Description
Lou Marcelou is a beautiful village house in St Croix du Verdon, a typical provencal hilltop village in a stunning location overlooking Lac St Croix in the Parc National Du Verdon.
The original building dates back to pre-Napoleonic times and is full of character and charm with exposed stone walls and original wooden beams.
The apartment is accessed from the magnificent terrace (18m/sq) which has fabulous views over the lake and distant hills. Here there is outside tables and chairs.
Entering into the apartment through patio doors there is a well equiped modern kitchen, a dining area and a living area with a large L shaped settee which doubles as a sofabed if required.
To the rear of the apartment is a raised mezzanine level with a French 'demi corbiere' double bed and ample wardrobes.
Under the mezzanine accessed down stone steps is the modern bathroom with large shower. There is also further storage cupboards here.
Into the back wall of the apartment there is a small grotto. In the local area these small caves were dug into the rock of hillside dwellings which made a well to collect rain water for animals. Now it makes a good place to keep your wine cool !
There is the use of a shared washing machine in the cellar under the terrace, where there is also additional storage space for bikes or other bulky items.
The lake is beautiful for swimming and relaxing. It only takes 5 minutes to walk down to it or a minute in the car. There are beaches near the village with snack bars and boat hire available. Or, if you prefer privacy, the lake is surrounded by secluded beaches which you can walk, drive or better still go by boat to.
With breathtaking views of the lake and the foothills of the Alps, Lou Marcelou offers a superb location in this beautiful region of France and can be reached in under 2 hours from the airports of Marseilles and Nice to the south.

“Absolutely beautiful”
Gorgeous apartment and wonderful views. So peaceful sitting by the lake with lots todo - walking, cycling, swimming , kayaking etc are going again this year for the third time
