Cottage Melita is an old stone house redecorated in it's authentic style.It is situated in a lonely place of Babino Polje and only 150 m away from the centre of Babino Polje.Around the place There's possibility of mountin climbing,hiking,walking.It's also perfect for those who don't like big heats because autmn and spring are perfect timing for your vacation in Babino Polje acording to the fact it's exposed to the sun all day all the year around.It is perfect place to meet local people and their way of living.They will make you feel you were one of them.In Babino Plje you can visit Rector's Palace that was Dubrovnik rector's residence during his visit to Mljet. 150 m away from the apartment there's old Mljet house restaurant Triton where you can enjoy our local dishes and pleasant relaxing domestic atmosphere.Around Babino polje there 're plenty of macadame roads where you can have romantic, relaxing long walk throught our fields, wood and along the coast. One of these roads leads you to our most beautiful swimming place Ulisses' Cave and the other rocky beaches not so well known for the tourists.Above Babino Polje there's the highest peak of the island called Veliki grad. It takes about an hour walking to get there by the insights.

As your hosts we'll be glad to give you directions how to get to all these beautiful places that are not so well known althgought not less interesting or atractive to see.

Getting around

I recommend renting a car or scooter which you can do at the harbor as there is almost no public transport at all.There are lot of spots walking distance but if you want to see the whole island I can give you a lift by my car for reasonable price.

Interaction with guest

I like to socialize to my guests. When they arrive I offer them welcome drink to discuss about the island, how to get to the certain spots. I always recommend them where to go and hand them my Guidebook for Mljet so they can go around and follow the directions in there. As I live across the street I always invite them for a cup of coffee or fresh fish dinner. My guests have my contact cell phone number so they can send me an SMS if I,m not home. I organize trips around the island if the guests come without a car.

House rules

Pets are welcome. It's allowed to smoke inside but I recommend doing it on the terrace considering the fact it's never too cold. I allow parties on my property as every unit is apart from the others and there are no neighbors around. So you are allowed to listen to loud music and things like that all parts of the day. Sometimes if we have a plenty of fresh fish we organize a party for our guests and us all together. Welcome!
