Description
Nyumba ya Madau - the house of the canoes - is a unique beach house on the Indian Ocean entirely decorated in local swahili style with five double bedrooms, en-suited. It is located on a white sandy beach of the most isolated and charming bays of Watamu, an exclusive location for a special holiday with family and friends.
Nyumba ya Madau can be rented daily/weekly/monthly and on a self-catering basis. Discounts apply for week period and there are special rates at time, so please contact us and we might send you a special quote.
The price includes staff, namely a trained excellent cook (italian and kenyan menu), a waiter, a cleaner and gardener. When you rent Nyumba ya Madau, you will be treated like a member of the family. The trusted and gentle members of the staff have been there for more than a decade and will make you feel at home.
The cook will help you with the daily shopping, while fresh fish and octopus come straight from the local fishermen. Shopping via mpesa before arrival can be arranged with the cook. A menu oh his delicious meals is available in the house. Enjoy!
The house has a private beach and a veranda facing the ocean, where you can relax with the sea breeze while watching the incredible show of the tides. The house has also a luxuriant garden and numerous spots to discover and enjoy with a book, a massage or chatting with friends.
The house is located within a compound that has a swimming pool with sea water, ideal for kids and adults. The swimming pool is just behind the house within the compound.
With the low tide you can walk up to the coral riff through the white sand bar and rest in the natural swimming pools. You can also walk on the 2 Km white beach observing birds and the life of local fishermen. With the high tide you can sail on a local dau, snorkel and search for wild dolphins. The house staff will help you arrange for that.
The compound is guarded by professional security 24/7 and at least one askari is always on the beach in front of the house.

“Home away from home, breathtaking.”
This is a beautiful place, relaxing and serene. My friends and I had the most beautiful stay. The staff was great and took good care of us. We would definitely go back for another visit.
