindfulness, away from home and busyness of Barcelona city centre.”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2015

What you have here in this apartment is everything of a sophisticated nature, in terms of appliances, air conditioning and general space. In addition, it has the quirky outlook from Flat 1A, overlooking the internal square of other apartments, whilst relaxing with a glass of wine and planning the next day's sightseeing. Wonderful option if you don't want to spend your break with another couple in another hotel room. Isabel is a fountain of knowledge, I challenge anyone to criticise this bolt-hole, 15 minutes from the centre. Regards Pam Brown.

“Expectations Met”

Reviewed 25 May 2015

My wife and I arrived in Barcelona by cruise ship and our daughter and granddaughter (12) arrived by air the same morning. As this was our daughter and granddaughter's first trip to Barcelona, we thought that renting an apartment for a week would give us a more relaxing, family oriented stay. All of our expectations were met. The apartment was a delightful combination of the old and the new and provided a safe and centrally located haven from which we could explore Barcelona. Isabel not only met us on arrival, she also provided us with very good tips for getting around and arranged for airport transportation at the end of our stay. I can only give my highest recommendation for Apt. 1A.

“Excellent apartment and perfect location for vacation”

Reviewed 18 May 2015

A beautiful and ample apartment with perfect location in the heart of Barcelona. It is on a quiet street yet very close to and in walking distance to some of Barcelona's most vibrant places. The apartment is very clean with plenty of living space and very modern kitchen if you'd like to use it. Excellent and very friendly owner who offers many helpful tips and guide for our Barcelona stay.

“Stylish apartment in quiet street, very close to central Barcelona”

Reviewed 18 May 2015

We stayed here for 4 nights in late April. The apartment is in an old building, but is decorated in a modern style, while retaining original features, such as the beautiful floor tiles. It is well- equipped and very comfortable. The master bedroom is spacious and has a gorgeous en-suite bathroom . There is a lovely balcony off the living/dining area, facing into the large, central courtyard. It is equipped with table and chairs, and the doors can be opened fully so that you can eat breakfast al fresco, if the weather permits. There were four in our party - my husband and I, and another couple. Our friends arrived before us and were met by Isabel, the owner, who showed them round. There was a welcome pack of Cava and chocolates in the fridge, as well as milk and tea /coffee. There are lots of small local supermarkets in the nearby streets, as well as a good bakery and pasteleria a couple of blocks away, so that picking up items for breakfast/ lunch/picnics is no problem at all. The apartment's information folder is full of useful advice on what to do and where to eat. There are also lots of copies of Barcelona guide books to help you with planning your excursions. The apartment is ideally located, as the local area is quiet and feels well away from the hustle and bustle, but is only 10 minutes' walk from the City Centre. We did most of our sightseeing on foot from the flat. If we did need to go anywhere by taxi, we would contact Isabel and she would kindly book this for us. All in all, a great base for a trip to Barcelona and wonderful care from our hostess, Isabel.

“FABULOUS!”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2015

While we often stay at the Four Seasons and Westin hotels throughout America and Europe, but this apartment was much better! Isabel is a most gracious host and the apartment is spacious, elegant and immaculately clean. We arrived on my birthday to find a huge bouquet of flowers, cava, fresh juice and chocolates to welcome us. In the kitchen there is a nespresso maker and coffee pods that satisfied my caffeine addiction. Beds are super comfortable! The building is perfectly situated in the heart of town on a very quiet street. Grocery store, bakery and car rental company are within a block. Dinner down the street at Giorgios is a must! Also, just a short walk to the Palau de Musica where a spanish guitar flamenco night is not to be missed. Enjoy an early stroll into the Gothic district to avoid the crowds. If you are on Rambla, be sure to indulge your sweet tooth at the Escribe bakery. All are just a short walk from the apartment. If we return to Barcelona, this is the only place I would want to stay!

“A very comfortable refuge from the busy city”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2013

We really enjoyed our time in this apartment, it was very comfortable with everything that we needed. We found Isabel, the owner, very helpful and punctual. The apartment is in an excellent location close to the old Gothic origianl city, yet in a quiet residential area. I have no hesitation in recomending it. My husband and I stayed here for a week with our 9 year old son.

“Wonderful experience!”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2013

Isabel was a most considerate host. She met us (two couples) as we stepped out of our cab, gave us a very detailed tour of her lovely, perfectly located apartment (which is full of art by among others, her mother), and let us know that we could contact her at any time with problems/questions. If we are lucky enough to return to Barcelona this is definitely where we will stay. Thank you, Isabel!

“Ideal location!”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

Our host, Isabela, was also ideal. She spoke excellent English and knew the neighborhood and city. She had a book containing information about how to use all appliances, maps, dining and tourist suggestions. And she was available by phone at any time. The apartment was spacious and had an interesting modern decor. There were original paintings on the wall. Air conditioning worked well. The apartment is on the 3rd floor (American), 1st floor in Spain. There is a 2-3 person elevator which comes quickly. It was very convenient to La Rambla/Gothic section and the upscale shopping area, but it had a distinct neighborhood feel. We found some delightful surprises upon arrival: a bottle of Champagne and a liter of milk in the refrigeratory, and a Nespresso coffee maker and 5 pods ready to go. We had to supply our own shampoo and laundry detergent. I also thought it was a great value, considering we would have had to rent 2 hotel rooms otherwise.

“Excellent accommodation in an excellent location”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2013

The apartment was just as described on the website and provided everything we needed for a most enjoyable stay in a magnificent city. The location was perfect, being quiet in the evenings and with "real" Barcelona bars and restaurants close to hand. Isabel provided us with directions and advice on where to eat, how to get about etc., all of which proved very useful.

“Our third stay at Sweet Home Barcelona”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2012

Well, the title says it all. This is our third longterm stay at Sweet Home Barcelona and we enjoy it more and more each time. This time we stayed in Flat 1a, which is just as marvellous as Flat 1B, albeit a bit bigger and with a view onto the inner courtyard instead of the street. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the enclosed deck watching the activity taking place - a neighbour playing ball with his white pet rabbit was a highlight. The apartment caters to all our needs - good wifi, good air conditioning, which is a must in the Spanish summer, a well-equipped kitchen and marvellous interior decoration. And of course, the marvellous location, close to bus routes, the metro and within easy walking distance to many of the wonderful sites Barcelona has to offer. There is a supermarket in the same block and of course the ubiquitous corner cafés are always open for a quick vino and tapa or two. Not to mention the superb restaurants, again, all within walking distance. Another thing that keeps us returning, is the impeccable and very kind service on offer by Isabel and Mike. They are outstanding hosts and this goes a long way to making our stays there so special. Sweet Home Barcelona has become our fix for summer and we will keep on returning as long as we are able to.
